  • They do this to stir up things to eat from the silt and sand bottom of tidal pools / the ocean shallows. They were just acting on instinct in this video. I have a video of a seagull doing this in a tidal pool. Ehe. It's funny hearing the splashing water.

  • they tap their feet and the vibrations sound like rain falling to worms beneath the surface,so they come up to avoid drowning (as you might have seen them do in real rain) and when they get to the top....OUCH! lol
