I use the kernel system too. I start with a small, humble object like a stone and then I start asking questions about it ("Is it a pebble someone would kick along or a big stone someone would sit on or a boulder that might be a land mark? Who would interact with the stone in this way? What are they doing? Who are they?). A world stretches out before you if you make it so organically like that, following the threads it presents itself rather than trying to force the tapestry. I just don't write.
no wonder she is writer. she must be writing as fast a she speak.
