  • @antonarst 9x17 is .380ACP, there the same thing

  • nice compare vid!

  • We (Bulgaria) are producing 9x17, 9x18 (actually 9,2x18) and even 9x19... So don't be so sure what is the caliber :) Ofcourse the standart here is 9,2x18.

  • Are the sights on the Walther changable?

  • great video! wow are some folks petty ok so the makarov is 9x18mm and a .380 in metric terms is equal to 9x17.3mm not much difference so why argue semantics the firearms reviewed are all fairly close is physical size and in the caliber chambered and IMHO the video was done well and informative. I lean towards the bersa; for all intents and purposes a clone of the walther with a better price tag!

  • I wish you had a cz83 up there. I would like to see a size comparison with these pistols.

  • I hate the SIG because the action goes across the fatty part of your hand and cuts you.

  • I love my Bersa and IMHO it is the best for EDC. The Walther is too pretty, the Makarov is too ugly, LOL, and the SIG has the European mag release which I don't like. Bersa has a magazine disconnect, but it can be removed as I did in mine.

  • I love my Beretta Roma mod.90 - 7,65.

    The best.

  • If you were to carry one of those as a concealed weapon, which one would you chose and why?

  • Great review.

  • Why is everyone so critical of him? Just shutup and watch the fuckin' videos. Not hard to do.

  • My 1911 SIG is Italian, not German.

  • I enjoy your videos. This has probably been brought to your attention before, but it's pronounced Ma-KAR-ov, not MAK-a-rov. Slavic surnames typically put stress on the second to last syllable, and Makarov is no different.

  • I own a Walther and I would have to say it is the highest quality-- the Sig comes close but I feel the Walther is more comfortable and I prefer the mag release up near my thumb.

  • Makarov isn't a 380 my friend. it is 9x18 makarov and it can easy blow uo ur others 380.

  • @TheLafranyie Not all Makarovs are 9x18, there are some that can be found in .380.

  • @gunwebsites then it's not a true makarov.... the caliber is designed before the gun is. the makarov got its name from the russian guy who designed it so did the caliber have a nice day

  • makarov is a 9x18... not a 9x17 which is a .380.

  • @spuddud19

    not all of them

  • @GunWebsites did they ever come in 380? As far as I know they only came out 9mm makarov. The ones that are true .380 were converted. Nice lineup of guns you have there. Take care!

  • Out of those four .380 .. which one would you carry an depend your life on?? other words which one is better???

  • PPK is my FAV

  • Great video. Thanks for your time and dedication.

Just one thing, Bersa are made in Argentina (wich is in south america, yes), but like any one else, if we made a nice weapon we want to be mentioned, remember that South America are a lot of countrys.

Bersas are from the same land of Ballester Molinas and tango, dont forget!

Thanks for your vid and time

  • I got to handle one of the Bersa's today. and it felt like a piece of shit. Probably because it was an aluminum frame. I'd still certainly buy the Walther first. then probably the Makarov.

  • @hallis1 That doesnt mean thats a shit. And its an alloy that have aluminium, but not only that.

Aluminium frame makes lower weight, and lower price too.

Just do your research, you will find that Bersas are very relliable and have an excelent cuality-price relation.

But the "i like most" factor allways wins at the end, so...

  • @hallis1 ...not sure if the gun you were holding was actually a Bersa...i've held some real shitty guns before....Bersa doesn't fit into that category.

  • Great video. I love the Walther PPK but it's a little expensive. I got a Bersa thunder .380 coming next week.

  • I got a chance to shoot a PPK/S last week and I must say I love the gun. I think i've decided to get the Walther rather than the Makarov due mostly to the availability in stainless and the mag release location.

  • is that a .380 interarms mark II acp??

  • I think i'm going to pick up a Makarov. Online you'll see a lot saying that they're .380 but that's probably somewhat of a misnomer. .380acp is 9x17mm, 9mm Mak is 9x18mm, and 9mm Parabellum (or Luger) is 9x19mm. You can shoot .380 in the Makarov as it's shorter but there may be some blowby. Like others have posted, 9mm Mak is easy enough to find. I've got a Cheaper Than Dirt near me so ammo of any kind is not an issue. This little vid was VERY helpful in helping me decide. Many thanks!

  • Love pocket pistols, PPK/S

  • how about the trgger pull with sig 232 is that reall heavy... is there a way to make it smoother or lighter... thank you very much... please let me know if there is a way....

  • the makarov is a 9x18 mm pistol. not 380.

  • @awb2585 They also made some in .380, he happens to have that variation.

  • @awb2585 Makarov also made a 380. It's well documented.

  • wich one do you like best?

  • IM PUTTING THEM ON MY XMAS LIST

  • i had no idea that the makarov came in .380 ACP... thanks thats pretty cool, which is cheaper? 9x18 or .380?

  • @Sarge101stAirborne

which is easier to find for sale?

  • @GunWebsites i guess the 9x18

  • @GunWebsites Would you concider this as a carry-on pocket pistol for self defence? P.S. what's the price on a walther?( I like that they look nice, and people tell me they're really reliable)

  • @hunterziegelmann PPK in .380 I've seen from $485-599. PPK/S $530-626. (These are stainless models). The blued versions may be a bit more or less.

I bought a S&W made PPK/S and it's been a love/hate CC gun. Break in takes a LONG time. Clean it thoroughly before your first shooting outing. They tend to fail to feed from time to time, but once you figure out which ammo it shoots the best, then it becomes a lot more enjoyable. Check various Walther forums for more info.

  • @Sarge101stAirborne depends on the type of ammo your going to by. You can get both 9x18 and 380 cheap with the russian ammo. tul ammo brown bear.

  • @awb2585 ya i recon thats true, how come wolf ammo has gone up in price and down in findability lately? so weird.

  • @Sarge101stAirborne There are so many manufacturers of .380, that you could find it at the same price as the 9mm Makarov. I've seen both for 17.99/50 I've seen 9mm Mak for as much as $25

That said, .380 is MUCH easier to find than 9x18. If you have a good shooters shop they should have it, but you can always order it online.

  • @Sarge101stAirborne the makarov isnt a .380 acp......................it a 9x18mm.... but it is a .380 caliber (aka 9mm)

  • @wvdeerhunter62 9mm and .380 bullet circumference is the same, but 9mm is like a .380 "magnum"....don't confuse them by saying they're the same.

  • @Sarge101stAirborne Makarov ships .380 all the time. Easier to find 9X18 which I prefer because it hits harder and is usually cheaper. In a SHTF situation you can run .380 through it too! Gangsta's do it all the time. .380 barrel on sale on one of the websites here in Orygun

  • in my opinion 1) bersa 2) Sig 3) walther 4) makarov; they are all good, it is just my personal preference.

  • I love the bersa and the ppk, I've heard about the Makarov, never shoot that kind of SIG, but for you wich one is the best and why

  • There's a double stack 15 shot Bersa Thunder Pro in the market

  • @remus5 whiny armchair expert.

  • @remus5

Makarov came chamber in 9x18 AND .380. I know people that do carry makarov, a little heavy imo but it's not unheard of.

  • I've watched many many reviews but this was the best review I've ever seen. Great overview. Good information. Not a lot of insignificant "talk". Thank you, this was tremendously helpful as my wife shops for a carry weapon.

  • PPK 380 > Makarov 380. If I was going to own a Makarov, I would just get it in 9x18. I can understand reconverting a good weapon design to cheaper, more common ammo. But if that ammo that it already uses is so damn cheap and easy to begin with, there is no point unless you are a super patriot who can't except using a *commie* caliber.

  • @remus5 That particular Makarov is .380. Baikal made many of them in this caliber for export.

  • @remus5

nope, you are just assuming too much.. again

  • Really good video except the makarov pistol is not a .380acp. It's a 9x18.

None of theese guns are pocket pistols, they are sub compacts.

  • @remus5

learn more, than attempt to coach

  • @remus5

na... he's right.. you there are the Makarov PM, Makarov PMM, Makarov PB and the Makarov Izh-71.

he has the Izh-71. this version has a shorter round. not the normal 9x18 but the 9x17 and a other name for it is .380 acp

  • @remus5 there is a .380 version, or are you just blind?

  • @remus5 The Makarov also comes in .380, the commercial models anyway. If you want to make it 9x18, all you'd need is the correct barrel and a barrel press.

  • @remus5 makarov come in .380 as well..

  • @remus5 Except you're wrong. The Makarov has been made in both .380 and 9X18. I've held both kinds at gun shops.

  • @remus5 9x18 is the same dimensions for the 9mm kurz or... .380! Fool.

  • which is better for defense 22lr or 380 acp?

  • Does the fixed barrel attached to the pistol frame cause the weapon to be more inherently accurate (discounting the actual shooter) than perhaps an older .380 without the fixed barrel?

  • @imiritu

it can, but not an absolute

  • Hey GunWebsites,

The Bersa; is that the duotone?

  • Good info! Is it possible to convert a ppk for a left handed shooter?

  • hey great video thanks for the good info...

  • The bersa is a 7-round mag

  • I purchased my makarov at the same time a friend bought the Sig, he gloated over it's superiority to my junky russian gun, showing me it's wonderful features. He was so proud of himself until he found out the Mak had all the same functions with cheaper and slightly more powerful ammo, and that at the range it shot better and was more accurate firing the pistols back to back.I paid $150 for mine in about '93, he paid over $300 for his,not such a good deal for a pistol you'll be just carry.

  • ich versteh kein scheiss

  • I love the makarov. Im going to buy one.

  • You left out the CZ 83, a very nice .380 and one that is quite inexpensive. I personally like the ones you included, but i would like to see a comparison of them to the CZ 83.

  • I like the walther best.

  • South America isnt a country, stupid. Its an continent. Bersas are made in Argentina, neighbor of my beloved country.

  • @FlakeDodge7

who said it was a country?

Isn't Argentina in South America ??

Think Canada gets mad when people say "north america"? .. get over it

  • @GunWebsites hey do you think a cz 82 is a good but for 199 because i really like the layout and i would use it for ccw what is your opin on the cz82

  • @GunWebsites

Honestly I dont care what Canadians way or think. Thats their problem.

Southamerica is not a country. Bersa is from Argentina

  • Nice to see these side-by-side. I had a Walther PPK/S .380 for years, and while I didn't shoot it often, I definitely had it broken in. I gave it every type of ammo I could find, mainly FMJ, and it would still fail to feed pretty often. The return spring was painfully stout, and the slide catch developed an annoying habit of shifting sideways and making it very difficult to release the slide forward. I doubt this is typical, but it was enough to make me part with mine after 10 years...

  • Wait... I thought that Makarovs were 9x18 and .380 was 9x17.

Is that .380 Mak a westernised version, a conversion or does it just not care what ammo you put though it?

  • @taskforce437

they were made in multiple calibers, especially the ones made to export

  • can i have one?

  • only one small disadvantage P232 have is older style of magazine release (makarov have the same style)

  • what gun do you guys think is best, the sig-p232 or the p-238?

it would be sweet a direct comparison of those two :)

  • @TheDANGERADRIAN it si not question of quality but question of fancy for design and difficult trigger mechanism.

P232 have DA/SA mechanism, have blowback breech, higher capacity 7+1 (in my opinion is nicer and better ready for CCW)

P238 have only Single action, smaller capacity 6+1, but barrel is locked into the ejection port. This gun plays on trend of 1911 and Colt pocket pistols design (colt mustang).

    I thing P232 is more hands-on gun.

  • @zlutaopoce thanks for the answer :) what ammo do you recomend? for the p232...

  • @TheDANGERADRIAN for self defence better is 380 ACP (9mm Browning short),

but in europe (in our country) is more available and cheeper 32 ACP (7,65mm Br.) (when need shooting often). (but brand of ammo I can`t recomend)

But interesting sub compact single stack Sig Sauer gun is new P290 in 9mm Parabellum / Luger - is more powerfull. My friend need it. But P232 is more beautifull in my opinion, and have better ergonomy grips.

  • @zlutaopoce in my country the bigger caliber that we can port for self defense is 380 we can´t have in any way a bigger caliber thant that, in revolver is .38 super the max caliber :( so im looking for the best 380 and sig sauer p232 since now i think is the best for my needs, i´ve been watching reviews of ammo and since now I think the best is the federal 380 acp hollow point, but I don´t now... some say the flat nose is better for the impact... thanks for the answer :)

  • @TheDANGERADRIAN I understand. but if you would own P232, you will have luxury quality gun ...and quite expensive :o) In our country is not limits for caliber, but banned are bullets with controlled deformation for example Hollow point, Hydra shock etc.

Are there any restrictions about magazine capacity in your country?

  • @zlutaopoce mmmm mag capacity to be honest i don´t know, i live in mexico and here the things are messed up, we can have a 380 auto but if the gun have laser it´s illegal wtf?... we can own an single shot AK47 but if the gun is automatic it´s illegal too LOL and i´ve never heard somethig about of the type of bullet (hollow point) i guess there should be any problem if the caliber is the correct for these stupid laws and never heard something about the mag capacity... where you from?

  • @TheDANGERADRIAN you have post in your inbox

  • Makarov is the most powerful (but production after 1990 are inferior - poorer quality). Looking for older makarovs from socialism production before 1990 - have better finish, better tough steel....

I think the best of those pistols (precision of finish, quite quality) is Sig Sauer.

Bersa have the best performance ratio.

S&W „Walther“ PPK is nice small „classic looking“ 380 ACP.

but real classic is PPK in 7,65mm Browning from carbon steel in blue finish (similar as 32 ACP).

  • Makarov pistol is in cal. 9mm Makarov - have bigger diameter/calibre of bullet than 9mm Browning short = 380 ACP/Auto.

9mm Makarov is more powerfull than 380 ACP

This Walther PPK in stainless steel is not german pistol. It is produced only under "german" - Walther license in USA in Smith and Wesson.

    - the best PPK are those have had produced in Germany in ULM (farther from Zella Mehlis, and after WW2 in Manurhin in France - on germans machines).

  • Wait, Makarovs come in 9x17mm? I thought Makarovs shot 9x18mm.

  • @hacker7305

The commercial ones made for export came as either a 9x17 or 9x18 version.

  • MAKAROV IS FROM COD!

the gun companies copied the game!!!!!!!!!!

  • @blkhawk60 You are kidding right? Makarov has been killing people long before COD ever existed.

  • @blkhawk60 you are fucking retarded kid!

  • How much would The sig cost..?

  • Makarov(PM) - 9x18, ИЖ-71 (IJ-71)- 9x17(380)

  • i prefer a walther ppk it is a good gun

  • But I prefer the P232, it's just beautiful consider more and more defensive loads are coming out for the .380 and not the 9mm Mak

  • It would seem to me that purchasing a Mak in the 9x18 chanbering would make more sense. It holds 8 rounds, it's a damn good pistol, it's more powerful than .380, it's cheap and ammo is plentiful and cheap. You can scoop up 1k of FMJ for around 200 bucks on k-var

  • Very good review full of facts and not opinions or politics. I appreciate all the good information.

  • All very nice pistols. I'm sorry if you've been asked this but isn't the Makarov in 9x18mm rather than .380acp (9x17mm)? I suppose it's probably just to sell them in a western country like the US. Afterall, we're more familiar with .380acp than 9mm Makarov. Thanks for sharing!

  • My family's got a Makorov 9mm Russian (Reffering to the ammo). But it has a normal mag release that's by the trigger guard. It might be newer/older than thay one though.

  • Sights aren't really important with pocket pistols though. Your talking about ranges of about 10 to 50 feet. 50 being long range. You just want to pop them a few times while retreating away from them or to get into your car. I would only use them for backup purposes though or during hotter periods of the year. Great review!

  • I have one Walther and it is very accurate Only thing is during shooting make sure your hand it is under the rail other wise you will cut your hand I wish I have Makarov with my collection

    Great video thanks

  • i liked sig

  • can't go wrong with the Bersa, although it comes in a cardboard box, it's a feature-packed tack driver. i would WITHOUT A DOUBT trust my life or loved ones' life to a BERSA .380, thus i purchased one for the g/f with pink grips as well. oh yeah, you can get em for $230-$280 if you shop around!

  • shit , what a hot looking Makarov...there are 9mm Makarovs, and did u know that there is a .22 conversion kit for the Makarov which is very easy to install?

  • @wilfredotour2

Now that you mention it, I think I have seen one, but a long time ago.

If you have one make a video and link it here

  • @wilfredotour2 you know where I can get one for under $150?

    TNX!

  • @DaniAmur a makarov or the kit to convert it to .22?

  • @wilfredotour2 The Makarov Russian or E. German

  • @DaniAmur no, there's no way, you gotta get very lucky to find such a low price.Bu you can get a CZ82 , which is very similar, for around $230...anyways I'll recomend a website where you can find good deals some times, it's gunbroker(dot)com and you gotta live in the USA (I think). Right now there's a Bulgarian Makarov which you can buy right now for $225, or place a bid.You have 9 days if you wanna buy it.If it was me, I would buy it right now 'cause the price is awesome for a Makarov lately.

  • Nice Walther PPK.

  • Great vid man I have a P232, lite, good looking and fairly accurate, love it.

  • I like the vid bro. I just bought a BERSA .380 for my wife and we love it. i was wondering how to disassemble it so thanks for the info. But our BERSA holds 7 in the clip and one in the chamber. You said 6 for all.

  • So if I were to get one for the most range/accuracy, which would be better?

  • @pichu9000

Kinda like asking what convertible will be warmest in winter

  • just one question. isnt sig saur swiss AND german, not just german. thanks.

  • @greenandredretards Correct.

  • sig: 7+1 rounds

  • no cz 83????

  • Accually the Russian made Makarov is the best choice. It is cheaper, more accurate, and holdes more rounds than the rest. 8+1

If you really want to waste money, buy the walther.

  • I sold my walther because it was inaccurate, jammed, beat my hand to death, and cut my hand with the trigger hammer. I bought two nickle russian made 380's for what I sold the walther for. They both have never jammed, they are a lot more accurate, and hold 2 more rounds then the walther.

  • The original PPK's did not have a bolt hold open on last round you had to rack the slide on every mag change. Not sure if the model he has does that or not.

  • Would you use a .380 such as the Mak for open carry?

  • @paulith101 sure why not?? the markarovs were built to military, and law enforcement specs. the KGB, and Russian police carried them, and so did the Russian military officers. they are built like a tank, if you are OK with the weight, the Maks are a great CCW option.

  • Makarov is the best for me, but I prefer the PM model. Congratulations, good video.

  • I will pick the Sig P232 out of this lot!

  • @Aussie038 I can attest to the quality. I own a p232 and p230sl. Both are super reliable and very effective as concealed carry.

  • Bersa 380 is a good and cheap pistol... the best is walther ppk... but it's expensive.

    makarov... shit russian weapon.

  • @r1cc4rd000

There are like a million Makaovs out there working well and doing their job.. so again, where is your proof ?

  • @r1cc4rd000 Russian designed weapons are some of the most copied designs in the world, now why do you think that is mr. smarty pants. Please don't talk shit about things you know nothing about, it makes you look stupid.

  • @8lindf1ght

you have explained by yourself the reason.

production line in Eastern Europe is shit except for CZ that is a great Czech pistol.

If you like Makarov because it's cheap and you are a redneck you can buy it for about 200 usd.If you buy a makarov in Saint Petersbourg for 200 usd you will receive as a present a vodka bottle.

  • @8lindf1ght Russian made stuff rarely breaks, and if it does, it is designed to be simple to repair. The Makarovs are built the same way. they are not pretty, but they work!!! back in the 90's the Maks were just being imported here, I bought a brand new one with 4 mags in the box for $79.99 the Walther, and sig $500 plus. the older walthers were not throated to fire model JHP ammo. only hardball....Maks shot anything.

  • @r1cc4rd000 I disagree, I have owned 3 markorovs, and i found them to be well built, simplistic , very reliable weapons. I had a Walther PPKS which was very fussy to JHP ammo, but the markarov shot anything i put thru they are ugly, but they go " bang " every time you pull the trigger. the Russians had a great manufacturing philosophy. the stuff they made had to be simple, and it had to work!!

  • Comment removed

  • i love that ppk/s

  • They are all brothers of Walther PPK

  • Just watched the video. One error I noticed, actually the Makarov holds 8 rounds in the magazine.

  • the fixed barrel makes it deadly accurate....that i like alot.

  • The Makarov is the best dollar value out there on the table. I'd take mine in the original 9mm Makarov though. Nice bunch of pistols.

  • Fatal flaw with the P232: You can't put a front night sight on it! The newer ones (as of 2009, I think) have a pinned front sight that can be removed, but, if you have the older version, you're screwed (unless Sig can do something to it that I'm unaware of). Other than that, I think the Sig is definitely the sexiest.

  • How hard is it to find one of those Russian .380s?

  • Hands UP POLICE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! xD

  • any reason the cz 83 wasnt included in this line up?

  • @jakep42zer0

    Didn't have one

  • great review, you accomplished more on 4 different guns than most people do for one gun review in the same time frame. thank you

  • jävla psykfall

  • jajjemän:)

  • sorry a bersa thunder delux holds 15+1, I would take it over all these guns, 2nd choice would be the makrov, tough gun as well! Also no problem concealing mine....

  • bersa thunder holds 15+1, have one and use it, never a problem! great gun!

  • The bersa thunder have 7 round magazine.

  • the makarov is a beast

  • The main difference between the Makarov and the rest is that the Makarov was in use as a military and police pistol for 50 years in Soviet bloc countries. As such, it is far more reliable than any of the others - it was the Glock of it's day. When the Berlin wall came down, TONS of Maks were imported here and acquired quite a following. You can still find Maks here for $200-$300 and get a far better and more reliable pistol than any of the others. I've owned the others, my Mak outshoots them all

  • @lanternlad3 KGB were issued the Maks too, they are built for combat. Love the Maks!!!!

  • bersa thunder plus

  • The sig will hold 7+1. so will the ppk/s. A regular ppk only will old six but will except the long 7 meant for the ppk/s.

  • the adjustable rear sights are probably import requirements

    can one replace the barrels?

  • I prefer the Kel-Tec or LCP that have free floating barrels as opposed to a fixed barrel.

This pistols are all lead sleds compare to the Kel-Tec or LCP too. Those models weigh in at about 9.5oz.

  • hard to disagree with you

  • @stchman the kel-tec and the ruger are dao

  • What model makarov is that?
