This explanation stick gave is mainly correct. Since the displacement of mass produced a force created by the inertia exerted on the body by the bolt. The Shoulder or even for that matter the shooters hand, produces a fixed point (the point at which the shooter experience such (insignificant) force). The angular moment referred to in some comments is = to R (radius from such action) cross product F (force exerted at such point). But if this is too hard lets go with "horizontal". TROLL ON STICK

@Sticktodrum Someone has to put this strait, Newton’s third law - "every action has an equal and opposite reaction". The “kick” or resultant force you experience when firing a paintball is equal and opposite to the sum of the forward momentum of the projectile, exhaust gasses and marker components. This linier momentum is offset by a pivot which causes a moment. The size of the moment is dependent on distance from the pivot and the size of the force, we can call the moment angular momentum.
