Tinny, I didn't see any air supply holes at the bottom of the one you said might be a "Kelly kettle", but I know you must have put some in. I don't see how the "Kelly" could loose more heat than a regular pot because air disperses the hot gasses away from the sides of a regular pot. The "Kelly" keeps the gases in contact with the sides all the way up, more heat has to be transfered to the pot. Therefore, I'm guessing the vent holes weren't optimal. How many, how big and where were they?
The Heineken pot is nice but limites me on what I can carry in my pot case because of it's odd shape. The fosters has a much more efficient use of space and works well.
Tinny is like Benjamin Franklin in that he only gets to his successes through many MANY mistakes. Way to go Tinny EVERYTHING teaches us. Even our mistakes. LOL

The Fosters are fairly thick but I have added another layer of aluminum under the wick and the wick also helps stiffen the sides
