  • This is fake. You guys are so gullible. FAKE.

  • is that a hitler salute right at the beginning?

  • i don't understand peopl

  • DIS GAI IS SHIT FUNNEH!!! HE MUST B A ALIEN OR SUTIN

  • dis guy....

  • I just don't find this funny :[

  • FAKE!

  • The persuanionists was quite a good show, is it coming back to the BBC?

Adam, do some parkour for us :P

  • THE PERSUASIONISTS Very awesome. 5/5

  • Ive got that table......its from IKEA

  • HAHA I just read that Joe Cornish "directed parts of the Blunder pilot".

    Oof.

  • These comments are unfair. It's probably only about the 6th worst comedy in history. And the absolute worst one had David Mitchell in it! I'm on about Blunder, obviously.

I hadn't heard of persuasionists until I saw this in Adam's list of vids. Loads of people probably haven't heard of Blunder, or remember it. Anyone who knows Adam and saw this sitcom knows he's above it, and anyone who doesn't know him is probably easily pleased anyway. Minimum damage, I imagine.

  • @EvilStreaks Blunder was one of the worst things ever filmed. Ended up attacking my TV in fury. For rizzle.

  • @Gaalsien the studio audience on blunder must have been paid a fortune to laugh. i couldnt sit there and laugh at that shite for anything less than.... i'd say... 70 grand an hour?

  • You'd earn more self-respect sucking knob on the high-street.

  • I like that blanky.

  • Sorry Adam but 'ad agency' is kind of a mid noughties idea...with the recent collapse of all we know about modern capitalism, and the undeniable advent of a global worker's collective in response, this sort of thing is really passe.

  • @smile221 "noughties" .......... really?

  • you are one funny SOB Buccles!!!!

  • Buxton reads cookdandbombd lol <3

  • the thing is, although the persuasionists wasnt great, it was still infinitely better than 'two pints of lager' and 'coming of age'... both of which seem to last forever -.-

  • wtf

  • well i liked it.

  • I think you're much better off sticking to your own stuff buccules...

  • "I thought the internet was meant to be about fun, constructive criticism."

  • Lol my name is Adam Buxton to :)

  • I think Adam and Joe are much funnier together than they are individually

  • come back please :/

  • I liked The Persuasionists. I'd like another series. I dunno why people are so mad... Just 'cause you don't find something funny doesn't mean you have to be angry about it, there are loads of things I don't find funny, but people I know do, so what's wrong with that?

  • you are still a genius. i love you

  • It's such a shame that you were in that load of crap Adam, you're a hilarious man on your own. This video shows it! Write your own sitcom!

  • @squidlad Adam why did you give us a synopsis of Avatar at the start of the video? Was that supposed to be funny?

    I thought it was funny.

  • I saw the first episode of the Pursuasionists, it was quite bad and I felt tired watching it.

  • I hope he was well paid for that show. It was shameful toss- not his fault however.

  • who is he

  • Haha, Ad, you've gained all my respect again for this--deliberately slating that toilet show with satire.

As for Ian Lee, he needs a fucking meal.

  • Unobtanium? YES!

  • ha cheeky cook'd and bom'd reference!

  • This video was actually funnier than absolutely everything from any episode of the Persuasionists. Apart from how laughably bad it was.

  • ha ha i liked that - you do make me chuckle adam, especially when you're not in the persuasionists, but take heart, none of the other actors were funny in it either. onwards!

  • -What was that sitcom called where the men all play sexist hate figures who get their come-uppance at the end? - You know? -The one that looked like it had been written by someone who was very insensitive and had taken lots of cocaine?..I`m just kidding of course! I have`nt watched telly for about six months, I`m sure it`s loads different now.

  • :) Really funny!

  • I live in Australia and I just watched all six episodes of this. While the performances were a little over-the-top and 'shouty' and the audience laughter seemed slightly fake and irritating, it was still pretty funny with some hilarious bits. The Aussi boss was brilliant. Just read all the bad reviews on the BBC blog; c'mon it wasn't that bad you whinging Pommy bast@rds.

  • @5uds1 I dunno about sitcoms in Australia, but we generally have quite high expectation of comedy here. I really found the persuasionists hard to watch and tried very hard.

  • @ZAFARCAKE Hmm, I see, and I certainly feel for your predicament. By way of a solution might I suggest YOU GO FUCKYOURSELF YOU POMPOUS TWAT. See if that helps.

  • @5uds1 lolll what the fuck are u talking about? who are u?

  • @5uds1 So because he didn't like it, he's a pompous twat? Makes sense.

You know, I don't like Big Brother, Eastenders, The Big Bang Theory or The Persuasionist, along with several other shows. Does that make me a pompous twat? Or does it just mean that I have a different taste to you? I'm stumped, you're gonna have to help me on this one.

  • when you said 'all in all' you turned into Alexander Armstrong for a moment.

a part of you must've died inside when you decided to do that dire 'comedy'. and it's not even as if the BBC pays well unless you're Jonathan Ross.

  • someones brought themselves a brand spanking new green screen....

  • I love you Adam

  • bbc comedy needs a kick up the arse.oi you? you up there! make a muslim parody video and put it on bbc 2

  • Heh. I remember our days on Pandora.

    Good work, that man.

  • Genuinely made me laugh out loud. This particular video, not the Persuasionists, which is a pile of wank.

  • strange...and a bit mad!!! :-)

  • The Big British Castle is in crisis and in need of Adam and Joe!

  • watch professor tomenstein its funnier

  • I remember this guy from The IT Crowd.

  • who did he play?

  • I don't exactly remember who he played, but he was Jen's boyfriend and he always talked about how he was the last person who slept with her.

  • The Persuasionists is a very poor sit-com. I think Buxton can only redeem himself as a comedy actor by DOING ANOTHER SERIES OF ADAM AND JOE!

  • when will the adam & joe podcarst come back?

  • LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSER

  • After watching a few clips of this Persuasionists, the first few he reads out sound spot on. Its bloody awful.

Not quite as bad as wanking with sandpaper, but not far off.

  • Buxton is a hero. MeeBox was brill, why couldn't that have been picked up?

  • British billy mays?

  • Anyone remember Big Top? No? Thought not...

  • This video had me in hysterics.

How the persuasionists got to 6 episodes when MeeBOX never made it past the pilot i'll never know.

  • Never mind, Adam.

It was good to see you standing up for 6 music on Channel 4 News tonight. What a world! At least Jon Snow is a fan. That must feel nice. He's the coolest cat in town.

  • i dont get it--

    oh wait...

is he referring to avatar in that last bit?

  • No its all fake. Its not the real Dr Buckles, he hasnt been seen for 5 years now. Fully CGI...took them 4 months to perfect the beard.

  • The beard is sensational

  • i love the Road reference.

  • This whole business reminds me of the Extras character Andy and when his 'shit-com' goes wrong, I wonder if Buxton has an agent like steve merchants character.

  • Get A&J back on the radio! I miss the podcast. :(

  • Grats on the BAFTAs. Did you really have to throw them into the audience though?

  • I am sorry to say that I did not enjoy it either and I love Count Buckulees. You and Joe should have your ban from TV lifted and make a decent sitcom.

  • i love 'THE PERSUASIONISTS' -series 2

    please bbc

  • Buxton for gods sake please don't sign onto another series, if you need the cash that bad I will send you a fiver.

  • A script just holds Buxton down! More A&J, Adam does his best work organically!

  • OK well alot of people aparently hated it but have recently sat down and watched them and really quite enjoyed them. I did even once fall in to hyserical laughter but that was more at my friends face. What was wrong with this show sorry?

  • his solo stuff is best

  • Don't feel bad, Ad.

  • ...wish the persuasionists was as funny as this...or at all

Keep it up buckulease! (by 'it' i mean everything you do that isn't the persuasionists)

  • Adam don't be glum, we've all gotta do things to get by and I'm guessing you had no idea what they would do in post but I dont think I only speak for myself when I say 'we dont think any less of you for doing such an awful...awful show' Cheer up buckles

  • very good Adam. shame you didn't write the P-show. You didn't did you?

  • Gotta say, youre a great sport about this. The show wasnt too bad :)

  • Give the show a free share license. Folks could remix and dub over it. Love your work Adam, apart from the Persuasionists... It made me vomit all over myself. x

  • yeah.. jackie

  • Maybe someone at the 'Castle will see this and realise that they should be letting Dr Buckles write their shows instead of the guy who wrote the Pot Noodle ads - just a thought. Can't wait for a Boggins-voiced Jake Lamotta or a Lorra Lorra spouting Travis Bickle. Personally, I'd be happy if the next Adam Buxton project was just a camera and Buckules reading through classic children's picture books with funny voices! You've got lucky kids!

  • @Marrissey I agree wholeheartedly with everything you said, nut you missed one point....he has a VERY lucky wife too! :D

  • legend

  • Much respect sir

  • great vid!

  • why are you floating?

  • Admiral Bickles, I salute thee!

A very good sport indeed, and the ending is most amusing.

  • beards own

  • this is brills!

    adam buxton for pope!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Aww Adam, fwiw I really enjoyed it! <3 <3

  • :) Most amusing!

  • come on guys! i thought the internet was supposed to be for fun constructive criticisms!

    i agree- lol.

  • You are so full of win, Count Buckules, that I fear you may burst! Takecareloveyoubye!!

    xx

  • I can't bring myself to watch the Persuationists after reading about it. But I love this and I love Dr. Buckles x Hope you're genuinely able to laugh about it x

  • Comment removed

  • Respect to you Mr.B...and nice blanket!!

  • u look wel diferent wid a beard

  • i came the show by accident and thought you and simon farnaby were really good. shame the script and rest of the cast were a bit poop though. this vid is very funny though- i do think you are a genius!

  • Keep the faith Buckulese.

  • must be demoralising. having a show geared around people calling you a fat useless twat, only to have it fail, miserably.

  • Adam, you're not just a genius, you're the best fucking genius in the world. Past, present and future. Scorsese should take your hint.

  • Well done to Adam for having the guts to laugh at a decidedly low point in his career. My wife and I hoped for so much from The Persuasionists but found ourselves cringing within 5 minutes. Dreadful waste of resources!

  • I agree

  • i agree LOL

  • Hey, the guy has to pay the bills doesn't he? How much do you think that beard costs to rent every month eh?

  • More Dr Buckles, less Sitcoms.

  • Oh Adam, you've just proved yet again how utterly wonderful & brilliant you really are! Yes!

  • Yeah - BBC take note: Dr Buckles = Laugh Out Loud funny, Persuasionists = thorough bilge. Now that Wossy's been fired perhaps a small fraction of his salary could be directed in your direction for a show that's actually watchable and amusing, "Famous Guy" the series for one

  • amazing.

  • wash that adidas top Adam !

  • I think Dr Buckles is amazing.. but the Persuasionists was rubbish

  • Shame the Persuasonanists is such a piece of arsefloss, as there is some real comedy talent there: the lovely, gorgeous Daisy Haggard.

God bless her and her lovely, cute teeth. I just want to hug them and squeeze them and admire them, and maybe polish them. Maybe even put them up on my mantlepiece.

I'M NOT A DENTAL SERIAL KILLER!

    ILUVUDAISY!!!!!!!!!

[heart] [heart] [hug] [bigsmile] [heart] [cockindaisysmouth] [heart] [hug]

  • Maybe we could get a petition going to get The Pursuasionsists off the air, and replace it with a 30 minute edit of 'The Rat Control The Cook'.

  • Summing up Cameron's simplistically-storied film in such eloquent beauty - brilliant. Love you Dr. Buckles!

  • i want to write something stunningly funny so you can take all the credit.

i live on a couch and have tinnitus, surely this can be used as currency?

    thanks for your time.

  • Its not your fault adam I think its mostly the other people you've got buzzing around you. I mean why have the dude that looks like Howard Moon (Julian Barratt) wid a wierd accent. The lovely female actress that was in psychoville was ok but the rest are twonks basically. Especially that lanky dude... it should of been Joe Cornish. Anyway I know Iam a nobody but I know what I like. YOU MAKE THAT SHOW...

  • ha ha haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • is it just me who thought that 'unobtainium' was a lazy name for a ore?

  • It was a self-aware joke. The idea was that they had named it that because no-one could get hold of any.

  • I made it through seven minutes of the second episode (missed the first one altogether, fortunately) and felt quite proud to have got that far. Adam, wtf were you thinking of, had you not read the script? Anyway, forgetting that - have you listened to Transference by Spoon yet? Bloody great, isn't it?

  • Would you like a brownie?

  • I wouldn't worry about the bad press for 'The Persuasionists'. Adam must be pretty powerful to have a desk that can hover over London. Like an administrative Willy Wonker.

  • I think what lets the Persuasionists down is that the really hands-off (well, weak) direction and scripting has been frantically polished to a slightly sickening shine in post-production.

There's still little comedy gems in there, like Adam randomly caught by the camera smelling his hands at the start of the episode with the model, but the BBC has to stop trying to fix everything by making it saturated and saccharine after the fact.

You've completely acquitted yourself here, Adam. Well done!

  • Sorry, I lost my point there. I think it's quite possible that nobody on the set knew how The Persuasionists was going to turn out, because it looks so massively overpolished now.

Also, it looks like they had fun making it, and every new series probably looks tatty when you're on the other side of the screen, looking at the thread ends.

  • Good point, adequately made (can't say well cos it rambled into two post :) ).

It really reminded me of the sitcom Andy makes in Extras. A good idea that far too many people get involved in. Then post-production get hold of it and you are left with an almost mirror-shined turd

  • Sorry you had to wake up Ad. It is terrible, but I did make it to the end of the 1st episode if thats any consolation (mainly because of the blonde woman).

  • You have to admit, the persuasionists is AWFUL.

Don't know why you did it Adam, the radio show is genius and so are your youtube vids, but the tv show is miserable

  • Comment removed

  • well, I have checked it out and have to agree with @ashj78 . Unwatchable.

    this is good though

  • that beard is so totally fake

  • no it isn't

  • What an inane comment? Even if it was, who cares? Is there a secret internet prize for pointing out artificial facial hair?

And why the hell would he wear a fake beard for a video like this? Did he do a first take and think "Hmm, it's not funny enough, I need to add some beard"

  • PS all comedy should be played straight. Unless it's a pantomime.

  • Man. I love Adam but I barely made it through 3 mins of this show. How did it get made? Can't blame the actors though. can't even blame the writers ( shame on them). Blame the BBC.

  • Love ya Bucko!

  • I just watched the episode called handsomeness. How does sometyhing like that get commisioned when Meebox didn't. It's rediculous.

  • the russian character is quite enjoyable, but the rest either can't act (the fat boss guy) or don't seem fully-written, fleshed out characters (buxton). Still not as bad as that Nick Frost sci-fi sitcom. Was it called Overdrive?

  • Hey, Hyperdrive was way fucking better than this shit, man! Are you serious? Besides, there was a pervading sense of people having fun making it, not like the perceived pulling-teeth misery of the Persuasonanists.

  • Fair enough, but personally I couldn't sit through an episode of Hyperdrive. Its was like Planet Mirth had returned (ask your parents kids). But then I thought Kevin Eldon (who is usually excellent) was rubbish as well. Not sure how that happened really. What a wasted opportunity.

  • Yeah hyperdrive was pretty bad. I did however manage to sit through at least one episode, unlike the persuasionists which had me bailing at about 5 minutes in.

I think both shows were cases of a funny and talented cast let down by dire scripts and shoddy production.

  • haha great

  • I'm hoping this will be one of those sitcoms which takes off after a while; the first time I saw the IT Crowd, I thought it was really outdated, obvious comedy, but seasons 2 and 3 got me into it, then watching season 1 again, it was actually pretty good.

ps. Good work on the speed beard growing between filming the series & getting back from Pandora.

  • I felt exactly the same about the IT crowd. I am in IT support and felt it was just 'ooh look at the funny geeks in IT'. I guess that clouded my judgement but after giving the second series a watch, I went back and actually enjoyed the first, and subsequently, third.

I do, however, doubt that will be the case here. My judgement was not clouded on watching this and it was still tripe. I doubt time, or a second series, can heal this

  • Think that's my reasoning on the IT crowd too. However I can't bring myself to agree with your second comment / doubt anything that Bucules has been involved with; he's too awesome. . . this will be amazing; they just need to cast Boggins as the office dog and the show will be redeemed.

  • I found this hilarious. No idea what The Persuasionists is but I will check it out now. My hopes are not high though...

  • Comment removed

  • I'll always love you Count Buckulees!

  • yeah man don't give up the day job. I didn't even know what your sitcom was called until I watched this

  • God i hope you weren't responsible for writing that piece of shite (the per..i don't even want to say the name its that crap) cos THIS ^^^^^ is what i think of when i think of your standard of comedy... and its nothing short of genius. I hope you get the chance just to do your own thing sometime.

  • you're bang on mate

  • So obviously Fake!

  • @xpnw Agreed, obviously fake. I don't know why people bother making these fake videos, I mean, what's the point? Where's the joke? I wish I could give this video -5 stars just for being fake.

  • Comment removed

  • Maaan, xpnw, I just realised you're right, it is a fake!

GODDAMN IT, IT MAKES ME SO FUCKING ANGRY TO SEE ALL THESE FAKE GODDAMN VIDEOS, WHY THE FUCK DO PEOPLE DO THIS??? AND ON YouTube, of all places! Don't they know YouTube is just for factual programming? IDIOTHOLES!

  • Oh yeah, now you say it, I don't think he's even really sitting in front of that city and I think that laptop is actually made of cheese!

    What a fraud.

  • what do you even mean?

  • The scrip for this show is really bad, + the canned laughter made it almost unwatchable, I couldn't even fishish 1 episod,

almost as bad as coupling US

  • I laughed so hard at The Persuasionists it caused an infarction in my gall bladder and I died. Read that again, Buckulees, how could I have died when I've written this? You're dreaming again!
