I really enjoy the tutorial. The thing I already know I'm struggling on is the toss. Your finishing toss position is your wrist flipping toward yourself, but every time I attempt to end that the bottle hits the back end of my shoulder, when I try to add just a tad more umph to it then it's too far behind me. Does anybody have tips on the flat toss?
heyy.. My name is Jatin,20 yrs old... I am prsuing my final year in Hotel management from Chandigarh, India.. A few days back thr was a Cocktail Competetion at my college... I won that..:-) And from the bottom of my heart, I want to thank u, as all the tricks n flair moves i learnt from ur videozz, worked perfectly for mee. it is all bcoz of U that i've achieved this... I truly feel that this wud b my first step towards my Dream of becoming a Bartender... THANK U A MILLION TYMS SIR... :-)
one what state are you from? and you mentioned that you really don't have to move the catching hand that much and it should stay within the back of you belt loop, but it's driving me crazy cuz it's not landing every time. I want to learn how to flare just like you, but it's pissing me off not being able to even do this basic simple behind the back flat catch. PLEASE HELP ME GET BETTER!!!
it took me so long to find the 1st lesson.. now that i've found it, i want to do it NOW!! i'm a beginner and i want to learn about flairing.. it's not only because it is related to my course but because i want to learn it and show to everyone what i have.. my friend taught me some of it but i'm not satisfied.. i want to make it on my own.. :)
in our school this trick called drop but it is the same procedure by the way nice videos huh i learned new tricks from your other videos even though im just 17 and cant even go to the bar im interested on flairtending :)) i wish i can do a routine and present it in our school :D
great....... i've been watching all of your video almost everyday because i found that bartending and flairtending is alot of fun by the way im still a newbie so i need to practice more ^^
@finalcs my first lesson was actually just the one where you flip the bottle over the back of your hand, don't give up, try to find more easy lessons, and eventually you'll learn these kind of things easier.
your so good, i hope i can learn your techniques fast...it's my problem today bcoz i have a bartending class and we will have a flair tending on september 10, 2009.. i haven't learn anything about this, i hope this will help me a lot...God bless!
@MangoMyers hey dude do u know any flair clubs or schools?ur lessons r great but it would be awsome if u actually had a school of some sort where ppl can come and practice all these things..just graduated from B School and its very hard to actually find a good place in the field...so i started learning flair..now a days its close to impossible to find a good bartending job if ur not a hot female or don't know flair :|
WOW you explain in great detail and I like how you explain little things "to watch out for" or "something you're probably going to do and should not" But great videos, I know nothing about flairing or juggling and I hope to learn a lot from your videoes. Keep it up !
I'd like to say when I'm flairing at work, I never spill, but it's not true. It happens. The goal is to minimize it so it happens very rarely. I guess I would say a "spill" is unacceptable, a "drip" is livable. However, in this particular move - the flat behind the back - you should be able to do it without either. I have a hunch your grip is off. Grip: your wrist up, thumb touching your tailbone, fingers extended away from the body. Don't grab for it, let it hit your hand. Keep practicing!
What kinda bottle should i use to practice???....glass one or a plastic one??

Now a question of my own: I am using a training bottle, but I can't avoid it to drip when I try a normal flip. Is that supposed to be that way?
papapepepenultimo 3 years ago
I'd like to say when I'm flairing at work, I never spill, but it's not true. It happens. The goal is to minimize it so it happens very rarely. I guess I would say a "spill" is unacceptable, a "drip" is livable. However, in this particular move - the flat behind the back - you should be able to do it without either. As the guy in the video, you can use a special bottle made of PVC. They don't break and they have the same weight.
