  • very good pilot

  • ill have a right window seat please.

  • It was a RR engine that blew on a new A380 and it was sheer luck the plane wasn't lost.

  • Excellent swift controlling.

  • i'll have a KFC popcorn please

  • Wow @ the sheer professionalism of the flight crew & ATC. Really admire these guys. Yea sure they are just doing a job but lets get real this is no "just a jib" where your office PC wont turn on. Those guys up front are a highly trained bunch of people. Nuff respek. All those hours of engine-fails in the sweatbox (sim) pays off!

  • Proves just how much power 1 engine can produce on takeoff - glad they all got back down ok :-)

  • @666ElectricDragon666 evidence or conjecture?

  • OK a couple of dumb questions. 1) Why do I keep seeing a flame every second. Is the engine trying to restart? Then I noticed the engine just stopped flaming...did the pilot shut it down ( I guess you cannot restart the thing in mid-flight)? I had no idea a 757 could not only takeoff but rapidly gain altitude with 1 engine.

  • @SteveWard3928 engines on airliners are made to be able to start in flight. the aircraft are designed to be able to climb affectively on one engine. the engine flames may have been compressor stall from the bent blades. the flame stopped because an engine fire extinguisher was used to make sure the engine didnt catch fire. aviation is a very prudent industry and it takes a number of serious problems to cause a plane to crash.

  • @dombarca97 Simon Lowes, you can find his Youtube channel. Its called 1970splanespotter

    :)

  • that is a gorgeous plane...

  • Amazing job from pilots.

  • The RB-211 515's are an amazing engine, more reliable than PW or GE

  • "Bird debris on the runway" lol

  • Tasty roasted bird

  • WATCH IT BIRDIE!!

  • Fast and accurate pilot's decision to continue the takeoff , tenks films

  • @TheAvigdor in certain aircraft the warning for an engine fire is disabled after v2 until the aircraft is at 400ft AGL

  • @TheAvigdor no choice but to continue takeoff, they had rotated already, you reach a speed before rotate at which you must take off because you cant stop in the remaining space at that space. the speed is calculated for each flight and called V1

  • KFC lol

  • Great flying! The first 10 minutes and the last 10 minutes of airline flights are the most dangerous times.I'd need a change of underwear after that one.The recent landing on the Hudson River in New York was a bird strike too...multiple strikes,IIRC.

  • It sucks to be that bird. No one told the bird to duck.

  • now that's a good pilot!

  • that pilot needs to turn back!

  • The 777 from PIA look like beautiful in her take off.

  • that poor bird :(

  • Amazing recovery! The calmness in the ATC dialogue between controller and crew is incredible. Feel sorry for the bird it just ended its life running into a much bigger 57 bird

  • nice YouTube moment captured!

  • Darn you bird..the location is for metal birds not your type!

  • I was on that flight!

  • @superboeingflyer

That's interesting, Were you aware of what was happening? Could you see the flames from the engine out of the window? and did everyone manage to stay calm?

  • @I85PIES I actually saw the bird go smash into the engine so I was pretty aware that we wernt going far.

  • @superboeingflyer for real? Wow !

  • Man I just love reading all these funny Comments :P

  • well...at least the bird went out with a bang.

  • The passengers must of been scared like crazy :O but at least the pilot stayed calm

  • @abedkh

the point of shooting a chicken at an engine is to prove that the engine will contain an impact without throwing compressor / turbine blades off... not to prove the engine will continue working after a birdstrike, a twin engine aircraft like the 757 is designed to climb out on a single engine so engine failure on take off is not a problem, as shown in this video, see the videos on the british airtours 737 that suffered an uncontained blade seperation at manchester in 1985

  • Today on the menu : Grilled Flying Chicken

  • i thought bird strikes don't matter, i saw videos of airbus and boeing shooting chickens at the engines, can someone please answer my question and tell me why a bird killed this engine and when chickens are shot during testing nothing happens?

  • @abedkh - the point of shooting a chicken at an engine is to prove that the engine will contain an impact without throwing compressor / turbine blades off... not to prove the engine will continue working after a birdstrike, a twin engine aircraft like the 757 is designed to climb out on a single engine so engine failure on take off is not a problem, as shown in this video, see the videos on the british airtours 737 that suffered an uncontained blade seperation at manchester in 1985

  • @abedkh - and all will become clear on the shooting the chicken ( which maybees a frozen turkey ) at the engine test

  • how lucky was this dude to capture a bird strike on film, i mean this isn't like a security camera

  • amazing pilot auful landing

  • @roryj123ok

You try bringing an unstable plane down on one engine, the pilot did well to bring this down as lightly as he did. He'd be compensating like crazy.

  • @eddief32 Yes, you're absolutely right, I'm not a pilot but you can see him "wrestling" the flaps at 2.29+

    Cool, calm and collected....

  • @eddief32 + I bet he was landing overweight.. Good statement mate =)

  • @roryj123ok this is bait mate, fool

  • @ramboormark make sense when you talk...

  • @roryj123ok nice bait ^

  • @ramboormark ...

  • And Ryanair want one pilot, would loved to see one pilot do all the checks, talk to atc and fly the plane in the forst few minutes of srtike!!!

  • A very good pilot.

  • What are the odds of actually experiencing an engine failure at V1ish speed? Ahahaha the irony.

  • rofl bird got OWN3D !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I actually met the first officer on that flight about a year ago, At a Captains dinner party at heathrow and he is a really Nice guy and very down to earth I am a 747-400 pilot and if that ever happend to me i hope i could stay that calm. Good Vid.

  • @24MrNicko Im pretty sure 747 captains don't spend their time on youtube and have a profile with interests of girls, drinking etc.

  • If i were inside that plane at that moment, i would surely need new underwear

  • Fantastic professionalism from the crew there!

  • I wonder what travelers' reaction was when they saw the flame coming out of the engine...

  • @ka3kee2 'Oh SHIT!!!' lol

  • @ka3kee2 lol

kids are shouting were going on holiday woo hoo then one kid says dad are engines ment to do that?

then the dad says let us pray we have the other rolls

  • was the bird ok?

  • @manutd2882 Well, its cooked I guess.

  • @manutd2882 i think the bird is grilled

  • @manutd2882

Yes, the bird is perfect for lunch....

  • @manutd2882 its just been sucked into a jet engine so i doubt it lol

  • Shame it didn't crash - just flying all the chavs out to Lanzagrotty.

  • Is the starboard engine still turning? Or was it shut down?

  • @swiftus27 Completely shut down. It has to be shut down, because it doesn't work.

  • That sounded like my car on a cold morning.

  • what happeend after?

  • @sdgsdgsdgsd3 The Pilot landed safetly and the Passengers got on another flight to Lanzarote.

  • this SAME footage was featureed on a believe it or not show!

  • @TheSaadAhmed125 Also the News

  • We pilots are trained to act professional and keep our cool in situations such as this. Months and years of simulator and real-world training make emergency procedures a second-hand nature (which they should be - seeing that first priority is always maintaining positive control of the aircraft).

Unless the aircraft is severed in half, or a wing completely comes off or something - panicking is totally out of the question. Afterall, if the pilots panic, what hope do the passengers have?

  • @X6insane6X " we pilot" games dont count mate, and pilots wouldnt be as sad as you to state the bloody obvious in a post

  • @belfastgreen Nice try pal. But I have my commercial certificate with instrument and multi ratings. I'm also a CFII-A and I've received training in the CRJ-200.

And it's not really all that obvious, there's a lot of morons out there. Think before you speak next time, thanks.

  • mdr de koi vs causez la???

  • Scary Video

    Best wishes

  • The mistake of the bird not getting takeoff clearance was the cause of this.

  • You have to love how pilots sound calmer in an emergency. Fan-fucking-tastic flying

  • Absolute professionalism. Cool, calm and controlled at every step. I love UK airspace!

  • did he say Wallasey?

  • Amazing, amazing video. I always tried to imagine what it would be like during a bird strike. This is NOT what I had imagined. This is terrible. But fantastic footage here. Felt sorry for that poor little bird.

  • Story

Bird 1: "Ha look at those human beings, they think they can scare us with their technology."

Bird 2 (laughs): "lol. We birds learned how to fly first you dumb humans."

Bird 3: "Watch this guys I'm going to do a stunt so stupid you'll remember me forever."

Bird 1: "Yea sure whatever you say bird 3. Oh hey while you're at it, can I date your sister since you're going to be dead by then?"

Bird 3: "Yea sure whatever man."

Bird 4 (comes in): "What's going on?"

Bird 2: "Bird 3 just died."

  • instant roasted pigeon

  • 5:00 is one of the best shots of a T7 on youtube. The camera is not even focused on it, yet it almost makes the video. Also a very rare opportunity to actually capture a bird stike on film. Great job FL350. 5-Stars

  • So is that how the dodo birds got extinct?

  • probably a turkey

  • omg! 5:00 was fantastic!

  • 5:00 amazing!!

  • birds are now fighting back!

  • 2:38 Reverse thrust on engine 2?

  • mayday, mayday, mayday : we have a new menu for today...cooked birds today only for 5 pound...lol.... btw >> RIP BIRDIE

  • The poor bird!!!

  • Props to the pilot, superlative job.

  • What kind of bird was it? a vulture? must have been a big one.

  • i would of shitted on my pants if i were a passanger on that plane!

  • I've watched this video many times with great interest, I must say that the way this incident was dealt with was of the highest standard I have seen- and heard in a very very long time!!!

The conversation between the two pilots and the ATC controllers was excellent!

I certainley hope the Thomson air crew and the ATC controllers were awarded for there profesionalism and cool headed thinking in this very difficult situation!

Absolutley superb, very well done lads!!!

  • scary if it blew up or somthing

  • just imagine you were sitting in that plane next to the window facing that engine.that would be the scariest shit ever

  • Wasn't the plane landing overweighted because of the fuel onboard?

  • Brave Pilots

  • poor little bird, just out minding her own business, gathering food for her youngsters, having a fly ~

great piloting though, so calm. the value of sim training ~

  • @757AW lol

  • @757AW How do you know it was a female bird, it could have been a male bird browsing around for a mate. It's just a freaking bird though. So less valuable than a plane full of humans in my opinion.

  • @757AW I hope you are not a member of PETA or something nobody cares about BIRDS!! Come on whose life is more important? HUMANS!!

  • @757AW how did you know the bird was female? Or is this a stupid question? Oh and yes, fantastic piloting, I be they did not play welcome to my world tho :-o

  • what a great pilot!!!

  • what are the fucking chances!!!!

  • but will fly back from whichever airport Ive gone to in the 1st place!! love landing at Manchester tho., and big up to Childflight that are based there as well x x look up their website x

  • I love this vid, makes my heart skip a beat every time I watch it, but love the chat between pilot and control.love it x x x will only fly out of manchester x

  • 1) it is spelt plane

    2) you cant travel in small plane, you can travel in small planeS

  • plane, thanks for corrections.

lolz i knew tht but never bother to cahnge it.

  • @pakiboy103 learn to spell and that was a big plane!

  • scary i have airplane videos too check them out

  • good job boys.

  • ok ok

  • 747johan, how can you not see what happened? I doubt you fly often or have done so at all to have posted such a pile of tripe. A very skilled ,professional crew brought all back to earth in one piece.

  • its very rare to see a birdstrike on takeoff.

    Cool vid 5/5*

  • @Y5x No man, it's not cool to see a bird getting the hell burnt out of!! Poor bird got grilled.

  • Your like an literate and an idiot.

  • omg i just knew yesterday that the bird died

  • wow nice video, combustion chamber obviously didnt like having bird inside it lol, cool stuff

  • One of the best aviation videos out there. It really showcases just how professional both the pilots and the ATC are and how important good, clear, and calm communication is in an emergency. Great video again!

  • great vid

  • Id be crappin myself if i was sittin by the window and saw them flames.

  • he had a nice landing

  • damn these birds.... they either take a shit on us, or bust our plane engines....

  • They had the skies before us so technically, they have right-of-way. lol. I know I'm probably gonna get a bunch of thumbs down for it, but I'm just saying.

First bird strike I experienced was on T/O in an EMB175 (pretty much an soda can with model engines) and I couldn't help but laugh when it happened. And it wasn't the funny "haha" it was the psychotic "haha".

  • Outstanding skills from the flight crew there, and a superb response by the airport. Good to hear the radio traffic as well. Great Vid

  • the poor bird =(

  • THE BIRD WHAT ABOUT THE 757?

  • wow, mayday mayday mayday in a take off !! amazing the 757

  • This is still one of the most impressive Vids in this Case Accident.

  • Comment removed

  • The video is a testament to how good the 757 and the RB211 is. The most dangerous time to have a bird strike and a flameout is during take off, many planes have been brought down. But that one seemed like it didn't miss a beat and kept on truck'n.

I spent a year at the Calgary int airport working as a bird and wildlife control officer. Never had a strike on my shift.

  • dont blame the airline blame the fucking bird now got the worst possible suffered death

  • if i was on that plane and i saw the engine breathing fire like that i would have been bricking myself

  • their decision to establish on a certain radial and climb to 3.500 feet after take off is that an emergency procedure for the runway used for take off?

  • Great video indeed. Great to hear all tower and flight conversation as the crisis is managed. Nice also to see how it plays out until aircraft is at the stand. Well done Simon Lowe!

  • hey i was there i shoulded saw you in air wow

  • BRILLIANT VIDEO love the camerawork good clear atc comms b757 is my favourite

  • c est vraiment le mauvais moment pour avoir un reacteur en feu!!! chapeau bas monsieur le pilote! il a bien gérer la puissance pour compenser. 5 etoiles!!

  • Very nice camerawork!

  • thompson airways FTW

  • Good judgement call , it could it be a tragety , thanks god nothing bad happen !!!

  • Maybe he created them just to confuse you!

  • He he he, "BYAW", kind of appropriate, don't ya think!

That's how it's done, nice job all around.

  • but a parachute.lol

  • Ironically you can hear birds singing in the background of this video soundtrack :-)

  • Animals control please!

  • You can't trust pigeons these days

  • oh god no i have watched this and in twi weeks i am flying with thomson and its a 757 and its departing from manchestor!

  • And what's the problem?. Perhaps you think that the birds at Manchester are wating the Thompson's 757 to suicide? lol

  • Went on one of these yesterday very uncomfortable

  • it's not the smallest thing in the world., try a CRJ200 or a MD88. that's uncomforatable (especially the CRJ200, the Md88 really wasn't that bad)

  • Suicide-Birdie!!!!

  • stupid bird! LOL

  • 2:09? This video demonstrates the skill that pilots must exhibit during an emergency.

  • Nice job to the pilot

  • they were lucky that it was not the critical engine that was hit by the bird or else they can't fly like that..congratulation to the pilot..nice emergency landing...

  • i never knew there was a more important engine on a plane...

  • the "critical" engine?

  • Amazing how not even a bird up the airplane engine can bring down the affected airplane. The plane just keeps going and turns around for an emergency landing.

  • LOL @ the birds chipping in the background. Sounds like they planned this.. hmm... =P
