early on rodz had as stunning a physique as mc graw did early on. i was ringside in dc, when rodz was sleepered by taru tanaka. back then a wrestler went out in seconds, and after flailing his arms once or twice, rodz went out so beautifully. nice close up of rick before the match. to see him really looking good, check his match with mr fuji.
Rodz posed a unique delema in the wwf when they had shows at the Garden, although he was a heel he was a big fan favorite at MSG being from NYC. They would put him against other jobbers and he would win and the crowd loved him (at least the shows I went to)
Rodz was a jobber, but much more. He was used 2 test out new talent, was also a scout, & because of all he did 4 the WWE & his loyalty/longevity, was inducted in2 the WWE Hall Of Fame.
Was Mcgraw writing up his weekend drug order for his suppler at 0:11. There are enhancment talent and there are jobbers. Rodz was a jobber, and Mcgraw was a drugged up loser!
Rodz was a jobber only to the huge superstars. He kicked other jobbers' asses with relative ease, and always gave the second tier superstars a bad time before losing. I used to love seeing Rodz beat the shit out of those fresh looking boy toy jobbers, and then strutting about as they lay prostrate and half-conscious on the mat.
Thanks for posting this match--both guys are great! And the Unpredictable Johnny Rodz is still teaching wrestling in Brooklyn!
