Okay, JDAM is GPS guided which means the Aircraft talks to the weapon and gives it its target. Once released, it "correctively guides" to the target based on the GPS coordinates it was given from the launching aircraft. LASER weapons (Which the JDAM is not) required "lacing" of the target by either ground forces, another aircraft or a targeting pod on the launching aircraft. The only weapon that impliments BOTH technologies is the newer Paveway III GBU-24s...Hope this helps.
Ok, in PR you have JDAM requested by commander, pretty big explosion, JDAM dropped by jet, who is lazer guided, because in PR, the officier and sniper kit have a GTLD (ground target lazer designator), so the bomb dropped by the jet will go to the lazer location who was pointed by the officier or sniper!
in reallife the jdam is without engine and just laser-guided, the soflam points a laser on a target, not a projectile, you have to hold the soflam on the target until the bomb hits it..
wth? first of all the JDAM IS LASER GUIDED. GBU-31 is a JDAM, and GBU means Guided Bomb Unit.
Yes we know it got no engine.
In bf2 engine does not support "lasers" so there needs to be a projectile for a laser.
The JDAM in PR is just called in by requesting the commander. No real laser guided there though it is suppose to kind of pretend giving in cords for GPS.
Bah! I am talking about the one requested about commander at the last paragraph of my response. I know this is a GBU-31 or GBU-32(can't tell which one really because of the explosion strength in PR) dropped from a GR4 tornado.

A 500lb gps/laser guided jdam, the old model. There is a new one now.

smartass, in PR it is not laserguidet

The jdams used by the jets are laser guided. The soflam fires a laser target projectile, which the bomb tracks.

But this is the BF2 engine, and laser objects have to be attached to projectiles.
alex6714 3 years ago
and the jdam is not laserguided, you have to drop it in the right moment...

Are we talking about real life or PR here?

Both bombs are dropped from a Eurofighter, second one you can´t see the plane because I was very high.

In AiX, the F117 nighthawk can "fire" a laser, and its laser guided missle will look onto the location and land on it.
sike3000 2 years ago
that was no laserguided
Scorpac 3 years ago
It was, i just dropped it without guidance.

I don't like the 30mm canon of the chopper... no-realistic in my opinions!

The splash of the 30mm looks too small...
