Very impressive playing, Aaron. I imagine they aren't easy to memorise. Late Beethoven they aien't but your playing of the Witch was suitably spooky and of Punch was suitably .. well, whatever it has to be !!! I think these would be great encore pieces to wow an audience before a final encore of say a slow Chopin waltz or Saint Saens's The Swan [Sorry, I can't do diaereses in this program]. After all the effort of getting them up it would be a shame to drop them from your repertoire.
Thanks for your interest in the Villa-Lobos pieces. I just picked up some other 21st century music, a piece by William Bolcom. I really enjoy playing it, but it's hard to keep everything up.
You're great. You have an impressive tehnique.I like contemporany music, too.I play a romanian piece "Titirezul",the composer is Constantin Silvestri and there are a lot of glissando.I hope you enjoy it,too.
When you are not familiar with Heitor Villa Lobos' music, these glissando's may seem a bit strange. Having seen you (and Ariel Lanyi for that matter), I am no longer abhorred by the glissando technique, nor the clusters. I might become an admirer of contemporary music after all. At any rate: I loved your performance. Best wishes,
I"m glad that you enjoy my glissandos and that you enjoy contemporary music! I really enjoy it too. Thank you so much for continuing to watch my videos!
If only you knew how much I wish I was you. Sometimes I worry that I'll never be able to play the music I would love to. Your playing is incredible. xXx
I have nothing against your playing, but why do piano teachers assign Villa Lobos of all people? Villa Losbos music is nothing more than a cacophony of cheap tricks and ugly dissonances.
Great job! I think you are ready to take the next step: putting more feelings into the music. I could feel/ see more passion in this clip. Keep up the good work, Aaron. I can see you becoming one of the greatest pianists in your generation (no pressure ;) ).
