  • Doesn't newspaper have lots of chemicals? i'd rather just use a paper towel or piece of cloth

  • dur, did you ever stop to think that newspaper ink may not be organic but instead, slightly toxic? abuh.

  • You can buy wheatgrass seeds online just google I live in Canada found a lot of sites of your in the states u get a bigger selection probably and I agree what else can I use other then newspaper I'm in the printing business and it is not a chemical free business let me tell u that there is NASTY chemicals in printing very good video and very helpful thx !!!

  • @1800hustle Just use paper towels or a cloth towel that has been dampened if you don't want to use newspaper.

Thanks for watching. Check out my other channel: cafejanae for lots of healthy cooking videos

  • Hi,can you help me please? hey wear or from what site i can buy wheatgrass seeds? Thanks.

  • great video on wheat grass very helpful thank u

  • can i use fox farm organic ocean forest soil??

  • This and part 1 are the 2 best videos on the topic I've seen. Thank you! I laughed when you showed your 7-day flat. WOW... I've never seen it so tall! You obviously do it right. What's the name of the compost you get at Home Depot again? I live in the desert too.

  • ha-taaay

  • i dont like the news paper can i use other paper?

  • @romakanafa I know gross what can we use besides news paper? And BTW what are you doing this week baby let's go out on a date your ok lookin!

  • Can i use a flourescent light like in a basement when its about an inch tall. Also, how much light per 24 hours is needed, or is it the whole time?

  • thanks so much for sharing. BTW- YOU ARE PRETTY

  • I wonder about the safety of using colored newspaper...too many chemicals.

  • The juicer is so expensive though. How much time do you spend a day growing the wheat grass? If I only want 2-3 oz of wheat grass a day, I just need 8 small boxes instead of the 1 big one you use to make 16 oz. If I don't have any sunlight, what affordable light you recommend I can buy and how much per day it need? Thanks.

  • Ignore the maniac spamming about Bybel. It's just Jason RepaTard talking to himself (again) lolz.

  • Oh Repa....hey CLUELESS.... nobody cares but you. If it took me more than 5 minutes a day to destroy your work, I wouldn't bother lolz.

  • Would somebody mind selling Repa a clue. He doesn't have any lolz.

  • Repa posted a lengthy and stupid rant about poker being strictly a game of luck. Like the pros win year after year by luck alone.

  • Don't let Repa get near your pets. He gets a thrill out of hurting animals.

  • wow grasswheat with ink.lol

  • great job! very informative

  • can you harvest and then keep growing, or do you have to start all over again?

  • Using newpapers with the nasty dyes and chemicals in them could not possibly be healthy. You could cover the top with aluminum foil. Thanks for the video.

  • @markpianoman With your mentality you're going to need to live in a bubble and never touch anything. You're a case of a little bit of knowledge is a dangerous thing. Covering the seeds with newspaper is fine. First of all, the ink is edible, secondly we dealing with such tiny quantities it's completely insignificant.

  • which juicer do you use?

  • Hi Janae, I am wondering how you go about cutting the wheatgrass. Do you use regular scissors? Thanks. Also, really nice videos.

  • gr8 information and i also tried but i have one problem , which is i can see white fungus on the soil,is it a problem and how can i get rid of this problem pls reply

  • what is the approximate cost per ounce of juice to produce? Do you drink all 16 ounces per day, or sell the grass?

  • Thanks for your video, very informative.

  • nice one

  • Comment removed

  • Excellent. Thank you so much for this :-)

  • what to do it mold grows at the roots? can you still harvest and juice the grass?

  • @HecubaProductions

you can avoid mold by putting a low fan on the roots, or you can add a bit of sea salt to the water. Many times the powdered azomite prevents mold as well. If you have mold on the roots, you can cut a couple of inches above the mold and then soak the wheatgrass in a solution of water and apple cider vinegar for 5 minutes..... then rinse well before juicing. If you are sensitive to mold, you may just want to begin again.

  • ok, i have a question janae, i grow wheat grass in a tray but the soil make a strange spoiled bad smell is it because there is no opening for the water to drip or is it because the soil need help THX!~

  • @Bunny5O1

Yes, you need lots of holes in the bottom to facilitate good drainage.... otherwise the soil and roots will rot. :S

  • HI there,

What do you do once you have harvested? Like, do you throw away the soil etc?

    Thanks,

    Jeff.

    BTW, great video.

  • @harrija76

Thanks. I compost the soil and roots and re use the compost after it has been processed.

  • @paydes36

Thank you so much for the information. I will try to do the same way.

  • @harrija76

    Compost it

  • thank you for the info great video. can i use blender for jucing?

  • @anikos125

you can if there is no other option, but you loose a lot of nutrition from blending. It's better to get a wheat grass juicer and press the juice from the grass for optimum nutrition.

  • wow! your extremely beautiful!! Great vid too :)

  • How many ounces of Wheat Grass juice do you drink daily? Where did you purchase your black seeding flats?

  • @superstudent66

1-4 ounces per day. You can get the trays at a gardening store or a wheat grass supply store. Google it or call a nursery in your area.

  • OMG YOU ROCK!! I loved this video. Every smart, and good information! Im so going to try that =) you have a great day 2 !

  • hello!! just have a quick question.. i managed to harvest grass from 4 trays but now two seem to b going brown.. i'm trying to figure out what the problem might be :/ is this common?

  • Thank you so much ; ) very helpful

  • She's so cute!!!!!

  • Thanks for that info, it's coming in really handy. After I harvest the wheatgrass, can I juice it and freeze it? I went to a local juice bar and they had it in the freezer. Thanks, you're a fantastic help, and you look so proffesional!

  • @lauriem1967

yes, you can freeze it if you do it right away. Don't let it sit out for more than a few minutes.

  • Wow that really helped a lot. I recently bought a wheat grass growing set thats been sitting on my kitchen table because it didn't have good instructions. Thanks for getting me motivated again. How much juice do you drink a day?

  • Can you tell me what you do with the tray after you harvested ? Are you going to throw out the contents or is the wheatgrass going to keep growing ? Please let me know, I am ready to harvest...

  • news paper in US must only use vegetable oil base ink. so it's not toxic

  • The newspaper is not organic; and it leaks some ink into wheat...

  • what do you put over the soil? i don't understand that word. thanks a lot!

  • Dang girl . you are just full of energy ! Thanks for the video . VERY NICE OF YOU. I am going to be growing my own soon

  • is it true that you can dry it out and smoke it and get 50 % more nutrients than when you smoke pine needles?

  • yeah gets you high as a kite to :)

  • what hapens if u smoke pine needles?

  • Thanks so much for your time and information. I've spent days looking at different videos and websites that are either incomplete, hard to follow or trying to sell me a kit or book on how to grow wheat grass. Yours by far (along with Tisha's) was the best..

  • Nice Video, thanks for sharing with us how its done.

  • one more thing, you're sexy.

  • are you married? i cant see your waving your hands too handsomely get it get it wink wink, redheards are my life, and this juice has increased my libido slightly.

  • okay, maybe a dumb question but here it goes. You said you juice a tray a day and get roughly 16 ounces of juice. What do you use all that juice for? I mean don't we just need 2 ounces a day for a healthy system?

  • Lovely! Thanks for the great info and clear demonstration

  • I loved ths video series! You were wonderful and clear and helpful! ^The only thing that is NEVER covered is can you just let that try that was harvested regrow again? Do you throw it? TELL ME I am starting my first try right now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Thank you

  • yes I wanted to ask this too?

  • A WORD OF WARNING..i would not use newspaper on top, all that ink which is actually like lead!!! or somethin, def not healthy anyway :) good vid apart from that.. thanks

  • The ink is not lead it is vegtible based per federal regulation 1936 all newspaper ink must be vegtable oil based and non toxic.

  • well, i am form england and don't think we have such regulations here unfortunately, just tried my first wheatgrass today and am suprised how nice it tastes, u can tell how powerful it is!!

  • great video! thanks for sharing!

  • i was wondering is the nutrional value of wheatgrass grown without soil different from wheatgrass grown with soil?

  • you have to grow some of it long to get seeds.....

  • very good video and you look so beautiful

  • you're beautiful!

  • instead of using the azomite powder could you also use hydrated bentominte clay...would it be any different?

  • If it tastes bitter and/or makes you feel ill, you may have mold in your wheatgrass, thats usually the sign.

  • so is it bad to drink the juice if it tastes bitter?

  • hmmm i am using organic compost and organic seeds. i water it about 3 times a day keeping the soil moist. it seems to be growing really slow. i keep my wheatgrass trays outside maybe its getting too much sun?

  • It's a tragedy to post such a great and healthy video for folks just to ignore their questions. You look great by the way. Not only slender but simply healthy looking. There must be something to this wheatgrass. Please answer a few questions below. It's times like these where we are being poisoned at every turn that we need to help each other out. Thanks

  • Thanks for the comment. I'm a single parent and full time student..... sometimes my youtube account is my last priority.... however, I'll try to answer a few questions below.

    To your health!

    Janae

  • do you realize the newspaper is full of toxins? You are then wetting it and leaking the toxins onto the wheatgrass. Kind of defeats the whole purpose of the healthy wheat grass.

  • Yes newspaper is full of toxins. Generally there is not a lot of contact between the paper and the grass though, since you take the paper off as soon as the grass sprouts. The paper is just to keep the seeds dark and keep the water from evaporating too fast. If you are super worried about it you can use paper towels, burlap, or other organic cloth instead.

  • howcome my wheatgrass juice is a little bit bitter? it doesn't taste like the kind i buy at the store..

  • It could be your seeds, it could be your soil, it could be the amount of water you use, or you may have a bit of mold on your grass. try using richer soil (organic compost), use organic seed, and make sure you give your grass plenty of water. Good luck.

  • Will it grow back after harvesting? Thanks

  • Yes, it will grow back. Keep in mind however that each time it grows back you loose 50% of the nutrition. Thus the first harvest is 100% nutrition, second harvest 50% nutrition, and 3rd harvest 25%.....etc. I wouldn't recut it more than the second cut.

  • Love this video but 1 tray a day just for one person? wow that is alot. You must have family.

But you are so nice and you look great too, healthy

  • Yes, its for more than one person, however, I find that if I have extra I can freeze it in ice cube trays and have it on hand for later (pack the wheat grass cubes in freezer bags after they are frozen).

  • Thanks!

  • Thank you honey for your good information

  • I found maggots in one of my wheat grass trays. Gross!!!! YUCK!!!! What did I do wrong? I had them outside and then when they were close to harvest time I brought them into the house. HELP!!!! I WANT MY WHEATGRASS!!

  • Bugs happen. If it is a problem, you can cover the trays with netting to keep the bugs out. Also make sure your soil and seed are bug free before you use them.

    Good luck

  • You are very beautiful. Good video, informative.

  • Thanks

  • Thanks for the vids....This is something I might try

  • why is my wheatgrass red??

  • That happened to me when I bought soft wheatberries instead of hard

  • Thanks a lot for these videos. I have started growing wheatgrass and your vids help a lot. I have watched them multiple times to get the process down. My first tray is about to be harvested and I am very pleased with the results so far.

Your 1 tray per day; is that for yourself or a few people? Is it easy to keep the cycle going of planting/harvesting every day?

    Thanks again!

  • My 1 tray a day is for two people, but we often freeze the leftovers if we have them. Once you get a system going, it's easy to keep it going. I can put seeds to soak, plant a new batch, water and juice a tray in under 20 min usually. If you only want to plant every other day or twice a week that would work as well.

  • ありがとうございます~。

    日本ではウィートグラスがマイナーでほとんど育ててる人がいないので参考になりました!

    今育てててあまり上手く出来なかった理由が分かりました!

    Thanks from japan

  • thank you :-)

  • Thank you very much for making those videos, very helpful.

    Peace.

  • That was very informative. You not only showed us how to grow wheatgrass, but gave us tips of nutritional benefits, and how to get maximum yield. Much appreciated :)

  • Do i have to use a different tray once wheatgrass is grown for next batch or will it keep growing?

  • Great Video. Once harvested will the grass regrow or is it Done ? Ive seen in the past the grass being trimmed juiced and then put into a smoothie drink. Are you losing all the benefits ????

  • Awesome video, I've watched all the ones on wheatgrass and you have done an exceptional job at explaining. Thanks. Can you give us a demo on juicing and which juicer you prefer? Why do you use so much everyday? How much do you personally drink daily, if you don't mind my asking ;)

  • Check out the Omega masticating juicers. They're very versatile and can do several jobs at once. Try scouring craigslist or kijiji to find a cheap used one locally.

My understanding on the large use of wheatgrass is because the juice yield isn't that high.

  • Water, Water Everywhere. About 5 Gal of water to produce 10 oz of Wheat Grass, Now thats environmentally friendly.

  • Well if you are so worried about the environment I hope you are a vegan. It takes more than 2,000 gallons of water to produce a pound of beef. If you look at food production in general, you can't produce much without using water. The key is to get the most nutritional value out of the water you use. Wheat grass juice being one of the most nutritionally dense foods available, I think it is reasonable to argue that it is a responsible use of water.

  • I have watched your video several times because I am starting to grow myself thanks to you! You are so cute and just darling in your demo! Thanks alot for teaching the rest of us. Your videos are the best "how to grow wheatgrass" on the net!

  • thank you!

  • Excellente video; very informative!!! Thank you so much.

  • This is an excellent video!

But p l e a s e folks, don't use newspapers to cover it up. Printing ink is poisonous!

  • Good point. If you are worried use paper towels or organic fabric instead.

  • @nicacuno You are wrong, nicanu, printing ink is generally edible.

  • @jasonrepa Just because you can eat it doesn't mean its good for you. Use a clean towel that was washed in water only, no bleach or detergent. The inc has no positive value for you you shouldn't put it in your body. If the ink has a neutral value then it still something your body has to clean out.

  • @abbaar I never said it was "good for you". You're misquoting me and making up nonsense as you go along. Learn how to read and comprehend English and respond to what was ACTUALLY SAID, not your twisted interpretation of what was said.

There is nothing wrong with using newspaper to cover the wheat berries. Lot's of people use that. Your body doesn't have to clean out anything. You're not soaking the newspaper in water and watering the seeds with it. A negligible amount is getting into the plant

  • @jasonrepa Anything that smells as "chemical" as printing ink should be kept far from food! I would NOT cover my young wheatgrass with newpapers! I use aluminum foil -- costs more, but no danger of chemical contamination.

  • @markpianoman the best cover is another tray, allows air n darkness , done, dont know why nobody teaches this, makes perfect sense, works everytime

  • Thank you!!

I wanted to know how to cut it, you are the first i hear giving the all explanation... cool!

We don't have the same mesuring system, that is my only problem... :(

Thank for a frenchie living in Australia :)

  • I can use the metric system if you like. What do you want to know about cutting it?

  • very informative

thank you for sharing your knowledge

  • Merci - Gracia - Todah - Thank you.

    Wonderful effort for us!

    GOD bless you richly.

  • Wonderful instructions, thank you!!

  • i did it the way you show here. I have mold problem. what is wrong?

  • Depends on the environment and the humidity. Try using lightly salted water to water with, and you can also try turning a fan on low and blowing it at the roots... get the air circulating - you'll just have to water more often..

  • This is the most informative video on growing wheatgrass that I have seen. Thanks for sharing and God bless you. What are the most visible benefits that I should watch out for once I start taking the juice?

  • Many benefits. Wheat grass is packed with nutrition, antioxidants., and is a great detoxifier. Everyone will experience different results.

  • aloha, great vid, what was the name of the rock dust use? and 16 - 20 oz. of jucie per tray is alot. i dont think i get 10 oz. i think i am going to try a tray a day for 30 and see if anything happens. what is the therory of putting the grass top first into the juicer? what kind of seed do you use, i use hard winter wheat, are there better berries i can use?

    mahalo

  • She's using Azomite by Peak Minerals.

  • Hi I live in the UK and no one here seems to know about wheat grass, where do you think I could get the seeds from ? And also was the crushed rock called ? (white suff in the shaker) where can I get that ?

  • the crushed rock is called rock dust, you will get it at most garden centers, i live in the UK too and found it at my local garden center. You will have to buy your seeds online, there a few sites that deliver in the Uk, however you wont find much variety in seed choices, durum only as far as im aware.

  • Thanks for that, ya I found seeds + trays ect. online I got a starter kit from Brow Farm Ltd. I just have one more question do you have to have a specialized juicer ? I have a blender and a jucier that does apples, pears that sort of thing ?

  • yeah I have a manual juicer, it cost about £30 from amazon. I read you are better off with a juicer opposed to a blender as blenders heat the wheatgrass too much in the process and kill much of the nutrients, You can buy electric juicers but they cost a lot more. Ive heard opposing advice about using a blender vs juicer, but for £30 thought it was worth the investment, and yes I think it can be used to juice pretty much any fruit/veg.

  • I bought a juicer that specified it could be used for wheatgrass, im not sure what the difference is between this and any other generic juicer. Not too much I would imagine. However wheatgrass is quite fibrous and probably requires a fairly efficient juicer to get the most juice out of the grass.

  • You are looking for "Hard Winter Wheat" seeds.

Also, the Healthyjuicer - Manual Hand Juicer is great for wheatgrass and sells for about $45 USD.

    Good luck to you!

  • Fantastic wheat grass video, thankyou very much. How much wheat grass juice do you drink a day? Did it take you long to get used to it? Have you noticed any health benefits?

  • What is the name of your website? When i add water to my seeds before planting, do i put them in the refrigerator or in a dark place? Also where can i get the white stuff in the shaker?

  • Very good video, crisp and clear. Thanks for posting it!

  • duz the wheatgrass grow back once u have harvested it?

  • I do NOT recommend using newspaper. Use paper towels, and then cover them with an empty tray. just make sure to spray with water once a day or so.

I do NOT trust newspaper, or any company that purports that it is not toxic. You can't be too trusting these days. Better to be safe than unhealthy.

Paper towel + empty tray instead of newspaper.

Great Video by the way!! I look to it for help a lot. thanks.

  • The dye in the paper is toxic

  • damn you are hot!!!

  • Hi Paydes36... Nice demo, im just about to harvest my first tray of wheatgrass, its taken over 2 weeks to grow,is that normal? Im from Ireland and its probably from from the lack of sunshine this time of year im thinking .. I was wondring how much juice should i drink per day starting off as i am ?

  • just drink like one little tiny glass per morning you dont need tht much as it is too nutrisus

  • i want to try tht but where can i buy the beans????pls help me

  • i want to try wheatgrass experience where do i start??where can i buy wheatgrass beans???pls help me

  • I do have a serious question for anyone who may know? I wonder how long the seeds last (is there a shelf life if not planted?)if not used at a rapid rate. I want to buy a 10 pound bag but it's only myself that juices it. My wife doesn't much like it. Only my 2 fat cats help me use the grass. Dumb question but don't want a bunch of seeds going bad. Thanks!

    Mike

  • as long as they don't get damp, you have nothing to worry about.

  • any type of seeds can last for up to 75 years, if they are not damp.

  • Thank you! Too bad my wife says I'm all wet........

  • Good one!

  • Such a helpful video series. After 2 weeks searching for trays I have given up & need to order online & pay shipping however. But I am tired of paying $10.00 for a flat of wheatgrass so have all but the darn trays. Hard to believe North San Diego is out of seeding trays.... Thanks again for this effort. Actually gave my wife Trish the nerve to help me try making juicing videos. She quit however as I was unable to be "serious" enough to suit her. Never underestimate the value of this video,Mike

  • mix the wheat grass with orange juice taste better..

  • awesome video and thanks so much cutie

  • Janae, I am so grateful to you! You have no idea how helpful this video was. Perfect!!!

  • How do you get seeds from some of your wheat grass so you do not need to keep buying it?

  • Growing wheat grass is fairly easy.

The hard part is drinking the stuff...

Any tips on how to make it easier to drink?

  • where do you buy your seeds?

  • after u harvest do you re-water and let it grow or do u disgard and start the process all over?

  • Good Presentation...very informative.

  • how much juice do you get from 1 tray?

  • All of you are obviously into this whole wheat grass thing...

    Tried it, its gross...

Gave it to a friend, almost lost a friend...

Went home and researched it, its borderline bogus.

Sure it has nutrients, not as much as you think. Look it up on a site thats not selling juicers.

Whats next? Maple Leaf juice? omg I said that out loud... I could have made millions :S

  • Tell Me How Is It Bogus?

  • I guess that is why The Hippocrates Institute has used wheat grass juice as a part of their program for 50 years! They have proved the benefits through blood analysis and the healing of thousands of patients with chronic desease.

Go back to eating your twinkies, Big Macs and cokes. Your body will have a strong reaction to any healthy food because it is toxic.

  • beutiful just beutiful, the wheatgrass looks good too.

  • love your vid^^

  • Awesome video. You rock! Thanks so much for sharing. I am going to try to do this soon. Very excited. You made it look so doable. I'll look for your website and get my list together.

  • Great video. esp at the end with the kid emergency 3:54

  • is there anywhere that i can pick up the flats to grow the weheatgrass, and where should i go to buy the wheatgrass seeds

  • Great video! One of the best on wheatgrass. You forgot to mention your website, what's your website?

  • Thanks alot for your time and effort in preparing this video.. I will have to have a go at it now..

  • Wow thank you! Maybe even I can do this????

  • why in the world would you put a dirty newspaper on top of your perfectly organic sprouts and then spray the ink with water... hmmm... BONKERS Janae.

  • Yes, this is something which I was puzzled about as a novice eagerly awaiting my seeds to arrive in the post, I'm trying to find out as much as I can about growing this stuff before I get to cultivate, so what's the deal with covering them up?

don't they like the light at first?
