This game is no way a short game. It took me around 45 h to finish the main story with some sidequests on the side and I had a blast all the way through.
I beat Skyward Sword and I loved it. Super epic story (fucking origins), awesome motion controls (love the sword and the bow), liked the graphics (especially during eldin volcano) and a bunch of features from previous zelda games mixed into one game, like collecting tears to fill vessels(TP), a stealth section in the game (WW), finding sheikah stones (OoT),etc. I just wish they had remade bolero of fire on the harp and maybe added dark link as a boss, considering this game´s swordplay kicks ass
How come many people think twilight princess was disappointing? It was the first zelda game I ever owned, I had already played the franchise before tho. I always used to play ocarina of time, a link to the past and majoras mask with my cousin and totally loved it. Then when the wii came out I bought twilight princess and became my fav game. For me TP was like OoT with better graphics and a new cool story.
Twilight Princess was a good game, but it was waaaaay too easy. I like to have to use my brain when playing a game, and TP really didn't prove that challenging. That's why I didn't like it as much as OT or SS, or even WW. Not saying it's bad, but it wasn't as good as I wanted it to be.
Fair review. The only thing I disagree with is when you say it gets off to a slow start. It is true I suppose.. but the whole Zelda/Link relationship is almost at it's best in the begininning, not to mention it's a shorter and less tedious "begininning" than say Twilight Princess or Ocarina of TIme, those had boring beginnings. Otherwise great review.
I agree with literally everything you said, awesome review. Twilight Princess was an example of what the series should not be doing. It introduced noting new to the table, and focused more on being cinematic and "cool" than stepping forward in game design. Skyward Sword, however, matches Twilight Princess in cinematic quality but also takes a huge leap forward in gameplay, which is what the series desperately needed.
i think it's a fantastic game, but far too short. And they could have made more out of it, for example: too few islands in the sky! and i would have wished to travel in a bigger world down on the earth. .. apart from that the game was fantastic!

Why people keep calling Twilight Princess a disappointment? I thought it's a great game with great character design and development. I really wanna save Ilia and other kids in Twilight Princess, more than I want to save Zelda in Skyward Sword.

What was wrong with Twilight Princess? You can't condemn the game just because it didn't make full use of the Wii controls, it wasn't meant for the Wii it was ported over from gamecube, its Nintendo's laziness the affected it. And the art style made Zelda a bit more adult which I think the adult story line should be(But I will say l adore the Skyward Sword art style).

I liked the darker atmosphere in Twilight Princess a lot more than this Zelda. The desperation of being trapped as a wolf, the ever growing expanding Hyrule, the music... I miss that in this Zelda. I know a lot of you are dissing Twilight Princess, but I still think it's the best Zelda game ever made.
am i the only one who thinks twilight princess was harder than skyward sword? i got 18 heart containers and i barely tried in skyward sword, plus i upgraded almost all of my items fully EASILY. and in twilight princess i only got 14 heart containers, never got many golden bugs or poe souls and i got way more stuck in twilight princess.
I for one agree that twilight princess was a bad zelda game. It was not a bad game but it was a bad zelda game. It lacked charm, it had repetitive music, the game was to easy, the art style sucked, the boss fights were disappointing, the items were useless, it was filled with moments that felt embarrassing, it had more plot holes then every zelda game combined, and it was not a dark and mature game like it advertised itself as. The most annoying aspect was that it felt rushed and incomplete
@xXzumiesXx2 i competely disagree. its music wasnt repetative, take for example boss themes, the only boss themes alike were morpheel and agorok. oot was totally different with the boss battles, almost all boss battles had the same music. the game wasnt easy either, it had really hard dungeons that i got lost in like the city in the sky, plus the heart pieces were very well hidden. the boss battles had were the best for me, not like the easy as hell bosses in oot, wind waker, and more.
@victinifan13 the music was repetitive because almost every piece of music was just the twilight princess field theme recycled even the boss fights did this when you start damaging the bosses. Sorry but I never once got lost in twilight princess all the puzzles were straight forward. I think the bosses suck because they either copied Shadow of the colossus or they were just stupid like the stalord. I mean whoever though that link riding a top was a smart idea was on crack.
@xXzumiesXx2 i dont know if you know this but most zelda games do that. look at skyward swords theme, the song is basically a remixed zelda lullaby from ocarina of time. you know that when the boss is expossed and that theme comes has never been really done before, and how would you change that for every boss, your simply asking for too much. most bosses from that game were my favorite, especially blizzeta, i mean the games never done were they made the boss on your side until the fight.
@victinifan13 actually in link to the past there was a boss who was on your side and then changed into a monster so blizetta is really nothing new. I am not asking that every boss music should different I just dont want every piece of music to be the same thing as the field music. Faron woods, Midnas lament, the castle town, the lake, the dessert, the boss music, and even the training music was just the overworld theme played a bit differently. Every other piece of music was from the other games
@xXzumiesXx2 no just no, of corse the lake theme and the hylian field will be alot alike, because lake hylia is part of hylian field. all the boss battles are unique, with the fight and the music, none of them are alike at all. and just because a boss isnt hard doesnt mean it isnt fun, take for instance armagohma, he was easy but you get to squish him! i thought i was fun to squish a giant bug like you do a small one. and like i said most music in zelda games is just a remix of another song...

Twilight Princess was like a sequel to Majora's Mask, darker and not quite as fun as OOT. Skyward Sword felt like a sequel to Link to the Past, Ocarina of Time, Wind Waker, Phantom Hourglass and all of the other amazing Zelda titles: everything we love about the franchise is there with some great new additions and features, more ways to explore and all around a blast of an adventure game. This is what made Zelda a Legend (pun) in the first place, keep it up Nintendo.
@21Narutoking Kind of. The first SS dungeon is very straightforward. The second dungeon is a bit harder. The third dungeon is where things REALLY get creative. You'll notice the amazing design of the game early on, but once you hit dungeon three, the game becomes truly amazing.
Zelda SS is rather straightforward but it also has the most content and has the longest dungeons in a Zelda game with the best combat in a Zelda game yet. In short, it's better than OoT.

@21Narutoking lol you'll love the game. BUT AVOID ALL SPOILERS, lol. This is the best Zelda story yet in the series. The graphics are amazing with the art style. People say it's the exact same formula but let me tell you, it's not. 1-Combat has been completely set to another level, 2-Most of the items are new, and returning are used differently, 3-The only thing that stays true to the "3D Zelda formula" is getting "X" number of "Y" item as a means to move story. That's it lol.
Wind Waker brought so much into the franchise; I can't believe people actually dislike it for the visual style alone. If OoT allowed Link to Lock On and use his sword in a 3D space, then WW allowed Link to properly move himself in a 3D space during combat, bringing in the largest number of new sword moves in any Zelda game. It brought a level of character expression not seen before in the franchise in Link's hilarious facial expressions and actions, which SS builds on. It's also a solid game.
Don't know why people hate Twilight Princess and love Wind Waker. I don't even consider Wind Waker to be PART of the Zelda series. It's like the Phillips CD-i games. It never happened.
The only Zelda I never beat or liked was Windwaker. It's crazy to me that anyone liked that game. I just could not get over the childish look. Twilight Princess was a welcome release to that bullshit.
Most of my friends love the Zelda Series and I just can't stand the repeating "Zelda is gone, Ganon is behind it, go save" story. So I never got into it.
And then there was Twilight Princess. I LOVED the game to death. And now it is suddenly a dissapointment? No wonder I Can never be a Zelda fan xD

This game is a straight upgrade from Twilight Princess. Before this I, controversially, preferred Twilight Princess to Ocarina of Time. I felt that Twilight Princess was a more polished and story heavy than Ocarina of Time, with much better gameplay. Now Skyward Sword has come as a straight improvement from the previous games. It maintains the integrity of level, character and puzzle design we've all grown to love, but manages to introduce just enough aspects to make a new game. 4.5 is alright.
This deserves way more Likes than Dislikes seriously. For those who are getting mad and giving this video so many dislikes cause you are angry about what he said about Twilight Princess get over it he isn't bashing your game. twilight princess was a very good game, but i can understand how you really didnt like it if you only played it on wii. you always have to keep in mind that twilight princess was made for the gamecube and just released with the wii as well. also there is no doubt this is the best game on the wii and possibly of all time.
Seeing most of these comments, I'll say it right here and now;
I hate Ocarina of Time. Everything feels stale and repetitive, small and compact and overall just boring. In fact, it doesn't even remotely make my top 3.
And Skyward Sword was... well, pretty damn good. The only thing keeping it from being my favorite was the lack of memorable music. And as much as people hate Wind Waker, it's still my favorite Zelda ever.
twilight princess was a good game, but it wasnt up to par with the others of the series. it was mostly the fault of the tacked-on motion controls, and the fact that the game felt so...gloomy.

@Phenderz TP was okay, but it didn't live up to expectations. One of the most commonly mentioned disappointing features was that many of the dungeon items were only useful in the dungeons where they were found, and maybe one or two overworld heartpiece locations... for me, the overworld, and hyrule city were very bland and had little charm. I liked the game, but it wasn't amazing.
@Phenderz when it came out i loved it to death. 5 years on, i can't remember any of the key points of that game. it was the most forgettable zelda experience i've ever played.
@CinematicallyUnhappy too true! tried re-playing it about a month ago to get myself back into it, the intro is just soo boring and the wolf forms are horrible >.< wind waker however i have completed around 50 times :D
@Phenderz dito my friend me too, so far i have loved every console outing of zelda, an granted the tears of light you have to collect in twilight princess at the start is very boring but after that the game is epic to the very end! infact i prefer it to skyward sword dont get me wrong, i love the fact skyward sword is way more hardcore in the combat area, an i wish twilight on wii had the wii motion plus controls, i like zelda to be challenging an rewarding an i found the last 2 were too easy
@Phenderz Out of all the Zelda games TP is my least favorite. Here are the problems I had with it.
1. The art style, realistic doesn't a Zelda game at all, I almost fell asleep looking at the grey and brown colors of the world.
2. The difficulty, the game is to easy, simple as that.
3. Hyrule, everyone praises TP for being a bigger Zelda game, while I appreciate Nintendo for trying to expand the world they made it to big, it's just a big empty space with nothing in it.
@Phenderz I do as well. i mean, it was beautiful, the graphics were impressive (not dissing but PRAISING this games as well) the puzzles were fun, and i felt it was a welcome and effective addition to the series. i will admit i feel this game is more superior, but only just. Both games deserve praise, and i hope you feel the same:)
@Phenderz I loved it too, but not as a WII game. It always felt like a Gamecube port, probably because it was a gamecube port; WE were expecting awesome motion controls and use of the wii technology, instead we got button mashing and slight swishes of the wrist. TP wasn't the AMAZING game we were expecting.
Twilight princess was not praised by everyone.. But it was a good and epic game, and many gamers favorite zelda game, personally i don't agree.

@ThePossumReport gamespot is garbage. The toughest and hardest reviewers gave Zelda:SS a perfect score, and they didn't. Gamepot's review was garbage, both in the score and context wise
Twilight Princess was a very good game, but I agree that it was a bit disappointing; it was too easy, the wolf mechanic felt like filler, and it ultimately did not feel as inspired as either Oot, WW, or MM.
Call of Duty has ruined many critics opinions. Also, Twilight Princess was amazing :l Like...it was AMAZING as crap. You want a dissapointing Zelda game? Well then...the only dissapointing zelda i could think of are the DS titles lmao.

EDGE magazine, the toughest reviewers out there...Famitsu, the best reviewing system out there....and IGN, the one's with the rarest to give 10s and has an unbiased Nintendo editor team.....all gave Zelda:SS a perfect score and said it's better than OoT. Even people who somehow played the game early, said it was the best Zelda ever made.

It lacked charm, it had repetitive music, the game was to easy, the art style sucked, the boss fights were disappointing, the items were useless, it was filled with moments that felt embarrassing, it had more plot holes then every zelda game combined, and it was not a dark and mature game like it advertised itself as. The most annoying aspect was that it felt rushed and incomplete

@xXzumiesXx2 i competely disagree. its music wasnt repetative, take for example boss themes, the only boss themes alike were morpheel and agorok. oot was totally different with the boss battles, almost all boss battles had the same music. the game wasnt easy either, it had really hard dungeons that i got lost in like the city in the sky, plus the heart pieces were very well hidden. the boss battles had were the best for me, not like the easy as hell bosses in oot, wind waker, and more.

Sorry but I never once got lost in twilight princess all the puzzles were straight forward. I think the bosses suck because they either copied Shadow of the colossus or they were just stupid like the stalord. I mean whoever though that link riding a top was a smart idea was on crack.

@xXzumiesXx2 i dont know if you know this but most zelda games do that. look at skyward swords theme, the song is basically a remixed zelda lullaby from ocarina of time. you know that when the boss is expossed and that theme comes has never been really done before, and how would you change that for every boss, your simply asking for too much. most bosses from that game were my favorite, especially blizzeta, i mean the games never done were they made the boss on your side until the fight.

@victinifan13 actually in link to the past there was a boss who was on your side and then changed into a monster so blizetta is really nothing new. I am not asking that every boss music should different I just dont want every piece of music to be the same thing as the field music. Faron woods, Midnas lament, the castle town, the lake, the dessert, the boss music, and even the training music was just the overworld theme played a bit differently. Every other piece of music was from the other games

@xXzumiesXx2 no just no, of corse the lake theme and the hylian field will be alot alike, because lake hylia is part of hylian field. all the boss battles are unique, with the fight and the music, none of them are alike at all. and just because a boss isnt hard doesnt mean it isnt fun, take for instance armagohma, he was easy but you get to squish him! i thought i was fun to squish a giant bug like you do a small one. and like i said most music in zelda games is just a remix of another song...

Twilight Princess was like a sequel to Majora's Mask, darker and not quite as fun as OOT. Skyward Sword felt like a sequel to Link to the Past, Ocarina of Time, Wind Waker, Phantom Hourglass and all of the other amazing Zelda titles: everything we love about the franchise is there with some great new additions and features, more ways to explore and all around a blast of an adventure game. This is what made Zelda a Legend (pun) in the first place, keep it up Nintendo.

@21Narutoking Kind of. The first SS dungeon is very straightforward. The second dungeon is a bit harder. The third dungeon is where things REALLY get creative. You'll notice the amazing design of the game early on, but once you hit dungeon three, the game becomes truly amazing.
Zelda SS is rather straightforward but it also has the most content and has the longest dungeons in a Zelda game with the best combat in a Zelda game yet. In short, it's better than OoT.

@21Narutoking lol you'll love the game. BUT AVOID ALL SPOILERS, lol. This is the best Zelda story yet in the series. The graphics are amazing with the art style. People say it's the exact same formula but let me tell you, it's not. 1-Combat has been completely set to another level, 2-Most of the items are new, and returning are used differently, 3-The only thing that stays true to the "3D Zelda formula" is getting "X" number of "Y" item as a means to move story. That's it lol.

Wind Waker brought so much into the franchise; I can't believe people actually dislike it for the visual style alone. If OoT allowed Link to Lock On and use his sword in a 3D space, then WW allowed Link to properly move himself in a 3D space during combat, bringing in the largest number of new sword moves in any Zelda game. It brought a level of character expression not seen before in the franchise in Link's hilarious facial expressions and actions, which SS builds on. It's also a solid game.

Most of my friends love the Zelda Series and I just can't stand the repeating "Zelda is gone, Ganon is behind it, go save" story. So I never got into it.
And then there was Twilight Princess. I LOVED the game to death. And now it is suddenly a dissapointment? No wonder I Can never be a Zelda fan xD

personally the only zelda games i could not get into were the ds titles in my personal opinion ss is the greatest zelda yet it creates such a deeper story to the games. just the ending alone gives room for many more games. The fact that this is an origin story but still gives you questions is genius. Im stoked for the new 3ds zelda already long live link

This game is a straight upgrade from Twilight Princess. Before this I, controversially, preferred Twilight Princess to Ocarina of Time. I felt that Twilight Princess was a more polished and story heavy than Ocarina of Time, with much better gameplay. Now Skyward Sword has come as a straight improvement from the previous games. It maintains the integrity of level, character and puzzle design we've all grown to love, but manages to introduce just enough aspects to make a new game. 4.5 is alright.

twilight princess was a very good game, but i can understand how you really didnt like it if you only played it on wii. you always have to keep in mind that twilight princess was made for the gamecube and just released with the wii as well. also there is no doubt this is the best game on the wii and possibly of all time.

Seeing most of these comments, I'll say it right here and now;
I hate Ocarina of Time. Everything feels stale and repetitive, small and compact and overall just boring. In fact, it doesn't even remotely make my top 3.
And Skyward Sword was... well, pretty damn good. The only thing keeping it from being my favorite was the lack of memorable music. And as much as people hate Wind Waker, it's still my favorite Zelda ever.

@Phenderz TP was okay, but it didn't live up to expectations. One of the most commonly mentioned disappointing features was that many of the dungeon items were only useful in the dungeons where they were found, and maybe one or two overworld heartpiece locations... for me, the overworld, and hyrule city were very bland and had little charm. I liked the game, but it wasn't amazing.

@Phenderz Out of all the Zelda games TP is my least favorite. Here are the problems I had with it.
1. The art style, realistic doesn't a Zelda game at all, I almost fell asleep looking at the grey and brown colors of the world.
2. The difficulty, the game is to easy, simple as that.
3. Hyrule, everyone praises TP for being a bigger Zelda game, while I appreciate Nintendo for trying to expand the world they made it to big, it's just a big empty space with nothing in it.

It always felt like a Gamecube port, probably because it was a gamecube port; WE were expecting awesome motion controls and use of the wii technology, instead we got button mashing and slight swishes of the wrist. TP wasn't the AMAZING game we were expecting.

EDGE magazine, the toughest reviewers out there...Famitsu, the best reviewing system out there....and IGN, the one's with the rarest to give 10s and has an unbiased Nintendo editor team.....all gave Zelda:SS a perfect score and said it's better than OoT. Even people who somehow played the game early, said it was the best Zelda ever made.
