First I really heard Mr. Lee's mastery was on the Jerry Lewis London Session /71 or 72?
'Drinking Wine 'single I slowed down the LP and lifted his licks on that tune no way I could could never play with his feeling and techo ability though. You're right he is a true artist, humble in his profession but giving his gift freely.
Albert Lee. Sublime talent, wonderful guitarist, great voice and superb pianist but the best thing I can say about Albert is that he is a truly humble, nice bloke. If there were more Alberts in the world we'd live in a much nicer place. Thanks Albert, you've certainly brightened up my life.
This guy is in the came class as Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck. One of the most revered musical talents among musicians. He was (at one time and maybe still) Clapton's favorite guitar player. Well known by the public for sure. But, underrated. Oh yeah, he is also a hell of a guy. The vocal sounds a little like an impression of Rodney. But, they palyed together for a while with Emmylou and in Rodney's back up band.
Excellent on keys...Beautiful voice...Marvelous Guitar Player...A very fine non-pretentious man who is a master musician and a really nice person all rolled into one being. Very Unusual but so refreshing to hear and see and experience. Albert, you are treasure~
Jeeze how I love my wife and God knows that I have spun out more times than I count. I am so lucky to have such an understanding and loving woman to share my life with. I've listened to this version all morning and have cried my eyes dry. How wonderful it is for one person to love another and accept them for who they are and not what they do. I LOVE YOU BABY!!
If all you have on me...is youth and or looks....,then you have nothing..on me at all, For in age ..., I have much wisdom.., and my beauty is within and you could never know it, understand it, or posses it!
Same as the text before me, Reminded me of my younger days with a willie and waylon 8 track in my old car, Headed up to see my girlfriend! Yes, ole Waylon did this one. Awesome version of this song, I loved it!
I Discovered this mans great talent way back when I picked up a copt of the LP "Heads,Hands and Feet...for no real reason at all! That was back in the mid 70's and played it about 150 times since then!!! But Albert Lee was the standout of the album,no question. Thanks for sharing this and glad to see he is still playing as good as ever and most likely still doin lots of session work also!
It's a tragedy that so much talent goes virtually unnoticed especially when you see the garbage that unjustifiably sees worldwide success on one trashy effort !
Albert is my hero. I have all his records going back to the 60's, and I have interviewed him for our local radio station - I present the country show. Every time I see him or play him on You Tube, I feel so humble. He is a remarkable musician, a genius.
And vocals. I've heard a lot of versions of this and he holds his own as a singer with all of them...he's almost up there with Rodney himself, who (in my opinion) nobody tops on this song. Excellent.

Stunning...I have never heard Albert sing or play keys.
This is like a confessional; he reminds me of Geraint Watkins here.
Thank you so much for posting it, it was perfect for my rainy afternoon. I got my guitar out and was on with him from the second verse :-)

Albert Lee is clearly moved by the song, as I have been since I first heard it on the old Emmy record.

Albert Lee is one of the most amazing guitarists in the history of the instrument. He is utterly and sadly underrated in America.

I think the Willie Nelson/ Emmy Lou Harris version is better especially the musician ship. Find a version without crowd noise tho
