No, I did not miss the message nor Jonathan Larson's talent. Actually, I had never heard of it until a friend from my past pointed it out. He told me to watch the movie several times because there was so much you will miss the first two or three times. He was right. Of course, I now, have the movie and soundtrack in my collection. The plays are always better - but having a movie made out of a play brings the theater to a much wider audience. Many people who wouldn't have seen it in the theater are now wanting to see it on stage. It's the same way with books. If someone really likes a movie that was made from a novel, they are much more likely to read the book.
