It was better than the original and more faithful to the novel. Jeff Bridges was a better Rooster Cogburn than the Duke and as for the Oscar? It was a sympathy vote (If Wayne ever deserved an Oscar, it was for The Searchers, not True Grit)! Many remakes are pointless but this isn't one of them.

I loved True Grit, I thought it was VERY well done.
But I can agree with you that Hollywood has been making way too many remakes, reboots, and re-imaginings. I mean, they're rebooting Spiderman! Don't they think it's a little too soon for that? I don't know. Hollywood's going down the tubes. There is some light, though. While Hollywood is failing miserably, the Independent Film Industry is on the rise.

Loved this movie, which is a relief. Especially after the last movie I was looking forward to, Inception, which I thought was awful. Love Nolan's films, but that movie sucked. Glad this movie got that taste out of my mouth.

I thought that true grit was actually great. One of the best movies of this year. I love it but to tell you the truth I don't agree with a lot of the reviews you make. @ColonialHappy Kick Ass was pretty much the child version of Kill Bill, Toy Story 3 was incredibly over rated, The Town was a typical bank robber mixed with romance action movie albeit it was ok, not great, never got a chance to see 127 Hours, and I don't use Facebook, so I really had no reason to watch a movie I didn't have any interest in in the first place. Inception was a totally new story written and directed by Christopher Nolan and he executed his imagination in the film flawlessly.
@bikeridereveryday Scott Pilgrim was complete shit, only hipsters liked it. Yes I saw it and no I didn't enjoy it at all. Rallis pretty much nailed what i thought of about True Grit. I haven't got to see Black Swan yet but I'm looking forward to it. How to Train your Dragon is not worthy of a best movie of the year, the leader character was "the awkward guy" and monotone throughout the entire movie, the humor is childish, the only good thing about it was the animation.

Loved this movie, which is a relief. Especially after the last movie I was looking forward to, Inception, which I thought was awful. Love Nolan's films, but that movie sucked. Glad this movie got that taste out of my mouth.

I thought that true grit was actually great. One of the best movies of this year. I love it but to tell you the truth I don't agree with a lot of the reviews you make. It was much better than tron and a lot better than a bunch of other movies. It was a nice movie to see. The girl was made to be like that. Not the actresses falt and it was just who she is. Btw if you hate remakes altogether than you hate 96% of all movies. Not trying to be an ass and all cuz I still love your videos. :-)

Totally agree with you on True Grit's pointlessness.
Yeah, it might be a great movie, but it's a bad sign of the Coen brothers now remaking old movies. Their best movies are those that are original (Big Lebowski, Blood Simple, Barton Fink, Fargo).

I completely disagree with you Rallis, most of the movies that were remade, reboots, or reimaginings. You gave crap to little fockers and the narnia movie are not in that 94 percent, bc they are sequals not any of the other 3, and i agree that is exactly how she was in the book. and most of the remakes or reboots that were made is were they were originally done in the 60's 70's or 80's, and look at our young people now, with graphics like transformers and stuff,

@ColonialHappy Kick Ass was pretty much the child version of Kill Bill, Toy Story 3 was incredibly over rated, The Town was a typical bank robber mixed with romance action movie albeit it was ok, not great, never got a chance to see 127 Hours, and I don't use Facebook, so I really had no reason to watch a movie I didn't have any interest in in the first place. Inception was a totally new story written and directed by Christopher Nolan and he executed his imagination in the film flawlessly.

@bikeridereveryday Scott Pilgrim was complete shit, only hipsters liked it. Yes I saw it and no I didn't enjoy it at all. Rallis pretty much nailed what i thought of about True Grit. I haven't got to see Black Swan yet but I'm looking forward to it. How to Train your Dragon is not worthy of a best movie of the year, the leader character was "the awkward guy" and monotone throughout the entire movie, the humor is childish, the only good thing about it was the animation.
