  • anyone know the lyrics to the intro?

  • @jizmacdacusha Hahaha

  • aeiou

  • This shits better than madden 12 on the iPhone haha

  • @supahdupahguy81 like people whine at the slightest touch in football, take a blow from a football player, then we'll talk, what gives you the right to say football sucks on a football video?!? Go losten to justin bieber you hipocryte ):P

  • i swear rob hubbard is one of the best video game console composers, his songs don't have 30 second loops like sonic the hedgehog does, it goes on forever with different combinations!

  • the intro just blew my mind

  • brings back memories, to think that this game would start an evolution not only in football video games but sports video games in general.

  • This brings back memories!! These games are way more fun than anything else out there these days!

  • set-50-sex hahahaahahahhaa

  • "I don't get why you think tackling in American football is about hitting people from their "blind side" and "clotheslining""

    --

I was obviously exaggerating, but sorry, no matter how you try to articulate it, "tackling" in gridiron amounts to not much more than clattering into ppl.

It really doesn't matter how long they spend working at it...they're may well be a "fine art" to crashing into someone at full speed...I'm sure WWE guys train for hours too, but they're still just pretend-fighting.

  • (cont)

"I doubt anybody whos ever played the game views it as a "memory test"."

    --

They're entitled to their opinion.....they're wrong tho..

LOL @ the notion of reciting a novel of running patterns & blocking routines being fun....& it's the absolute polar opposite of expressive by literal definition.....you are the one making things up.

  • "But, the fact that so much of the game is mental does lend credence to how technical it is."

    --

There is a clear difference betwen actually making your own decisions in sport & remembering a choreographed routine......LMAO at you using the term "mental" so ambiguously.....& jesus christ, using you brain is NOT in & of itself a technique......it's about the application.

  • @supahdupahguy81

"jesus christ, using your brain is NOT in & of itself a technique"

Yeah? Who said it was genius? I said the fact that the game is so mental-aka requires you to make split second decisions-there IS a lot of ad-lib "technique" especially at the skill positions, but you are too blindly in love with your European stone age sports to realize this. I mean...thats got to be what it really is. I mean you probably like curling as well.

  • @supahdupahguy81

"...reciting a novel of running patterns & blocking routines being fun...Its the absolute polar opposite of expressive by literal definition..."

There's a reason people play football. If you don't think they're having fun and being "expressive" as they do it, you are a moron...

    ...polar opposite of a genius

The "memory tests" argument is dumb because I don't know one football player who ever complained he hated learning the plays. Even that part of it is fun.

  • "All sports implement strategy, it's just that most stop short of giving players actual blueprints for every single thing that they do......sport is meant to be expressive & fun, not a memory test."

You just made this up. Because it is "expressive and fun" and I doubt anybody whos ever played the game views it as a "memory test". But, the fact that so much of the game is mental does lend credence to how technical it is.

    Just stop talking.

  • I don't get why you think tackling in American football is about hitting people from their "blind side" and "clotheslining". Sorry but you have proved beyond a shadow of a doubt you don't know what you are talking about. They have drills on proper tackling....like how to use leverage, hitting them at the center of weight, etc. Coaches spend hoards of time on this stuff. I mean...wtf...are you watching highlight reels or something?

  • god damn how lonng is the intro

  • This Game Was So EASY TO RECOVER AN ONSIDE KICK LOL if its done correctly one of the best games ever!!!

  • San Francisco scouting report says they have a "Big Money Quarterback". Wow, this is old !

  • Intro music is epic.

  • American Football is one of those games that actually works better as a videogame than it does as a sport...

  • @supahdupahguy81 Wrong.

  • @DBCOOPER888

    It's not wrong.

Let's face it, unless you're 400lbs, like being told what to do all the time & enjoy running around in circles & being flattened by fat guys, you probably wont enjoy American Football that much.....most other sports are more fun to play in real life than in a videogame, AF is the opposite...

  • @supahdupahguy81 are you retarded there are not any 400lb people in the nfl and i enjoy playing football and i am 5'7''. there are also people like Desean Jackson who are as big as me and play football. and also you do not run around in circles because that would make the game pointless.

  • @TheKnightmare36

I was exaggerating but the point remains that AF is a sport for fat ppl who don't like thinking for themselves....if you're not the QB then you'll either be colliding into ppl or running around in patterns, it aint fun...

  • @supahdupahguy81 have you every played AF in real life?

  • @TheKnightmare36

No. I'm from England so we don't play AF over here....but either way i don't need to play it to know that i wont have fun if i did tho....

  • @supahdupahguy81 Perhaps if you LEARNED the rules of football, you wouldn't be so quick to criticize it.

  • @prelynmax

    :/

I know the rules already, & i STILL think it's a shit sport IRL....Videogames are alright tho...

  • @supahdupahguy81 Still, if you want to talk about people walking around in circles in tiny shorts, it's soccer.

  • @prelynmax

    :/

I dunno if u follw the news but they dont wear "tiny shorts" & havent done for about 20 years but nevermind.....the fact that most of the world plays that sport & nobody plays yours says all we'll ever need to know about either game...

  • @supahdupahguy81

Respect American sports. We brought the world baseball and basketball as well as American football.

  • @WarHorseVarejao

I respect basketball, that sport is by far your most successful effort & is very popular across the world, fair enough.

LOL at the other two, tho.....

  • @supahdupahguy81 I could say the same about cricket with regards to you loling at baseball. ;)

And 1/6th of the world tunes in for the Super Bowl, supposedly, a not insubstantial amount of viewers. So it's apparently more popular than you think it is. (b'-')b Not on the level of the World Cup, I know, but still a very high viewership.

Out of curiosity, what was a Brit like you doing on a video that pertains to a video game about American football in the first place?

  • @donavannj

Say the same about cricket if you want, baseball is just a copy of rounders except rounders in england is only played by 10 yr old girls.

Are you suggesting that 1 billion ppl watch the superbowl? LOL, where did you get those figures from? From when they had to cancel NFL europe b'coz nobody was turning up to watch the games, i know exactly how popular gridiron is.

I can watch what i want, i left one comment here months ago but i keep getting replies from butthurt gridiron fans.

  • @supahdupahguy81

Well...you can laugh at football all you want. It certainly takes more skill to be good at football than to play soccer. Perhaps thats why soccer is so popular over there and American football isn't. Perhaps 1-0 scores rock Europe like New Years Eve necause your guys sports craving is not on the same level as in America.

1-0...wake me up when its over.

  • @WarHorseVarejao i dont understand half of what you just said, andwrong soccer is a harder, BETTER, more skilled sport to play than football

  • @yoshilicker

Soccer does NOT take more skill than American Football. More endurance? Quite possibly. More skill? NO.

And, if by "harder", you mean "harder to score"....who cares? Do you like watching games for 3 hours that end up in a 0-0 tie?

  • @WarHorseVarejao how does it take more skill exactly? if football is so awsome then why is soccer the 1# played sport in the world, while football is only in like the US, Canada, and maybe mexico

  • @supahdupahguy81

"From when they had to cancel NFL Europe b'coz nobody was turning up to watch the games, I know exactly how popular gridiron is"

About as popular as soccer is in America?

  • @WarHorseVarejao

"About as popular as soccer is in America?"

    --

    Even less than that.

  • @supahdupahguy81

Dude, soccer is about as interesting as NASCAR.

You sit there in your seat. Your eyes twitch left and then right. You wait for something interesting to happen (ie a goal/a wreck) and it doesn't.

Perhaps you Europeans are just too deeply rooted in your traditional sports to appreciate more modern sports like American Football. You are old school.

  • @WarHorseVarejao

LMAO @ american football being "modern"...

You've basically taken rugby, a game which actually comes from the middle ages, and somehow made it even more boring & shit than that!....

LOL at having to sit through marching bands, commercials, cheerleaders, endless stop-start plays....and at the end of all that you're lucky if you see the offensive team gain 10 yards...

The vast majority of human beings must be missing the point of gridiron or something coz we just dont get it.

  • I get it. You like soccer because of 0-0 scores and people running around aimlessly not accomplishing anything. But they sure do run hard. Running hard takes a tremendous amount of skill and talent.

Obvioulsy running hard requires more talent than breaking/making tackles, throwing/catching a football, being able to execute hundreds of different plays (which reminds me there is more strategy involved in American football than in soccer), etc.

You just can't let your baby go.

  • "You just can't let your baby go."

    --

..And herein lies the difference between America & the rest of the world.

We find running around in circles & randomly bumping into ppl fun....up until about age 6, then as our motor skills develop, we require a more technical, grown-up activity to play (soccer), running & crashing around (gridiron/rugby) just seems silly after that.

I suppose with you guys it's the other way round, & LOL at having to read a book before playing a sport, worst concept ever.

  • @supahdupahguy81

"We find running around in circles & randomly bumping into ppl fun....up until about age 6"

Thats pretty much exactly what I was saying about soccer...because thats all that happens. Zero scoring for 90 minutes.

"We require a more technical, grown-up activity"

Sorry but there is much more technical detail in American football.

You know...golf is a grown-up activity. I have to say that, ironically, it is as entertaining as soccer.

  • @WarHorseVarejao

"Sorry but there is much more technical detail in American football."

    --

You're going to have to explain to me where the technical application is in running around in pre-determined paths & crashing into dudes as hard as you possibly can coz quite frankly i don't see it.

...& the most ironic thing about your analogy is that both golf & soccer are miles more popular worldwide than gridiron, so clearly those sports don't seem to have that much trouble entertaining ppl at all..

  • @supahdupahguy81

    "...Explain the technical application..."

Learning plays, tackling, taking proper angles, passing/timing, clock management...

    "...running around in predetermined paths...."

Pick a sport, thats generally what the offense tries to do. Thats why you have defense.

  • @WarHorseVarejao

"Learning plays" is not a technique fuck outta here.....Tackling? you mean when they're randomly crashing into each other? that doesn't look like the height of technical aptitude to me....in fact none of those things are technical apart from the forward pass, which is a highly technical skill, true.

    /

    "Pick a sport"

    --

Well i don't know what sports you've played but gridiron is the only "major" sport in the world i know of where the phases of play are near 100% choreographed.

  • @supahdupahguy81

You think tackling does not require technique. This proves that you don't know what you are talking about. Learning plays and implementing and being precise with your routes and timing is being technical.

"Gridiron is the only "major" sport in the world I know of where the phases of play are near 100% choreographed"

You have a problem with strategy being implemented in sports? How "choreographed" is it for the defensive players who don't know what's coming?

  • @WarHorseVarejao

"You think tackling does not require technique."

    --

TACKLING does require technique, running at someone from their blindside & clothes-lining them does NOT. Let's not confuse proper, controlled tackling (like you see in rugby) with whatever the hell you call "tackling" in gridiron.

    /

All sports implement strategy, it's just that most stop short of giving players actual blueprints for every single thing that they do......sport is meant to be expressive & fun, not a memory test.

  • @supahdupahguy81

I get it now. You stupidly think that football is about hitting people from their blindside. You believe there is no real tackling in football despite the fact that players are trained extensively on how to do so. You talk about American football coming from rugby and then you say rugby requires proper tackling but American football does not?

Get outta here dude. You don't know what you are talking about. Its OK to admit it.

  • @supahdupahguy81 ru kidding me? what do u prefer to run around in tights like a bitch and then have ur mom wipe ur asshole when ur done

  • @bsommer5

"what do u prefer to run around in tights like a bitch"

    --

The irony is if i was running around in tights then i'd actually be playing American Football....

    Fail...

  • @supahdupahguy81 stfu brit its called football you bellend muppet twat

  • hutt hutt hutt hutt hutt hutt hutt....now THAT'S a theme song!

  • Introducing....

    ....Madden 2012 !!!

Play with yourself OR PLAY WITH A SECOND PLAYER!! AMAZING CAPABILITIES!

  • This music is sooooooooooo Genesis!!!!!!

  • lmfao the music is annoying in the begining

  • I WANNA SEE MADDEN FOR THE APPLE ii THE ORIGINAL

  • I used to hang on the intro too, the song rocked. This game owned everything else. Nothing was like it! It's funny how it's so old, it has the old EA logo, like from the "Adventure Construction Set" days...

  • Comment removed

  • LMAO! It was only 19 years ago, and the game looks like it was from the Stone Age. I remember owning a copy of this when I was like 5. It is truly incredible that technology has come as far as it has in 20 years.

  • @WhiteDudeWithAnAfro I agree, it is amazing how far technology has come. At the same time, you have to realize how revolutionary and high tech this game was at the time. Before this, all football games were were two-diimensional with the field going horizontally from left to right. The graphics, though primitive by today's standards, were amazing for the time, as not long before that players were represented by not more than stick figures, or fuzzy blobs, blips or actual X's and O's.

  • OMG IT LOOKS SO REALISTIC LOL

  • Hut, hut, hut, hut, hut, hut

  • ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!

  • old game if u capare this game to madden 10 its so funny

  • That song is fucking awesome.

  • 19 years later look where gaming has gone... wow!

  • @matrix1321 yeah. kind of went down the drain a bit didn't it?

  • nah it says fumble

  • this video is almost annoying to watch

  • does it say tonto at 1:26

  • Wow is this new gameplay for Madden '11? Bleh, still looks the same. lolol

  • I remaber i had this game a bitch couldn't fuck with me

  • I'm 28 and I killed this game as a kid back in '91.

  • so primative compared to wat we have today

  • SOOOOOOOOOOOOO OLD

  • Same theme for John Madden Football on SNES

  • song is annoying

  • LOL 6:06 The TD dance is hilarious!

  • this was the first madden game right????

  • the 49ers vs the Broncos, is it a Super Bowl rematch or what ? Those were the big teams at the time.

  • 1:29 in and...

  • i love how the average player is 15 feet tall

  • y the intro music so long?

  • that song sounds ALOT like the 1st road rash........

  • It was made by the same composer Rob Hubbard who did the Road Rash theme. Awesome composer.

  • you dont see touchdown dances like that

  • Its absolutely amazing that 18 years ago when you played the playoffs in this game there were in-game highlights of other games and post game highlights of the other games. Today with the systems we have EA no longer does this.

  • @NYJYIK Wow I do remember that I always wondered why they cut that out in the future games...

  • WOW! This is one of the best tunes that i've ever heard on a madden game.lol.

  • this looks like nice gameplay

  • one of the best tunes i've ever heard in my life

  • dhs shxxt is the longest intro ever

  • Yeah that does kich ass. I sounds kind of like a Rush tune.

  • i play madden 10 on ps3

  • thats rite........ same here

  • T T T T T T T T T T T tt tttt Touchdown touchdown

  • Did you really need that long of an intro???

  • @endlessmountain YES! THIS IS EEEEPIC!!

  • HUT HUT HUT

  • Comment removed

  • I think this was the only game in the series, where the crowd storms the field after you win the Superbowl. About a minute after the goalpost falls down.

  • does it in madden 93' also.

  • This game might be old... but all of you who don't remember this game means your to YOUNG... this was before your time.

The games back in the 80's Nintendo / Sega was by far better than any game system now.

no cheat guides. no memory cards, no hints you had to use your brain to figure things out.

    Great games were

Contra, Double Dragon, Metriod, Tecmo Bowl, Excite Bike, Rygar, Zelda, Mario, and many others

    goto w w w . nintendo8 . com click on all in white letters

  • now you're talkin. Don't forget battletoads

  • @insidetheredzone "no cheat guides. no memory cards, no hints you had to use your brain to figure things out."

"Contra, Double Dragon, Metriod, Tecmo Bowl, Excite Bike, Rygar, Zelda, Mario, and many others"

You have obviously never heard of the Contra Code, or Nintendo Power.

  • @AvionHarper stupid we dont use memory cards no more use your brain dick face

  • @dATfAKA81G Hey retard, you are obviously deficient when it comes to reading, otherwise you would have noticed that comment was not "my" quote, but me quoting someone else. Why don't you try reading into the context of a comment for once rather than pressing keys like a monkey on a typewriter.

  • I would take this game way over MADDEN 10

I don't know which game was better back then

JOHN MADDEN FOOTBALL for Sega Genesis OR

TECMO BOWL for Nintendo 8 - bit

  • tecmo super bowl

  • your buggin.

  • im sure you will find time to get over it

  • best graphics yet

  • This is the only Madden game that would show other games that went on the same day during the playoffs that I cane remember.

  • And you are my bitch.

  • Old school football was pretty sweet

  • The theme tune for this was awesome, legend!

  • i have spent ten minutes of my life f##k F##k

  • LMAO at the song. So dumb but catchy

  • omg flashback city lol

  • i used to play this, but i preffered the hockey game ;-) ... is it somehow possible to get the "soundtrack" of these two games????

  • Get a Genesis emulator (I use GENS) that has a sound capture option. In GENS, choose the tab "Sound", then "Start WAV dump" while you're playing and it'll capture the sound as a .wav file until you choose "Sound" and "Stop WAV dump".

  • I had this game back in 91... The granddaddy of Football games. The one that taught me what a shotgun formation was. Praise the King of sports games.

  • that's true that madden has dominated videogame football for almost 20 years now, but you gotta give big ups to what started it all, Techmo bowl and it's even better sequel, Tecmo superbowl. Football games would never be the same.

  • what a sick beat!!!!

  • I have madden '93 =] its kinda good but madden 09 way better

  • geez whats wrong with you

  • seriously? comparing 93 and 09. thats like comparing the rolling stines and pluto. nothing in common wow

  • no u dont u play '93 on the '09 disc... cuz nobody plays first generation nintendo today!!!

  • 1st Down!

  • cya, now im gunna go shoot my self in the head in my backyard.

  • yo 89 to 98 look the same. After it gets better

  • best graphics evar! woot!

  • sick intro music haha

  • they need this intro music back

  • remember the awsome snow covered field?? or the mud in the rain??

  • did I seriously get a thumbs down? lame! dissed on a game I loved

  • memories, and the awesome intro music!!

  • this music sounds like a techno jam by a bunch of dogs "bum bum, hut hut, bum bum hut hut"

  • jeebeenoo

  • Spent many hours playing this game.... Didn't know it then that it was the first!

  • no, actually, the first was madden '89.

  • My bad, thanks for the clarification.

  • Awesome.

  • The intro music gets me pumped every time. YEAH!
