I would prefer my b7 rs4 quattro (sprint blue pearl). The ride is so much better, i have test drived one of these and all i can say is sh*t. Very jerky, hardly any headroom, trunk (boot) space is tiny, the only thing on this car that is probably the best is the engine. It's tuned and has a wonderful high pitched (rs4 sounding) note to it.
I really love this car, it's everything that I want in a car! But I was wondering, would this be a good first car? Because I turn 17 next year and I'm just worried about how much it would be to insure etc.
@R774r I love this car also, it would be a great first car, however being an Audi it would be very expensive. I am nearly 19 and insurance in my own name for this car is nearly £3500 so for a 17 year old it would be considerbally more, the insurance in this country is stupid is stops us younger drivers to drive cars, it should be like america where it is on the car not on the person.
@robertdevald Honestly was in autocar back in January. Set to include 180bhp and Dsg, so should be pritty quick for this type of car. Same engine as polo gti.
I'm not a fan of that contrasting pillar colour either; I'd get it in one solid colour. Audi really should address that handbrake design issue; perhaps make the lip of that compartment lid a little less protruding. Other than that I think it's a good car; but it also depends on the price. Here in Australia its not out yet, but I doubt it'll do well if its priced more than $30k. I's rather get an A3 for a couple of grand extra.
I still don't understand why people would choose this from a Mini Cooper S. I mean Mini is probably better to drive and it has the history. I guess it's new so It will sell well. Especially people who would want to get into a luxury brand. I've heard next gen Mini comes out in 2012.

@jamesysam002 most of the room will be bias to the front though with the rear seats i do believe that its designed to force you more into the centre rather than so far to the sides. how tall is your mate? and other than those minor flaws still interested in buying?
@ferguswong77 But in that category, Citroen DS, Fiat 500, Mini even, your head doesn't touch the roof?
I happen to be that 'Fat guy' so why don't you think about how you come across before you decide to shun whoever is there, delivering their own opinions.
what's stupid about his comment? the fact that there is no headroom at the back? or the fact that armrest impedes the handbrake operation? He seem to have substantiated all his gripes with the car and quite. It's probably one of the very few yet legitimate complaints about the car and you call it stupid.

seems like a decent car but i still think the mini is better just because of its heritage, the only competition i think the mini can really worry about now is the citroen ds.

@dunti21 I thought it was widely known that they are fun-to-drive, exceptionally nimble cars. I guess not everyone knows.

@minibus1351 that doesn't mean the Audi can't be...

@dunti21 yeah you're right. A1 can be sensational; however, do you really think it will outsell the Mini?
minibus1351 1 year ago
@minibus1351 not very quickly seeing as though it's brand new and mini has been around for like 10 years. u can't catch up 10 years of sales

The handbrake / hand-rest problem is present in Audi A3 too.

@ 2:45 lucky that you have a popped collar that will protect you if you get hit in the back then.

@hejhoppification You might find that more than 1 person commented on it, so the 'Popped Collar' guy, aka, Me, isn't the only person who spotted it.

@Chipslice What 'heritage'. The modern Mini owes nothing to the original. It's a BMW with a fancy badge.
