Hoa see teochew nang, and the our most famous line... "ga gee nang"!! There's actually a lot of people that speak it in SF. I could speak it well when I was younger but as I grew older I only use Cantonese and English. I can understand but can't really speak it anymore. I wish there is somewhere Ithat teach our language!
@choijai18 I didn't realize there were Chinese in SF that spoke teochew. My mum is teochew (by way of Singapore) and raised me without the dialect, growing up just outside of SF. Now I live in SF and whenever she comes to visit she practices her Cantonese buying produce in Chinatown. You must tell me where you here / see teochew so I can tell my mum, she would be so excited. The only time she practices is videochatting with family or when we visit SG.
@iloveyou131214 wtf?!?!!? thats exactly my parents! they were born in china but they came to cambodia and were raised there and they were in refugee camp and but they speak cambodian to each other ALL the time! so i kinda caught up with it and understand it. now they are in pennsylvania! where i was raised
Yea alot of the chinese people that were in cambodia were Chiu Chow...it's crazy! I'm located in Long Beach, Ca...Cambodia Town basically...lol! but alot of my friends are chinese-cambodian. I wish i could speak Chiu Chow tho =( i use to when i was little but then idk i literally know only 30-40 words! and it's the little words that i speak to my baby cousin ahha...like "jah-lock" (sit down) etc! haha
&& oh yea! I lived in vietnam for my whole life & i learned this language from my parents....
Dam! this is the best day of my life! because I finally... found out what my real language is called... :)
one question... where does techew people lived in china? like which place... or cities... I know that lot's of Techew people lived in Vinh chau, Soc Tang, Ca lai Hoa, Ap Xung thum, in vietnam ...
I also just to speak Cambodian too! but i forgot it all when i came to canada! ):
I could if be able to speak about 4 languages! if i didn't forget Cambodian! ): but oh well.. at least i'm able to speak 3 language! XD better then nothing! & now I'm learning how to speak French.. since it's also Viet's Second language.... :)
hello fellow teochew! if i'm not mistaken they come from Chaozhou Province, you can wiki teochew and find out..chaozhou is how you say teochew in Mandarin :D
omg! i've been searching for this! Teochew for a really long time! because I can speak this language & understand it.. but i have no idea what's it is called.. until my dad told me that its called Teochew!
the only differences is that I speak it differently.. the only thing that i could understand from this video is "legs" & "mouth" & the rest are a bit different..
& its really hard to find someone who speaks the same language as you! when your in canada & doesn't even know what its called
@NatnVic LOL! Doesn't "Ku Chio" mean the guys' private part?! hahahaha! She says "Mak, De Oiy" which means translated exactly "Eyes Are Where?" but if you say it correctly translated, it's where are your eyes? And ''De Oiy'' is like ''De Gkaw'' as in where. Do you kind of know why she says that after every word now? . . . hope i helped :)
@taekwondo16 What do you mean area/space? And do you know how to say expensive? Its like guiy. Well if you say that without the g, thats what it sounds like. Oiy. Haha!
@animeazngirl134 lol i know! hahahaha!!! but a lot of teo chew people are chinese-cambodian, which are my parents! when i hear people speaking it at random places im like " MOM! MOM! THEY SPEAK OUR LANGUAGE!" and shes like "calm down! we aren't the only ones in the world!!!!" ahhahaha
@iheartfrappuccinos Me too! I've grown up in parts of Cali where there aren't very many Asians, let alone Chinese people, so when I hear someone speak Teo Chew I get just as excited as you...haha. I think I first ran into someone that spoke it when I was visiting Los Angeles' ChinaTown :)
haha sooo trueee lol im teochew and my parents are liek if i dont get good grades then i wont have any friends and if im not a doctor or an engineer then im gunna be a garbage man hahahaha
this is same with teochew, but probably just different dialect.i'm also teochew nang.i come from Khuntien/Pontianak there are a lot teochew nang and khek nang in my province.Bravoo...teochew nang.
the teo chew area in China comprises Shantou, Chenghai, Chaoyang, Chaozhou, Jieyang, Puning, Huilai, Raoping.
i'm native shantou ppl and i know all dialects of the cities mentioned above. it sounds to me dat this is Shanwei, Haifeng or Lufeng dialect rather than teo chew~
To reassure some of you who think that teochew dialect is gonna die soon....No !! I'm Teochew and I live in France (currently in Nice) and there is a precise area in Paris, the 13th where Teochew people live and speak the Teochew language all the time, even the sales clerks.
Anyway if some of you are interested in learning this dialect, you can still go to the Teochew province in Canton. ^^
Ha ha! Funny! I dont think there are many TeoChew people out there. The young people of Teochew origin dont speak Teochew anymore. This dialect is going to extinct one day. I hope it wont happen though. I am half Teochew who know just 5% of the dialect but I wish to learn more.
i'm only okay in it, probably my vocabulary as big as a kid... but i understood all the things she said on this video.. i'm tryin my best to keep it alive, i dont speak it much anymore...
