Elvis vs eddie is good and fine but I think the Kinks version of this song adds somethin really awesome boogie-style to it, their guitar riff really rocks it
I love this song, i want to play it, but when you look for guitar chords all you get is lyrics no CHORDS. Does anyone know where you can get the guitar chords and lyrics on the same page?
,All respect to Eddie Cochran, but Elvis' vocal IS better. In fact, it's brilliant. Elvis just has an amazing voice. Hard to dispute. Elvis was the first rockabilly singer, and his version is not as 'bluesy' as Eddy's later version, if you mean Chicago blues, but it sure doesn't sound like Hank Snow. Having said that, Eddie Cochran is really fine. I'm not going to deny that.
I like Elvis as much as the next guy but to say his version is better than Eddie's is crazy. Elvis' version was a country song and had none of the earthy blues quality of Eddie's recording. Yeah, I know it's best known as a country song anyway but this version is light years ahead of Elvis' and more in keeping with the song's origins. it's BLUES!
When you see information/postings of people covering this Kokomo Arnold song, they never mention Eddie. Eddie took it over and made it his own. Impressed all the future British classic rockers with it in 1960. This version smokes, as does another version of it on my "Somethin Else" CD, EMI 2004.
Elvis is the King, the best, but this is one of the few songs tha are better than Elvis' versions.

there's another take of this one with much longer solo guitar part. Eddie was a genius on guitar.

This has to be definitive version, both of Eddie's various takes and anyone else's. Light years ahead of Elvis.

@drieg59 How can you compare to genres of music? People like you think they're smart, but you're an idiot. Go compare apples to oranges.
