  • is this real?

  • David should have stayed at top because hes to ill to climb down the cliff. He climbed down because of peer pressure, what if he doesnt climb down? he will be called a faggot by his peers cause he stayed out top like a princess. jk lol. RIP

  • The first i thougt when i saw this video, why havent a single one of them thought about that urine could save their lives, until they could get to the water? It is difficult for many people to get themselves to drink urine and even urine from another person, but in extreme situations like this, you need to think of extreme ways to survive. The advices Bear Grylls has talked about are definitely good and can save your life.

  • @globe255

In John Lofty Wisemans 'Sas survival handbook' it says NEVER drink urine or seawater (but you can dilute seawater with potable water when you badly need salt). I don't know about the physiological explanation for this.

  • @peterponet Its not that you need to drink a bunch of it, just as much that it can keep you alive long enough to get potable water. I guess urine isnt that salty as seawater.

  • @KoolKluxKlan666 lol fucking dumbasses.... who the fuck climbs a cliff in the middle of the day lol kid got it for his stupidity.....-_-

  • @gvsfgdf Do u think they could successfully climb down at night? Doubt it. Who knows how long it would have taken them to find a way down. They might have, might not have. The stupid ass old men shouldnt have led them into that situation. The adults are to blame, not the kids.

  • what would u just fucking sit there and die?

  • @NoNeedToPot no retard I would have waited till dusk and then climbed down. Unlike ur fucking dumbass who would have done the same as those fucking kids and died.

  • ...

  • walking at night comes with a lots of risks.besides those kids dint have any experience...i think those kids made a good decision by saving the life of the rest...if they haven't continued walking, who the hell will find those remaining people n save their lives...

  • R.I.P David Philiphs

  • bears advice is good.. i feel sad that david passed away .. but mybe they shouldnt have continued walking in that hot heattt.. mybe walking at night migth have helped...

  • bears advice, to stay out of the sun by day, and move in the evening would have helped thos poor group, the oldies up top survived without any water by not pressing on, that would have been the most usefull information out of the lot, and bear has a lot of knowledge to share with us, he just makes it even more entertaining than it would otherwise be, i lvoe bear, and ray mears, 2 totaly diff things to watch, and learn a LOT from both of them, why does one have to be better than the other?

  • @V8VRUte

I think the boys made the rigth decision. to be fair, if they HADN'T climbed down the cliff, they wouldn't have come by the rafters. Not sure if the older men would have made it down.

  • wtf bear dont send this boys and old man too the desert baby u know!! Bear is an sas Soldier whas also in the french Legion .

you know when u dont cant dont doo this.bad when you a profesional surviver and Soldier doo it and have Fun.

  • poor dave =(

  • But the survival situtations NOT only about suffering! If you know what you do its a great adventure!

  • Comment removed

  • they shouldn't have gone past the trail...

  • But the main thing is most of them survived the adventure!

  • And another mistake! Whan you are dehydrated not allowed drink fast! Becuse that make you vomiting. Sorry for my very bad english.

  • What a ridiculous, pointless video!

Bear grylls is not right in the head any way!

That is besides the point! Someone shed some light on this utterly stupid video, I'm sad the kid died, but what the fu•k is the point of this vid?

  • So how the fuck do the old ass faggots live but the kid dies? Doesnt make any sense...I mean 70 years old and no water = life but Dave dies with water and doctors..... mk Wtf?!?!?!?

  • i wished they drank their own pee and squeezed the juices out of their own poo and drank it ;(

  • now this is what i find funny this does not prove that bear grylls survivel skills help they guy who said that they dont or the guys that say that they dont are dumbases wow i mean u guys r so stupid its funny that u did'nt cut urself with a bannana and all the bear grylls supporters out there peace

  • what is your critisism of bear grylls advices based on ?

There is no antagonism between the 2 videos at hand .

  • urine can save life but it will not if you are already severely dehydrated

  • Wow dude, that sucks

  • i found it kinda funny that the rafters happened to be doctors and paramedics. Just that part though. The whole story is sad. It sucks how Dave got a stroke so close to the water. Thats just bad timing :(

  • thats so sad...

  • thanks for killing a kid and showing me not to go into the desert........

  • it's cool the kid got killed

he deserved it, cause he was a dick

whoever doesn't agree with me, should go fuck himself

  • respect bear grills

  • Urine really can save they life.

  • that just blow my mind cuz those people where not experienced , dont have a brain, and never thought that they can drink their own pee. even the fucking camera guy did better. he use one hand on the camera n the other to hold on to the rocks

  • this was really sad. they lost some1 very close 2 them.i h8 when that happens

  • those were some pretty unprepared scout leaders

  • People talk shit about Bear. Truth is he would outlast about 98 % of humanity. Bear is the man. Regardless of how he does his show. Hell he could do it all in powerpoint. But to get out there and show the technic is more informative.

If I went into my backyard a discussed and taught survival skills. Would it be any less than a demonstration in the wild? Nope. Its what is being taught. Not where its being taught.

When I was in the army we did not shoot live ammo at eachother for training.

  • ray mears would own the world

  • just after he sux my dick

  • nice shout there, keep them up.

  • shut the fuck up, you lifeless son of a whore, or you'll join the little loser.

go ask your mum if she wants to suck your tiny dick, asshole

  • ohhh still pretty bad shout. i got kinda bored at shut.

oh well better luck next time douche

  • FINALLY! someone who understands, i don't get why people would give a damn if he does things real or not in his show, the whole point of the show is to inform people how to survive and teach valuable techniques in the wild, not to show whether or not Bear Grylls is a fraud, i hope the bastards who only concentrate on the fake-ness of the show will find themselves lost in the wild one day and try to remember the Bear Grylls show and forget because those bastards were too busy being ignorant.

  • Your welcome, Thank you, and a thumbs up. Keep it real.

  • @DobermansRock well said! :D

  • @DobermansRock it would be more effective training if yall did, wear more armor, and such bear is crap, i cant liers

  • @mikedrazen Bear has been there and done it. To each his own.

  • Heat is a killer. Bear wasn't kidding about how fast it kills people.

The old troop leaders had no control over the kids.

  • Thanks for posting. I agree with you. Theese advices can really save you if you can use them in right time.

  • i have a question when bear climbs down a 200ft cliff does the camera man get down the same way or with safty ropes??

  • the cameraman hangs on savety ropes

  • in truth the camera man is spiderman! he travels down by his feet!

  • You're right, but nighttime means MUCH more deadly animals. Had they gone at night to find water, they wouldn't have noticed night crawlers or alligators by the rivers to get them. Alligators are more abundant during nightfall. You see, if they followed bears advice, Dave could have taken his shirt off, peed on it, and wrapped it around his head. This would've pretended heat stroke and he would last much longer than he actually did.

  • damn i get thirsty by seeing that :P

  • This has got nothing to do with Bear Grylls' advice. The leaders of this expedition new it was way too hot to continue on. They made bad choices and a boy lost his life because of those bad choices.

  • I don't think his advice would have made much of a difference. When they found the scorpion they weren't hungry and didn't risk it stinging them so get got rid of it. As for the kid that died if he would have remained with the older men he would have survived because we wouldn't have exhausted himself in the heat. Also if they wouldn't have gone for it they may have not gotten lucky and found help in time for the other guys who seemed tired or injured. Its about using your head.

  • It's not hard at all to kill a scorpion that small, especially by three people. You can simply take an average-sized stick and flick it away a couple of times. While it's off-guard, you just simply pierce the stick down onto the middle of the scorpian's body. Then, with a knife, slice the tail off. Or, with a boot, step on the tail and try to push the body away to rip the tail off, just like Bear Grylls. It's an easy method, actually...I've done it before.

  • Bear Grylls owns!

  • Those kids should have listend to their guides, stay in the shade and learn to control their thirst till the sun was low. Then follow the path around the cliff to the water then continue as normal.

Only they over-reacted to running out of water and one pushed himself so hard that even the young and physically fit teenager died, while in the same climate, three pensioners strolled out like naturals.

Lessons: heat stroke will kill you before dehydration. NEVER split up. Rely on local knowledge.

  • Such a thought might rob him of his hope and motivation to survive. And here comes the propaganda of the jungle law - If he's not motivated enough no one can help 'im - shit!

Two guys go to find water with a backpack of empty bottles, a knife and some matches; the rest of the team stay with the first old man. This would be my choice of strategy. The fittest move on, the others stay together in the shade and yep, try to find water from plants or distill it from piss.

  • I don't see the point in comparing the guys experience with Bear Grylls' advices at all!

What i see though is where neoliberal brainwash and constant competition can lead. What a bunch of jerks could say - Fuck the old men, we must go on... All of them needed water of course. But in a similar situation motivation and hope are also very important. So leaving the first old men to think he's abandoned is fuckin cruel!

  • Great portrayal of human survival ...

  • So, three boys who carried on scored a 66% survival rate whereas the two adults who stayed put had 100%.

Stroud would've went for the safest thing to do, which was to stay put in the shade and look for water in plants.

Climbing down that cliff probably did Dave in.... and I'd doubt that he'd have much of his own urine to drink after sweating it out.

  • Well you need a larger sample group (like 100 people of group A in shade, 100 of B go hiking) but your theory is sound. Physically, these boys were better than the old men but lacked the vital experience of the old timers who knew how to control their thirst.

Notice Dave didn't die from dehydration but heat exhaustion that was exacerbated by dehydration. In a way, his thirst indirectly killed him as he pushed his body too far to quench his thirst, he ignored the heat.

  • u kidding if the kids didnt go down for water they all would of died

u think u can get enough water for 8 people to last in plants till some 1 comes for help,

    get real.

fuck all those haters, bear shows u what to do. INCASE u do get in a bad situation, like hes going to risk his life every week for our entertainment!

  • Bear Grylls might know what will happen sometimes, he shows you how to survive some of the toughest environments on EARTH with only a few basic survival tools ( a knife, a canteen, and a flint). He really puts himself in the position of and UNPREPARED TOURIST, who might only have basic things everyone should take. Also, Bear Grylls actually tries to find people. He shows you how to escape from these places and find salvation, because sometimes, help will not come. Les Stroud just sits in1 place.

  • very true i couldnt put it in any other way

  • That recreation was tragic, yet still a great demonstration of survival. (sort of) However using this to compare to bear grylls is pointless. He gives SOME good advise, but what sucks is that he's not REALLY surviving for that time during the filming of the shows. It's all organised. Survivorman, although less "entertaining". is atleast doing it for real.

  • lol 00:10

  • really bad music choice for the story.

  • Wow the end music was so inapropiate..

  • Also, they could've also drank their own urine. That deffinately would've saved them, and they also could've pissed in their hats.

  • well don't drink your own urine because that is toxic but they could sterilise their urine and then drink it :P

  • Urine will save your live..

    Toxins wont harm you

  • Urine is sterile unless you have an infection. It can be consumed, and also used to clean wounds. But it does have eurea which if too much is consumed can be hazardous. So the first pee is ok. But nothing after that.

  • Yes. I don't they watch Man vs. Wild. I deffinately think Bear's advices would've ended their adventure differently. But just like Bear Grylls, they also found help at the end, and they also had a camera man with them. I've used some of Bear's advices myself. Bear's and Les Stroud's too. So those shows are deffinately helpful.

  • this isnt a documentary video.... its a remake of what did happen.

  • Aha! So just like Bear Grylls, those boys also weren't really in any danger!

  • lol

  • stfu

  • ITS ADVICE******

  • it looks so fake thou

  • wtf is up with the ending music..?

  • Hindsight is always 20/20

Question is. What did the others do? Had everyone have stayed behind...would help have came when it did?

Moving during the cooler parts of the day is spot on, though! Except for the cliff descent...of course.

  • Mike's decision to leave was at the right time, but they did not have the survival skills to save David. If they'd have covered him or performed CPR, he may have lasted long enough for the water. The few seconds they spent drinking the water may have made a difference as well; unfortunately there's no way to tell in a situation like that as people's bodies are different, his stress levels may have been higher, and he may have been more susceptible to heat stroke.

  • I'll tell you guys what. Bear's survival techniques are far more beyond compared to these teenagers. Bear know's how to find water and if that is limited, drinking your own urine isn't the best idea since your kidney's get rid of all harmful bacteria and toxins in the body through urination. However, drinking your own urine could save your life and buy you some extra "living time". But kb824fan, awesome story and good thinking! Well done.

  • Yes surie ricky bobby

  • Wow, powerful story. It is amazing what your body and mind can accomplish when your desperate to survive. Tragic that Dave succumbed to the heat but also incredible the other 2 boy's made it. Good post

  • Plan was to be around 4 days to get to river, so for being in the desert for 4 days u need around 50 pounds of water, and if you carry a camp tent it would weight around 3 pounds(expensiveones) plus 5 pounds of other stuff (conservative) thats around 60 pounds, I dont know a 15 year old that has that amount of strongness to carry 60 pounds during 10 hour hike for 4 days. The decision of the parents to let them go was stupid. They dont seem to be in shape to that.

  • there is no doubt in my mind that bear is an amazing man. he really shows that u have to do to live in places like that. true life action hero

  • well actually from watching this bear would have either climbed or stayed back with the 2 older guides. the question remains that if the boy stayed back with the guides in the shade maybe he would have avoided heat stroke and survived.

obviously moving on here was the wrong decision.

  • yes bear does all that stuff but the difference between him and survivorman is that bear puts himself purposly in idiotic situations to show you how to get out while survivorman just well lives

  • One of the boys ends up dying, right after making it down unharmed. This is a true story by the way. It is an episode of "I Shouldn't Be Alive!"

  • Great post. Finally some credit for the man.

  • If you watch the section for example when bear gets wet in the snow, he strips down and starts doing exercise to warm up. These actions will use up excess energy(which is vital for keeping the body warm) thus he will become even colder once his heart rate slows down again. That is an ignorant action!

  • yea but when he gets warmer he puts on clothes so it conserves his warmth

  • Or he could just lay down all wet and go to sleep and die...

  • he had a fire near him, so he didnt do that without thinking

  • fantastic video's m8, bear grylls is 100% the man, people who say he is a fake...are talking complete sh!t, bear grylls is a amazing man....and is just trying to help give advice as best he knows,

  • I love Bear Grylls, he's the man. These kids remind me of the Great Falls. We climb up the cliffs even though they're not as high as this one but still scary to me. I can't believe one of the kid died in this show. Next time, if people want to adventure elsewhere make sure that we study the geography of it and take Bear's advises

  • How can you say Bear Grylls is a fake. He drinks his own wee, drinks elephant poo juice...

  • Exactly, he drinks his own urine straight from his bladder. What he should do is to filter it properly by means of oxidation, or whatever it's called in English, thus purifying it. The toxins in urine will enter your bloodstream and put a massive amount of strain on the already strained heart. Bear's advice could get someone killed.

  • That cliff looks too scary...

  • bear grylls is still a fake but you know what i dont think those kids ever saw him and his show those kids had no choice to go down the cliff because if they went another way they wouldnt have made it but bear is healthy and doesnt need to do it and its just pointless if they really needed water they have full backpacks and im sure they could have made a solar still and got water in less time then going to the river but its good they made it out they did what they had to and thats great kudos

  • by the way have you got anymore these kinda vids cuz i love them all!

  • yeah, watch them at this guys' account.

    youtube dot com/profile?user=USBlues32

  • This is wat i've been talking about, there're tons of people saying he's a phony or les is better or any shit but listen to his last bit that he actually says 'this is what i'd do to save life IN THOSE SITUATION'!!!

  • hey great video. perfect example to show how bear's man vs. wild is an informative, educational show. i see u also realize that the "dangerous" segments of the show does not affect if one will truly survive in the wild. i seriously don't understand why some people would think that this show will get someone killed. if someone told u to jump off a cliff would u do it? only a moron would say yes. superb! 5 stars!
