  • Ah can't use all inputs at the same time? That's a bummer, and I think it would be perfect if the Hi-Z's wer stereo, still great product, but I think could be improved.

  • Apogee Duet. Made in the USA! Well done guys. This is one of the main reasons I bought the Duet 2. Keep it in the USA. You'll make plenty of money. The Duet is amazing. Used their customer support yesterday. Stellar. Don't change anything. Thanks Betty Bennet, Bruce Jackson, and the entire team. Keep up the good work.

  • AM Passing this on to a young nephew who wishes to pursue music career...in Toronto

  • just asking, can all the jacks be used at the same time? or only two at once?

  • just a noob question, with apogee DUET, up to how many mic can i use in recording an acoustic drum kit and how?can i combine all the six input? i know some people record drums on a single/dual mic but im not satisfied with the sound quality..anybody please help me>>

  • @ip0ts If you have a 6 channel mixer you can sum/ group the tracks together

  • I have a problem with my Apogee duet. I can't record a mic or my 4str bass in a proper signal level as the signal gets distortion (mic on 14level max but it to low for mix and same with bass, can't move knob onto even half, especially E string getting distored).... what's wrong?

  • @adriank9 The best thing to do is contact Apogee tech support. 310-584-9394

or email them from our website

  • @apogeedigital Thank you... Of course I use instrument input. the bass is Sadowsky 4 Tokyo Active bass, volume is on full and the active knob as well. Even when I take a bit active knob off and volume the signal is to low for mix so when I volume up on Maestro distortion comes back, especially E string on the strong fingers attact. The distorion is on Maestro, even before I start the Logic up.

    Thanks

    Adrian

  • i just got my duet today and recorded an input form two mics but I only get output through one ear for each mic, its set on stereo i think and ive tried everything but it wont play as one track. help?

  • @laloo2cool It would be best to contact the Apogee support department (310)584-9394 or you can e-mail them from the website.

  • @laloo2cool I"m having the same problem. Did you ever figure it out?

  • @laloo2cool I"m having the same problem. Did you ever figure it out? I read on a message board that you're only supposed to record in mono, which does play back on both ears but i haven't had to do that with other mixers.

  • just wondering when you are recording/ jamming. Can you use both XLR inputs and both 1/4inch jack inputs at the same time? eg: would I be able to recording using 2 microphones, a guitar and say a bass guitar all at the same time going through the Duet.

  • Is it possible for me to run a Presonus Eureka Pro Microphone preamp into the Apogee Duet?

  • yes

  • All sorted. thans for your help

  • I just got my Apogee Duet yesterday am. I hope I made the write choice ....

I am having truble getting an out put through logic pro ? I set up the input / output in logic but nothing comes back through my monitors or my headphone. Please HELP !!

  • We have an excellent tech support department who can help you configure your new set up, give them a call 310-584-9394

I'm sure they can help you.

  • are the level lights moving when you play?

make sure you set up the controls in maestro correctly and that moniter/input buttons are activated on the logic track

then check to make sure the recording traack is set to record the right input ( 1/2)

then check - instrument volume, computer volume moniter volume and the mute function.

(sorry if you know this but idk how expirienced you are)

  • Apogee are like the Apple of the soundcard world. High quality products that are easy to use, and look stunning. Bravo Apogee.

  • A disperate message from Italy: is there anyone who know if Apogee Electronics will produce a usb version of Duet ? :-(...I've just buy my new macbook, and it gets no firewire ! :-(...Help me ! :-(...

  • A lot of Laptops have smaller Firewire ports,(it seems like a Digital Camera mini USB Port). Search on the Macbook sides and search for a Small port, named 1394

  • Just buy an 800 to 400 cable or adapter

  • sorry, the macbook doesn't have any firewire ports, only the macbook pro does. higher end pre amps use firewire only because it's a lot faster with more bandwidth. usb 2.0 simply cannot transfer data fast enough for high quality recording.

  • The original macbooks do have firewire, like the white and black macbooks. Only the new macbooks don't have firewire.

  • I wanted the duet because it was firewire but isn't firewire 400

slower than USB 2.0 and for 500 dollars it only has two inputs.

i like the product but a bit pricey so please reply.

  • Yes, on paper the spec of FW 400 is slower then USB 2.0 However, it makes no difference as far as audio transfer goes.

Is the Duet pricey? Not when you consider that you are getting 2 channels of high quality conversion, a high quality headphone amp, and two high quality mic pre amps, the mic pre's alone are worth $500.

  • Hi Guys! I'm really happy with Duet, but I would to know some other aspects of its using. I want to know how many possible connections can I use within the monitors and the Duet unit. I used the XLR cable connected to my monitors with the 1/4 jack stereo terminal to the Duet unit. In that connection I was experienced a noise, then I changed the cables to 1/4 jack mono in both terminal and the noise was gone. I'm using Focusrite 428 Preamp with the Duet unit. Is it right? Thank you so much.

  • Also I want to ask you guys, why the inputs XLR Line +4dBu and the inputs XLR Line -10dBv are not working in both channels of the Duet unit?

  • Which of the inputs of Duet is more professional? I'm using XLR mic for recording my professional musics. This is not a complaint, but I heard that the input XLR Line +4dBu has the most professional sound from Duet unit. Please could explain me and clarify the difference among the inputs from Duet? I'll appreciate it. Than you again and take care.

  • The mic-pres are the most important things in an audio interface. I prefer paying 500$ for a 2-High-Quality mic-pre interface rather than spending 500$ in a Dirty-China-Audio-Technologies-With-Very-Shitty-Components 16-channel interface.

  • can i use turntables with duet?

  • It depends on what you are looking to do. If you want to record the output of your turntable using the Duet, then yes you can do that. Please see our video Duet:Record & Tape transfer for a complete overview of this process.

  • If you are talking about Digital Vynil systems, nope... For Digital Vynil systems you need a soundcard with lots of inputs, if you want that go for the Native Instruments Audio8DJ...

  • thanks...so i should just forget about investing in one if i'm already using a serato kit, right

  • That's right, the Apogee is more for recording stuff. If you're interested on producing music, it's an "affordable" option (the cheapest interface for the quality)

  • Could I run an Avalon 737 mic preamp into Duet?

  • Yes, the Duet mic pre amps can be bypassed. Since the Avalon has +4 balanced outputs, Set the duet input to XLR Line +4dbu, plug the XLR out of the Avalon into the XLR input of the Duet and you are ready to go.

  • How can I get the best sound quality out of my duet with my guitar and my distortion pedal?

  • Plug the output of your pedal into one of the Instrument inputs of the Duet. In Maestro set the input to "Instrument"

Now the fun part is experimenting with different gain and tone settings to taylor the sound to your needs.
