  • I know there's something wrong with you. While most people talk on here about drugs with you. I see a really sweat, compassionate man alone. Who has no woman to keep him warm in bed, or comfort him after a nightmare. Youtube is not going to love you for who you are quit wasting your time and take a chance at love.

  • Mianserin is used alot in Norway, brand name Tolvon.

It's extremely sedating (even more than it's cousin mirtazapine) but only work for mild depression.

It's also approved for bipolar depression and insomnia.

It doesn't cause cardiac problems, and is not anticholinergic so it is used alot in the elderly.

  • Thank you very much Doctor - Asenapine is being pushed right now in England - as an alternative to Olanzapine - with less side effects.

I realise that Lirezapam is quite addictive and use very occasionally.

Thanks again Doc you don't realise how helpful it is that you share your experience.

  • I got very sick from asenapine in 2010. Scary scary drug.

  • Schizophrenia and bipolar should not be associated together, because one is an organic, dementia disease, and the other can be induced in healthy people through the use of psychological pressures.

  • thanks for the update, those kind of drugs acts on so many different recpetors it's like taking 2-5 drugs at the same time.

  • @telewebservices your welcome

  • Hi Doc if our son is acutely manic (bipolar 1) we were advised to add 1mg of lorazepam to the 6mg of Risperidone at night - it works but once it has worn off he gets manic again Is it okay to mix Lorezapam and risperidone on a limited way say no more than 3 nights?

  • @jnmklo9 they mix well together in my experience prescribing them to patients

  • What do you know about Ketamine? I heard in a radio interview with psych ward docs, who were experimenting with it, that one intravenous injection of Ketamine makes depression disappear, such that the sufferer isn't even aware that he ever had depression.

  • Hi again Doc, Just wanted to correct myself re:: mianserin. While this drug has been dabbled with in the labs as an antidepressant, since 1966, it apparently didn't make enough of a bang to get put on the market, at least until now. I confused another drug, nomafensine aka Merital with mianserine.. I believe Merital did get approval, and was proving popular until it was taken off market.Whether it was available in the states or Europe, I'm not sure.

    ,

  • @vanalac thanks

  • Thanks Doc your concerns seem very justified and there is an air of desperation about this being marketed for bipolar. We find only risperidone helps the mania to the degree that it eliminates thoughts either voices or when the sufferer is just so frustrated that they want to delve back into to a familiar thought pattern as a way of relieving the pressure .

  • @jnmklo9 ok

  • Hi Doc, watch your videos and find them fascinating! Re: Asenapine, I saw a psychiatrist back when the ssris were just hitting the streets. I had responded poorly to them, save Prozac. He mentioned mirtazepine as a possible adjunct, and noted mianserin was a chemical cousin of mirtazepine. It apparently had become quite popular, had decent efficacy, but got pulled several years prior due to concerns, I believe, about liver toxicity. The ad jingle was" Vive La Difference", according to my doc!

  • @vanalac thanks thats useful

  • With that kind of receptor profile it sounds like a nightmare for the patient and the psychiatrist.

  • @psx1337 yes is it akathisia or sedation

  • lol, this is best 2012 vid so far from you :)

  • @freetrancemusic all right i still have it stay tuned for more

  • @DOCTOROFMINDMD U hav charisma and turn into DOM wen in front of the camera!

  • my doc wont prescribe it i asked it 4 times!!!!!!!

  • @freetrancemusic why not

  • @DOCTOROFMINDMD he sais its a pill with side effects, im not acute manic or manic, lol he sais he should go live on my own be responsible, but i feel very depressed for a long time (14 years now) and now its severe, i cant beleive he's saying that, and won't let me even try Asenapine for depression :( im sick of life

  • As a "pine" is it related to Clozapine (FazaClo dissolveble form in particular). I was put on Asenapine for four days and felt like scratching my eyes out and jumping out of cars. I took myself off of it. Now go back to bed.

  • @baaadpuddytat i did and felt better thanks
