  • No doubt...

Danny's one of the greatest song-smith's this 20th Century ever produced. Keen into Americana, politically and socially aware, Mr. (Danny) O'Keefe often writes and sings about what most of our American voices are hard-bound to throat out. In addition, may I sublimely suggest, aside Bob Dylan, we haven't heard an artist so 'clued-in' to the heart-beat of this nation since. He knows us, sings about and through us. Here's my Woodrow Wilson $100K bill. Go ahead - find a bigger one.

  • great story behind the first song: Danny "co-wrote" it with Bob Dylan, who contributed little more than "Well, Well, Well". The second song, "Magdalena", is odd but truly beautiful. "...her love is like a razor, my heart is just a scar..." wow! Danny O'Keefe: the greatest singer/songwriter you never heard!

  • What a great songwriter and performer...

one of the best. We need to see him more!

  • omg. is that him? naw.

  • jUST A AWESOME CLIP!!!! hard to find video of Danny thx for posting

  • Where was this taken at? Looks like a great venue!

  • Magdelana, Breezy Stories, Mad Ruth, Comet Tavern Seattle. Mark Daniels

  • Danny O'Keefe is one of my absolute favorites. I have several one man show versions of Good Time Charlie's Got The Blues, you'll see them amongst other performances see batsinyourbelfry GoodAndGooder JamaicaMeanOmelette and maybe others in the related username channels of mine. I've seen 2 of Chet playing that too. I've noticed that Mr. O'Keefe isn't on video as much as most performers who were as famous as he was in the 70's. This is the first actual film footage of him I've seen, on you tube.
