Hi Im looking at converting my 35ft challenger to electric. Can you tell me the displacement of your boats and how many Watts she takes at 5,4 and 3 knots if you know? Thanks trying to figure out how much power ill need...

@tprdfh51 The weight of my battery pack 528 pounds. You can use a smaller battery pack, I had eight T125 batteries, for 240 AH at 48volts. I wanted a 20 nautical mile range at 4knots. In hind sight it far exceeded my actual use.

COOL!!! Does the trojan batteries work better than lithium-ion phosphates? They also looked really heavy! How long does it take for them to recharge? I really like what you did w/ the conversion! No more buying fuel or parts breaking left & right. Good job bro.

What is the top speed and range using the electric motor?

@Odziz Sailboats have a displacement hull so their top speeds tend to be around 5 to 8 knots, (longer the boat the higher the speed) making them perfect for electric conversion. Tranquility's top speed was around 5 knots with the electric motor, which is about what the gas motor provided. Sailboats are for sailing, so the motor was just for putzing around the harbor or getting off the mooring. I had a range of 20 nautical miles at 4 knots to get home in case of no wind.
