  • UNA PASADA........ME ENCANTA........

  • Listening to Jimmy Scott should be required listening for any vocalist regardless of style of music. His breath control, intonation, phrasing, dynamics since of time (singing way behind the beat, but still in the pocket) provides so many lessons all wrapped up in one. Listen to Jimmy scott for at least 6 months all the time and you'll be a pretty damn good vocalist.

  • Amazing voice and most charming and warm in person. A real jewel <3

  • I have been listening to Little Jimmy Scott's music since I was in my early teens, in the 50's. I love all his wonderful music.

  • I've been looking for him singing....."If I Ever Lost You" Can't find it here on YouTube I heard it in the movie" Lackawanna Blues" I thought it was a woman singing. I'd LOVE to hear it in full.

  • You know what Nipsisone? I just discover Little Jimmy Scott . He is fabulous. His voice is unique and so full of emotions. Thanks a bunch for posting his songs. Take care

  • Go see Mr. Scott live ! New tour dates are up for 2010. I have only seen him once at Lincoln Center and it was one of the best nights of my life.

  • Now I see who Miki Howard borrowed her phrasing from for her version of this song. What an incredible voice and what a gift this man has been given.

  • @speakwhnspkn2 ... I felt like hearing Imagination but couldn't find Miki's version. lol

  • Stephan, This is Jimmy's wife. I thought you'd like to know Jimmy's favorite all-time song is "I Wish I Knew", along with "When Did You Leave Heaven". He's been singing both songs since the 1940's. :>)

    Best,

    Jeanie Scott

  • Dear Precious Mrs.Scott, I love every aching note of the greatest interpreter of song ever. The greats were just that...Jimmy is the one that transcended them all in that he never allowed technique to overshadow emotion. The scriptures even say" What is from the heart reaches the heart." God Bless And Keep You Both.

  • "Nipsipone...THANK YOU"...,

for sharing this "GRRRREAT VOCALIST" w/ the YT family. We can't take for granted that the new(up and coming) students of "The Fine Art Of Singing" are familiar w/ the great singers of the past.

    I appreciate this thorough presentation.

    God Bless You...and your family.

    Most Sincerely,

    Jesse Belvin Jr.

    aka..., ~Mr.Golden Voice~

  • I should be thanking you and your father one og the finest voices I have ever heard and i believe he sang in every group that came from the west coast and yes Jimmy Scott needs to be heard Rich

  • Were a lot of the songs on "The Source" re-issued on "Lost and Found?" There's a version of "Day by Day" that's just unreal. Also a great "I Wish I Knew." Just wondering.

  • It's quite possible, as the sample I've just heard of "IWIK" from "L&F" does sound remarkably like that on "TS", a remarkable album. I'd posted that track, but, is was deleted, though his version of "Day BY Day" was allowed to stay.

He'd recorded "IWIK" while serving as Lionel Hampton's vocalist, though he was never given credit on the track.

  • Silly to delete those because of copyright infringement. One company had a brighter idea on one of my postings: they added an ad to the bottom as to where to buy it. Now that's smarts! They put me to use as a free advertiser!

  • EXACTLY!

That's what I do do now, post links to an online store where the cd can be purchased. The WORST transgressor is WMG, as they enjoy filing copyright claims on songs they don't even own & artists who never recorded for any of their subsidiaries!

  • nice voice

  • alright !!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • Wow! Great voice and good jazz style.

With his vocal timbre, power, and focus, I bet he could have sung Baroque opera arias with training in that style.

  • My god! I would've loved to hear him singing opera. He would've taken it completely and utterly by storm. There are tons and tons of musical pieces written for just exactly that very sort of voice. Boy's voice but with the strength and power of an adult man. He would've outshone Oberlin and Deller easily. What a beautiful voice. Sublime.

  • a Voice for Eternity !

    Impossible to leave one indifferent!

I see you don't mention his masterpiece album "The source" (1970)! A must!!

  • Amazing.. there are no words to describe this! Just close the eyes and drift away from this place.

  • It's wonderful how such a great voice can come from within a man of such small size. In my ears he is larger than life itself.
