look for braised IC's. in fact there is a defect IC when the drives don't work....

ritee hey guys i have this problem buttt. i found a way to open and close it ryt as the comment a few below sez it the thing on the drive casin all ya do is put the top one on press open hit it carefully but with central force or try pushing the middle down,all it does is draws the magnet to it,because magnet power wares out but it still wont read so any help?

OK guys i have this same problem , the magnet is fine , its "inside" the round thing that goes on top of the disk , i finally got it on properly without it flying off when the disk spins , but it just stops spinning after a second and says open tray?

i have Not figured out what the problem is so any suggestions would be much appreciated

no because the magnet has to be round, and has to be the correct strength.

pretty sure its because of the xbox cause the xbox keeps saying opening even when the disc drvie is disconnected and it also keeps blinking

try to open it manually with the manual gear on the drive just below the tray

ok this is what happens.....When you play your xbox too much it gets really really hot...so the glue for the magnet to stay on fries up...so then it pops off and sticks to the metal plate above it.....so check the top metal plate for the drive and it should be there.....take it down... and tell me when you have done so

yeah... problem, there isnt anything there, ill take a video if you want but its nothing there, you think i can take a different magent and glue it in with like guerrilla glue?

I think that the box just normally turns on without the disk drive. If i remember correctly my old one would without it when i was modding it. To be honest after watching your other video i think that the xbox thinks its always opening the disk drive. Because in the other video it says opening on the screen, and the center light flashes when the disk drive is opening. But thats just what i got from it.
