just in aus for the last few months and had to listen to tis song wha a tune.. but makes u think how fucked up our country is!!! and how much since tis song makes lol.. lock it in eddie
the banking elites are causing this, if they wanted they could stop mass immigration, poverty, wars etc but they dont care about you, theres no profit in peace for them , great song btw ;')
I enjoy the irrelevant ill informed comments regards Bankers. I am one, yes, it's very sad what has happened. No one seems to realise is that is wasnt bankers mortgaging themselves at levels they couldnt afford, buying houses, flat screen tvs etc that they couldnt afford. They made have made the gun, but no one forced the masses to pull the trigger... What is funny now is that we are leaving.. along with our huge tax payments.. which no one seems to get will turn the UK into Ireland..byyeeeee
@Tratra9129 oh ur a wanker sorry banker, and ye i bet ur family are in callin distance u pleb, the country's in a fucking state because of u and ur fat bastard friends, i know u say it wasnt ur fault's but it was, how much was ur mortage? and what do u mean "we are leaving" were the fuck did u go/are goin?
Bring tears to the eyes! already immigrated to Australia! It kills me that i had to leave but i was left wit no choice fuck the irish goverment both past and present ye've ruined our country and the people in it!
@MrRossfraney Have you left ireland? Obviously not! i wasnt talkin about the brittish rule either i was talkin about current and past governments of ireland that corrupted our country forcing the youth of our country to leave!
@ilenrover like i said no past government has caused mass emigration since the time of british rule , youve obviously never looked at a history book either
@ilenrover Yes I Agree, Fuck All The politicians In Ireland, I Am Still Living Here And I'm Thinking Of Getting The Fuck Out Of Here With All My Family, Including My mother And Father.
What utterly dreadful lyrics !! Just heard it on a local radio show - I was squirmiing for the poor writer - one Johnny Duhan - talk about wringing the neck of a metaphor until it shrieks. How often does Christy puke singing this. There's verse ; second rate rhymin' and then there's this. As Mike Murphy would opine - "Yowsa , yowsa !" Ouch !!
This song has so many wonderful memories and thoughts for me. It is a song of unconditional love and intimacy. It speaks of a love between peoples that is the greatest gift a couple can ever share. It was sung at my wedding and I played it again a handful of weeks later at the funeral of my adored wife.
Some songs hold you still and rooted to the spot. They calm the tired and morrning mind, enable the beauty of life to shine through and allow the sadness to be put aside a while. Wonderful.
This was my Wedding song..I love this Song and also to Sing it from time to time......I love the words of it....... & if U were to close your eye' s and sing along you would dream of what it says & what Life together is all about with all the Up's & Downs...for Karen x x x
@japmanmdna Ye same here. I'll probably end up emigrating soon on my own. This country is screwed for the next 5 to 10 years. There's nothing here. Emigrating is rising like hell.
The meaning of life holds no place for Bankers,Governments...etc, THEY SERVE ONLY THE DEVIL HIMSELF,the gift of this song is from the man above,as is life itself. Chrisy what an amazing meaningful voyage you've come in you're own life in sharing such words of wisdom!!!!
This was the song we used to put on when our first daughter was born,I am thinkin of my wife and family now listenin to dis, wish I was with them now, but Ireland has left me with little choice but to work and live away from my family,Ireland, how can I forgive you for this, look what the bankers have done to my family and me,apart from the face but not in mind>>>>>>>>>>>
@mervuemartin1 For some reason I just decided to listen to the voyage by Christy to night and I saw your comment. You sound very upset and i don't blame you. Blame lies with the greedy bankers, but for them we would still have a great little country. From your comments it sounds like I might be a lot older than you and therefore I have been through this before in the 70's and 80's. We have been through this before and we will get through it again. Best wishes

@ackymsue1 So sorry to read your post. My mum died of cancer just before Christmas.....please God you will beat that arsehole of a disease again xxxxx
I want to dislike your comment, but its so true. Sick of all my close friends and family being forced to leave home to make a living. It not fair on any of them
@mervuemartin1 most people that leave ireland to work abroad dont have a wife and kid to leave behind. that was ur own choice and if u ask me u picked money over family, and while ur gone ur wife is more than liely bangin sum other bloke and ur kids are callin em daddy ,u didnt have to leave ireland u just didnt wanna work in mc donalds or tesco, how can u forgive urself ?
@jackielennon1 god bless? shut the fuck up will ya, its people like you that have the economy fucked, with your "lets all do what we want and spend what we have cos god will provide for us if we need it" bullshit ideals, the only twat here is you for being so openly stupid by posting that comment, he can "Provide" all he wants for his family but whats the point if they dont have a father around,ya stay with ur kids and stick at it,ya dont leave ur country in the shit and fuck off.or ur family.
I'm having this song played at my wedding, its probably one of the best songs and Christy Moore is just a pure genius with it, I dont think anyone could ever do as good a job

Good an right ya are Sean and Tina. Me da knew him well and on occasion they would share a pint at Mother Red Caps before it was torn down and me da would ask me to sit a while with them. Me Da is gone and Christy is still about. Whenever I hear him sing, I can see me da.....
My late father introduced this song to me many years ago, he loved it and i cant listen to it still to this day without shedding a tear when it comes to the part about starting the voyage with just him and my mum and then having me and my siblings around them. Now i think of me and my own husband and our children. A beautiful song, thanks for posting it.
this is a song about commitment and going tog in life with kids etc. thought that was me but not to be. lovely song for those that stay tog good luck to you
Christy Moore is my biggest hero. I saw him live at least 3 times now and he always puts on a brilliant show (funny and entertaining as well as great songs and music). He sang this song for me as a request a few years back for my birthday (thanks to my Dad lol).
This is a beautiful song (def one of my favs). Thanks for uploading:-)
this is a very emotive song, such great lyrics on live and love. this reminds me of my sister's wedding, 2007, great day in Donegal. Great song Christy, great ambassador for irish music
