As I say on the top comments, this was my first belt test (4 years ago) to get the yellow belt. I don't think we should expect great performance, stances etc... When I look back I think, how slow can we be lol lol... it was fun..
OK! first off this is not Isshin Ryu! Looks like they made this kata up as a filler for the other and original 8. Naihanchi, Seisan, Sanchin, Seiuchin, Wanshu, Chinto, Ku san Ku, and Sun Su. Schools do this in order to charge for extra rank and belt fee's to make more money. If you want to learn the original katas you have to buy books from Master Wheeler or Long. These are the only katas of Isshin Ryu.
??? I study Traditional Shito Ryu Style Karate, and I did Pidan Nidan, which is the same pattern, but using Gedan Barrai, Oi Tsuki, and Age Uke. I didnt see any of the moves in this haha
When he guards with his other arm is it suposed to be low ,just wondering because in other martial arts namely tang soo do were told to put our guard near our pec muscle
never seen this kata. not isshin ryu. Master Long never taught this kata nor did the founder. I have seen Tae Kwon Do form performed as isshin ryu. Just teach the original 8 katas.
I have learned a completely different version of this kata. I was wondering why there are so many versions of the same katas? I see little differences in each one. Congratulations on obtaining your belt. Keep it up.
@kawells00 there is diffrent katas becuse there is diffrent clubs like waterloo and showdacan.they are 2 diffrent clubs so there for there is diffrent kata
ok that looked quite like the white belt kata which is keyhong but it has its differences then for orange belt theres hanshodan which is the same as keyhong but some moves are different then at red belt theres hanidan which is completely different and finaly for the yellow belt there is hansandan which is also different o yh ur working at a white belt level ....... btw soz bout the spelling
Good going! You can already see good timing and form. Carry on Yellow belt! Just successfully tested for Shodan after 5 years in my school. Practice, practice, practice! You'll do great.
the Kihon is ok..Im an IsshinRyu Karate Nidan we never did this kihon we always did the charts as my Sensei's Sensei Harold Long taught them..but this guy will be around for a while..nice foot work.

there are traces of pinan in some of the Isshin Ryu kata and the Vertical fist punch is the only punch we use in our kata....OSU

In IR, do you do the pinan katas? If so, do you use the IR vertical fist in the punches or the horizontal fist like other styles?
