I remember when this came out. It was widely watched, and along with Watergate and Iran-contra, helped to change U.S. policy. Interestingly, it caused a right-wing reaction. Moyers was denounced as a liar and a communist. Also, the Iranian hostage incedent was reinterpreted to some as the result of a lack of covert action. After 9/11, the same reaction took place with the same results. Policy errors will erode democracy as long as the citizenry remain ambivalent.

This doc gives a pretty distorted perspective. Fi it makes a big deal about Mossadeq being democratically elected and 'not pliable' to western interests but this guy had an aristicrat background, was educated at the Sorbonne & in Switzerland and just another puppet.

Moyers is such a ninny. This was a very influential propaganda piece at the time. Notice how successful he is in making the idea of having an intelligence apparatus that does not operate in public seem novel and abnormal. It is neither. It has been a feature present, to some extent, in most every major country since ancient times. That doesn't make it good, of course. This doc is permeated by Moyers' hard left bias. It distilled a set of Anti-American themes that have remained very popular.

"Anti-American" the way it is effectively described is being against crimes of the security apparatus, such as the infamous crimes of the CIA. But this is a misnomer. Real patriots who understand what America was meant to stand for know that Jeffersonian concepts of freedom and avoidance of foreign entanglements is actually the true "pro-American" stance.

So sad to see America like this. Do not blame all Americans though. Many are waking up to the truth, but they need help. The government keeps everyone in the dark here and people believe their lies because they have no reason to distrust them. I hope we will be free from their tyranny soon.

The government wants us to believe in god and just pray so we will not actually fight and nothing will happen and they will just keep on doing what they do. Praying only helps us with confidence it does not change anything. This is just my opinion.

The African people finally rebelled so as 2 stop the horrific oppression of the British ruling elite. Part of South Africa is still predominately white ; (
