  • i got the same one from poundland..brilliant.

  • its an 1/3 AA batt

  • 4:47 FAIL !

  • nice

  • Nice video. I have a possible application if modding the circuit will work. Should I be able to swap the white led for a UV led without burning out the led or circuit? Maybe a bigger battery too. Voltages and currents seem similar on both white and UV leds. I need to make a bug attracting light that will mark the arrival of certain pests in my fruit trees. Modding a garden light might be just what I need.

  • @Tubeglowfun yes you can add an UV led to an solar garden light,it won't be any problem :)

  • we all need a Gold Tree* VS A "Money Tree" you can make some money off stuff you doing .. a Gold Tree will do ...Ppl are out of jobs so we are turning to cheaper ways

to save money it is 3:25 am power bill used to be $187 to $203 this time of year

now i use a long "mirror and your lights and it lite up yhr whole house

  • Great video YOU NEED TO GET ALL OF US TOGETER IN ONEchatroom ok LOOK

you got something here open a chatroom in Buzzen chatroom soon so we all can put our tip /minds togther see what works best Huh

  • can't get it to post TEST 1 23

  • omg im gona to gule one of these to my phone. so i can only put my phone in the sun wehn i will load it

  • cool

  • The circuit does not have a toroid yet you said at 4:18 that it looks EXACTLY like a JT. Can you explain how?

  • Great video Kubukop.

Thank you. I do not want to take mine apart, just in case I brake it.

Did you ever measure the battery when full? Is it 1.v2,1.5v, 3 v??

I agree it is interesting this tech has been around and yet stays hidden from most people.

Thanks for doing this work and showing.

  • In description, it's a AAAA 1.5v, and so the 3.2v higher voltage from the solar cell will recharge it. Could probably put some 1.5v in parallel to juice things. ;)

  • The reason I ask is that the AAAA is the same length as a AAA or AA, and this is very much shorter. I just wondered, since he said it "looks like AAAA"

  • He bought them at the dollar store ;) I saw these type lights at Christmas as lit candy canes along the driveway. Never occurred to me, what they were...

  • Hi there!

First of all thank you for all your great vids.

I took several of these garden lights apart a few months ago and I wanted to add one of my super caps to the charging side but there only seems to be a voltage of .3 to .5 which seems to low to work with or have I missed something?. Do you have any suggestions as you said you were going to add a cap yourself. Did you have any luck?

  • If you just hook it up I think that you will find your multimeter is registering the massive spike of voltage. The capacitor will charge, make sure you use a diode to the positive side so you do not damage your Solar cell..

    Paul..

  • That thing supposedly available here in the Philippines, and Our government will purchase it and distribute it to many poor areas in this country that have no electricity yet.... that thing will help a lot to those little kids reading books at night using only a kerosene lamp .... In your country you just use it in your garden, maybe us here we can use it in our living room.... thank's a lot SIR KUBIKOP... keep uploading useful videos like this....

  • Thanks, and I hope it helps you to not uses kerosene lamps as there is a risk of fire...

    Paul..

  • What you call "Joule thief", in this case is just a DC-DC converter, a very well known type of circuits. I think that the term "Joule thief" was used originally to refer a circuit that can get some usable energy from almost depleted batteries (it is a rudimentary steep-up DC-DC converter), so I think that we shouldn't use that term for everything that uses a coil and an oscillator. Anyway, I enjoy a lot your videos.

  • Yeah, I know its just become a bit of a slang word I think. The circuits are good at squeezing the last drops out of what seem like dead batteries though.

Glad you like the videos too...

    Paul..

  • k well i live in Canada, can you get me a link for super caps off ebay or any other site that will ship to Canada?

  • Ill PM you the Link....

  • How Much Does that Cost? I Want One:) and Nice video

  • In England we have a store called Pound Land.

Everything in the store is 1 UK Pound.

    I got it from there...

Hope this helps, you must have a similar store by you?

    Paul..

  • Ya The Dollar Store but they dont have much electronics there. :(

  • How Much is shipping from UK?

I will send you at Cost of Item plus Postage?

    It might be pricey though?

    Paul..

  • No Id Skip Just Because i dont like giving my address online. But Thanks For Offering:)

  • All this negative impedance stuff actually originates from oldschool RF antenna technology.

  • Thats what I was doing in my one wire transmission video the SWR is sending all the power to the end like cracking a whip.

I might get some old radio books when I can..

    Paul..

  • I have a garden lite and its horrible. I think a Joule thief would do better .. except someone would need to modify the Joule thief to have the on-when-dark capability.

  • just cut the leads on the one you have and put a joule thief circuit on the two connections...

    Paul..

  • if its not a joule theif its some sort of voltage increasing circuit

  • Yeah I do not think it is the two coil version but the one transistor oscillating with an inductor one...

and A simple dark bias transistor to switch it on...

    PAul..

  • its not realy a joule theif then is it?

  • Yeah, cause it still runs down to the transistor base voltage whilst turning the light on...

  • You can call it joule thief if you want what those small lamp are using is the same principle they boost the voltage with an inductor. It's probably the easiest way to do so altought some circuit can boost the voltage with more complicate part ^^

  • can you give me some links to super caps? ive been looking around ebay and supply stores, i cant seem to find any.

  • Ill have a look do you live in US or UK?

    Paul

  • Look who's Back! xD Long time no see Paul. How are you?

  • Hiya kewl, Thanks been busy though...

    How are you?
