I met Alan for the first time at MBC 2011 in Olivet, MI. He is a great teacher, player, and just a great person in general. Not many people cite Alan as an influence, but I certainly do. His version of Bill Monroe's Jerusalem Ridge is so lonesome and is one of the best I've heard, that and he also taught a melodic break to Clinch Mountain Backstep. Great guy, and he has such a great sense of humor.

Great job Alan. If you are reading this - this is from Spook. Ian's old friend from Sir Pizza! Good to hear some of your music on the youtube!
