How to change the color of a pattern in photoshop! *VERY EASY*

Sorry, I learned nothing. This was done WAY too fast to follow for us visual learners.

I added the pattern the way you did it but I don't know how to change the scale of the pattern, it comes out in really tiny specks on the 12x12 size. I know how to change the scale by adding the pattern through the Adjustment Layers button but it creates the pattern on a new layer, and doesn't fill it in directly on the background. How do you change the scale by using the Fill option??

To make it gradient, just open your blending options and select "Gradient" just as you would to make a drop shadow.

highlignt the gradient option to get to its options to change color etc..
