Kaufmann is very good here. And an argument can be made that he is the greatest tenor today. All time? A comparison would need to be made role by role. Some would pick Kaufmann but others would make different choices based on personal taste. And I don't need to go that far back in time. Kaufmann has a dramatic voice; is he as good as Domingo was in his prime? Or with lyric roles as good as Pavarotti? Or in heroic roles as good as Vickers? For you probably yes. Again, it's personal taste.

ahhhhh another opinion popular to the fantasies of the masses - many of us are unexplored mega-talents - unfortunately talents such as Kaufmann's or Fleming's are rare genetic events. Talents such as Callas' are enormously rare genetic "accidents"
I have been taken with Kaufmann;s voice from the very start... wonderful voice, dark, creamy quality with a thrilling top.. and control( decrescendos and crescendos... he has an artistic temperment, he is a fabulous interpreter... not to mention he has the looks of a greek god... And you pick one of my favorite arias for a tenor..( gorgeous, aria)...
