  • Aurora really needed INTELLIGENCE :p

  • @3v3LiN11 My sister and I agreed that WAS going to be the gift Merryweather planned to give her at the beginning of the movie before Maleficent interrupted her. Would have been a lot more useful than the gift of song, FAUNA.

  • You know, for kids!

  • You know, Maleficent's glowing eyes in the fireplace seriously creeped me out. That reminds me I've always had a phobia for the "evil glowing eyes" and "stare" stuff when I was little - in fact, the infamous dark forest sequence from "Snow White" scared me so much 'cause those burning eyes in the darkness, but I guess I was the only one with this kind of fear...

  • im 13 and im incredibly scared now!!!

this has 2 b the scariest part in ANY princess movie!!!

  • I watched Sleeping Beauty for the first time when I was 5. This scene freaked me out. I'm now 15 and I forgot it like 1 year ago and now I'm watching this again. I understand why I was Frikin scared.

  • Hard to believe the real name of the piece playing is "Puss in Boots", and it's about two cats flirting.

  • Aurora, ya bitch, stop raising only one eyebrow

  • I always wondered what that background voice was saying, And when I heard it say "Aurora" on clearer quality, It's makes this more eerie and bone-chilling. Love it! :D

  • it's funny how dead auroras face is when she's in a trance

  • no matter what age you are this is the creepiest scene ever

  • Children, I introduce you to your nightmares for the next few weeks.

  • This is THE creepiest scene in Disney history. You know you're the best Disney villain when the characters can hear your theme music! And how Aurora's one eyebrow is unnaturally high and she doesn't blink until the fairies try to call her makes it soo powerful.

  • My friend told me now that the sound sings "Aurora". I thought it was just an "aww" sound in tune. But now that I know that, it makes this scene a shit load scarier.

  • they don't make cartoons like this anymore...

  • shit this scene is very scary and morbit, and this was a kids movie..being a 90s generation child..i loved this, but now, i now seee the full front of how frightening it was.

  • STILL SCARES THE CRAP OUTTA ME!

    *screams*

  • They're like "PUSH THE WALL WE HAVE TO GET IN!!!!!! Oh wait, we can try these magical stick thingys we have."

  • the song is aurora's arrival/maleficent's evil spell they have the sound track on youtube

  • @Neevvuhh Ur thinking of hefalumps and woozles from winne the pooh but i get the confusion the scenes are very similar.

  • i used to walk around the house just like that... My mom used to be so scared...

  • i was afraid but now im not maleificent did a thing called a will-of-the-wisp i looked it up its real but like a myth

  • Omgosh that's the scariest sequence ever.. Seriously.. You don't need over the top weapons and gore to scare someone!

  • Aurora looks the best in this scene.especially when she walks up to the top.

  • When I was a kid this scene gave me fucking nightmares for months.

  • @clasbjorklund You're not alone dude. This scene scared the living shit out of me as a kid! I swear whenever my parents turn on this movie I was terrified to even watch it.

  • THIS STILL SCARES THE SHIT OUT OF ME.

  • @frozhouonthego SAME HERE!

  • this is scarier than every horror movie

  • i actually used to dread this part so much :(

  • @manduh87 me too!!! But I hid behind the couch and didn't come out until the end if the scene!! ( maleficent is my childhood nightmare)....

  • Y'all know that this music is actual music from the original ballet Tchaikovsky had composed. Yep. This song is in the ballet. So is the song "Once Upon a Dream" and "I Wonder". Look up Tchaikovsky Sleeping Beauty Waltz. Listen to the WHOLE thing and you'll notice some of the music. ;) That's just a little history info for y'all.

  • I watch this scene just to abuse my brain

  • *Maleficent is not a witch or a sorcerer, she's an evil fairy, God dammit ;A;

  • When Maleficent's eyes popped up in the fireplace...I remember when I was like 5 years old I used to hide behind the living room chair. My favorite disney movie, but it scared me to death. Along with the last scene in Fantasia.

  • Don't touch ANYTHING.. anything .. anything

  • Damn, what is Aurora, a moth? LIGHT IS NOT (always) GOOD! Do NOT go toward the light!

  • Maleficent dislikes this... and used her sorcery to multiply it 13 times.

  • NOOOOOO!!!! WHAT HAPPENS AFTER SHE TOUCHES IT??? THAT WAS THE WHOLE POINT OF WATCHING THIS VIDEO! -:(

  • 0:05 Do you hear the voice that pronounced "Aurora" ??? :/

  • This movie is traumatic for me at least the first time i watched it.I think that the combination of music and that, evil creature (who was the scariest of all Disney's-in my opinion-) makes it such creepy that i still feel the same thing every single time i watch and hear it...I am 23 and i feel fear.No comment please.

p.s: Snow white's evil creature is unbearable to watch it when it transforms to the old "thing"...I think that Voldemort is silly infront of it!

Disney is not fun all the time.

  • This scene with this music used the scare the crap out of me.

  • @KiranStevens

    USED TO?!?!?!!?!?!?!?!

  • @mikethesmooth Yeah I lied, I was trying to be manly. I hate that you responded to my comment because it brought me back to this page where the stupid video autoplayed and started to creep me out again. Seriously scary. I can't believe we would watch this as kids.

  • @KiranStevens used??!! DUDE IT STILL DOES!!

  • Psycho music

  • I never liked how Disney took secondary characters and put them at the forefront; like the fairies in this movie, the mice in Cinderella, the Dwarfs in Snow White, etc.

I wanted to see the princesses and princes rather than those hanging out with them.

  • yeah, pushing at the brick magically concealed wall is going to get you far, flora. this is why maleficent wins here

  • i'm sorry but this music scared the shit outta me when i was young and it still does! its right up there with the halloween music!!

physically cant watch this film b4 i go 2 bed cause of this scene!

seriously what the hell made walt think "yes this is the music to go with the scene"?!!

this film is almost like a prep film for your first horror!! :S

  • I'm 18, and this scene is still freaking me out. This makes 'Saw' to look like... okay, I can't find any words for this. It's just a lot more scary! (I think)

  • 0:06 "AAAAUUROOOORAAAA"

  • Walt Disney is a FRIKIN GENIUS

    RIP man

  • It's interesting.. the pupils of Maleficent in the fireplace are off-kilter. They aren't evenly drawn. I think it was intentional, as it really adds more to the horror, kind of makes the eyes look dead and non-human.

  • @totallynothere If you look closely on the Platinum Edition. You will see that her eyes are not matching the direction of her face which gives you this question. Who is she looking at? The princess or you?

  • @Spindler2007 To me, it looks like she's staring at the audience. But it's more than that...She's looking into your very soul and instills your heart with a sense of awe and fear...Mostly fear. And on a side note, you have to wonder about the nature of her facial expression. In earlier versions, you couldn't make it out. Now you can actually see it. I expected her to have the face of a person who's waited 16 years to kill somebody, and is so close that she can taste it. But no, not even a smile.

  • @Anathar88

Yeah, on the old VHS prints, you couldn't see her face in the fireplace at all. Just her glowing eyes. Until I saw the restored DVD version, I had no idea her whole image was there. I actually think it was scarier with just her eyes, even if it was only that way by accident.

  • @Spindler2007 creepy haha

  • Watched this movie way to often, we had to buy à new onexD Now I don't get how I survived this movie without nightmares when I was 3-5

  • Those eyes make me wanna freak the fuck out.

  • 0:34 what the hell?

  • @iammighty1 Scandalous

  • I think it's funny how the fairies don't realize she's in a trance until they hear the chant again, and then I just sit back and say, "wait, you mean you didn't hear it the first three times?" And seriously, the fairies are running and the princess is going really slowly, it shouldn't take that long to find her.

  • @iammighty1 but they are also searching every hallway whilst she is on one path

  • Love how Aurora has that WTF look in her trance.

  • 0:13 seeing her eyes and face is more chilling/creepy than staring at a spider.

  • @theedit123 Spiders are nothing to me.... Snakes however....*shivers*

  • This is scary...especially when you see malifecents face all of a sudden

  • when I was a child, I always felt frightened when watching this part.

  • those eyes in the fireplace scared the crap out of me when i was a kid...

  • this scene so scary! but im glad they have the fairy talking,or else im peeing my pant right now

  • this scared me when i was five years old :P,espeacially with that music and the way she walks! like a soul wandering around! OH GOSH WHY DID I SAY THAT? NOW I CANT SLEEP! hic hic.....

  • why do you have to cut the video at the best part!!! ----FAIL!

  • Great Scene..... Always loved it!

  • i was terrified when i was little of those things to what Aurora died to, i dunno how u call them. I remember my mom wanted to try it out at a farm and i started to cry like someone had tryed to chop her head off.

  • this scene crapped the hell out of me when i was a child, I was scared to go up a bunch of stairs without any light for weeks

  • ah back in the day disney had balls , instead of high school musical.

  • Maleficant has to be the most terrifying Disney villain of all time

  • I used to love this scene as a child, Is till love it. One of the best scene of the movie and Maleficient looks so scary and terrifying in it. She's one of the best Disney villains... and probably in the cinema history.

  • This scene terrified me.

  • and at 0:06 it sounds like the creepy music is saying AURORA

  • @theedit123 yeah they ARE saying that in the scene

  • 0:13 so creepy just picture that in your room at 2am and not going away

  • @theedit123 I hate you for that mental image @_@

  • @missmuggledetector lol but at least you weren't the one who was terrified at 2am in the morning

  • @theedit123 Two words.

    The Exorcist.

  • I want to know how the HELL I watched this scene as a kid and didn't get creeped out.. but still my favorite movie :)

  • Sorry but when the music is chanting 'aurora' at :06 that was some creepy shit!

  • Rose is a pretty name.

But in the swedish version they call her Aurora, I think it's so beautiful!

This part is scary, makes me afraid of small green flying sparkels

  • @ZeroHannah

They called her Rose because while the fairies were hiding from Maleficent they called her Briar Rose, her real name is still Aurora. :)

  • @kiraragirl200 Okey, ^^

  • The fireplace still scares me.

  • @zelda86100 hi

  • Eurgh. I had a nightmare about this lastnight :L

  • even after over a decade and a half of watching many movies and shows, that still makes my skin crawl

  • This scared the hell out of me growing up, to this day I hate the color green cause of her

  • This movie is amazing...many fond memories! But what makes it so fantastic was actually using Tchaikovsky's original ballet score...brilliant!

  • It's creepy when u pause the video and you can still here the music in your head. And i dont get why the faries didnt stay out there with her. i know i would. And why was the fire on, i mean dont people put the fire out when no one is in the castle (unless it was maleficent)......Questions...

  • and perfect timing when her robe comes off .same time trumpets make loud noise XD

  • "Touch the spindle....TOUCH IT I SAY!" Maleficent is so orgasmically evil!!! My favorite Disney villain ever!!! I mean goodness even her voice is sexy evil. I'm too afraid to ask her hand in marriage........toooo afraid. ='O

  • My favorite part is how "Maleficent" is translated into Chinese as "Bu Hao" or literally "not good."

  • @hilz4prez

well the name Maleficent is pretty telling of her nature, it means evil.

  • loove the music ! it so creepy and eviill ><

  • @RoByNkinss what makes it dark and disturbing is that at 0:04 you hear voices with the music calling auroras name

  • Comment removed

  • I was watching this the other day with my class of 4 year olds. One boy said, "that witch needs a job!" I laughed, but now that I think of it...Maleficent goes through an awful lot of trouble just pull a prank. I mean really, she wasn't doing this to the princess to take over the kingdom or anything (like why say Ursela was after Ariel). She was just like, "what would be an awesome joke in their face." And she spent 16 yrs and her own death on it. Now that's dedication - Yea, she needs a job.

  • uuhh okay why didn't the fairies just fly up the stairs instead of running... lol what goods magic for if you're not using it to make life easier lol

  • My favorite Disney princess by far, but this movie never scared me. The pink elephants song in Winnie the pooh, now THAT was scary.

  • @Neevvuhh Pink Elephants is from Dumbo.

  • snow white, sleeping beauty and the black cauldron i REFUSED to watch alone when i was a kid

  • 2:05 --> your sisters just checked there you moron

  • TOUCH THE SPINDLE

TOUCH THE FUCKING SPINDLE, I SAY

  • Even in a trance Auroura manages to move gracefully. Like she did in the woods

  • im 27 now but throughout my childhood i was always scared of this movie for a couple or reasons maybe more lol, first is aurora's eyes as she's tranced and the music and also when she walks up the stairs it still kinda freaks me out even now but i think to myself why? its just a disney film lol it dont really bother me as much now but when ur a child it's whole different cattle of fish lol!

  • This is one of THE most serious animated disney films of all time. They don't play around with scary scenes.

  • @Anathar88 yeah this bit is scary, i never noticed it before when i was small but now i find it quite frightening, esp 0:12 lol

  • This scene shall haunt me all the days of my life :(

  • anyone else notice that, back in the cottage when Aurora hears shes betrothed and runs upstairs to cry, thats the last time shes says anything throughout the rest of the film? Same with the Prince. Last time he said anything was when he said "Goodbye, Father." and rushed off to the cottage. They don't say A WORD throughout half the film! It's like the film ISN'T about them, but in the end, it is. Weird, huh?

  • @Anathar88 seriously! i always noticed that and it bothered me. did the people who made the voices back out in the end and they just made them silent for the rest of the movie? or what?

  • @Anathar88--- The real heroes of this film are the three fairies, I mean they do all the work in the final battle! Their sword, their shield, their protection from boulders, arrows, hot oil, gravity, chains and thorns.

  • @Anathar88 I noticed that too, very strange hey, i guess the film is more based around their fairies and malificent. Pretty clever if u ask me, they managed to make an amazing film with the main characters not talking for half of the movie

  • @Anathar88 Yes, I did notice that and that is definately why the movie wasn't as commercially and critically succesfull as it was expected to be. The main characters are incredibly bland, but i personally think the flawless animation makes up for it completely!

  • when i was younger i didnt exactly pick up the atmosphere of sleeping beauty, there are some very dark scenes. this is by far still my favorite princess movies

  • You know, that part when she is just about to enter the tower room, her posture is exactly the same as the Disney McDonald's Happy Meal figurine toy that was once sold, along with miniature spinning wheel. Exactly the same.

  • the music for maleficent in this movie is so sinister. but i love it.

  • I love Maleficent ever since 3rd grade. For some reason I always wanted to meet her back then and still do. Does anyone else have that feeling or is it just me.

  • Do you remember wanting to run through the plains of Africa with Simba?

Swing through the jungle with Tarzan?

Go to the enchanted castle with Belle?

Go to the ball with Cinderella?

Ride a magic carpet with Aladdin?

    Save China with Mulan?

Find your true love with Aurora?

Turn into mer-people and go under the sea with Ariel?

If you do or want Disney to bring back movies like this re-post, this note maybe the Disney Corporation will see it and get their heads on straight

  • this movie traumatized me as a kid!!! ever since i saw maleficent in the fireplace... ive been afraid of fireplaces!!! thats stupid i know, but i guess maleficent has that power!!! also, i can never watch this movie without me getting that freaked out feeling when it comes to this part :(

  • the name of the music please?

  • @valentinolavazo On the Disney soundtrack of the movie, it's listed as Malificent's Evil Spell.

  • If you think this is scary. You should see this vid I made last year. Its enough to give you nightmares.

  • The spindle scene haunted me more than any other horror movie.

  • OMG, when I was little, this was scene when I cry always and always... -.-'

  • My absoulte favotite Disney movie. I just love art style. Maleficent is the best bad person ever!!!

  • ugh, the creepy green light gave me the creeps when I was younger

  • I remember seeing those eyes and screamed for my dad to save me

  • Have you ever noticed that the eyes are usually used in an animated movie for a scary effect ?: Snow White (the evil glaring eyes in the scary forest), Who Framed Roger Rabbit (Judge Doom's red ones) and this scene.

  • 0:08 - 0:18 is creepy as hell. It still creeps me out to this day!

  • I used to be scared this scene very much :-s

  • 0:56 "Wait! Do you hear that? That creepy music sounds FAMILIAR..."

  • OH MY GOSH! Pause at 0:28 really creepy! O_O

  • i like her psycho eyebrow!

  • I never got why Rose had a puzzled look on her face- was she partly conscious?

Creepy scene. Still sends chills down my spine.

  • @guccigirls The way I saw it, I always thought she felt she was trapped in a nightmare as in she could react to what was happening but feel this inevitable compulsion to do whatever Maleficent told her to.

The whole movie from this point in the movie until Maleficent dies is just terrifying.

  • why didn't they use their magic to make the wall disappear in the first place?!

    brilliant scene though. brilliant movie.

  • When i was little, i loved this movie. This scene, i could not watch or watch it alone. It scared me like i was about to faint. i don't know why, but i always watched the movie over & over again. In my opinion, maleficent is the best villa ever.

  • Great scene, really scary!

Maleficent was the best, I wanted her to win:P

  • @ai9erovamwn omg why? she's bitchy for no reason. all this fuss over not being invited to a baby shower.

  • I hate that music, and those glowing green eyes at 0:13 to this day.

  • 0:13 I hate those glowing green eyes to this day

  • Whenever you see ANY form of light in a Disney cartoon which happens to be green in colour... you know sh*t's about to go down.

  • Such a creepy, scary, brilliantly dark scene... the music, the animation, the atmosphere are top notch. One of the highlights of the whole movie (and Disney history as well).

  • This scared the shit out of me when I was 10. 20 years later, totally still does.

  • Oh, I loved this so much when I was little. It was like I also was enchaned :)

  • Oh those eyes! I used to see those in the dark every night! MAleficent=best Disney villain ever!

  • I got scared when I was a kid. and up to now... geez.. the music gives me the chills at the back of my neck...!!

  • Also, I love her eyebrow. It's like she's curious and wants to follow the light even though it's evil.

  • I want to use the Maleficent music for my mean teachers. It's creepy and eerie enough, that's for sure.

  • I remember seeing this as a kid and PRAYING that the fairies would get to her in time. Lol

  • Now, THIS haunted me as a kid! Super scary and eerie.

  • I get scared everytime I see this.

    Holy f***!

  • my friend is like 19 and she still has a trauma because of that very scene. i cannot talk about it with her because she freaks out if i only mention the music XD

  • you cut out the end of the scene!!!! Rrrrrrrr

  • 0:13 That was the most scary part.

  • In the original Sleeping Beauty, while she's asleep she is raped o_e

The king comes back for more, she's awake (this is how she woke up: bein raped she got preggo and had two twins still asleep and instead of a nipple, one of the baby's sucked the flax outta her finger and she woke up) and the dumb b*tch does it again in a barn! And eventually marries him -.-'

  • @xxmetalxmonkeyxx What a Bunch of Junk!!! what book are you reading? anyone who loves the story knows thats a lie. what a creep....

  • i never realized until now that the music is actually saying aurora's name! now it's even creepier lol

  • maleficent is more scary than jafar, scar and the bad queen of snowhite together.

    scariest disney part seen ever.

  • I lov her hair

  • I hate this part. IVE ALWAYS ALWAYS GET SCARED!

Especially cuz of the music! And the creepiness of this scene.... oh gosh *closes eyes*

  • i love this song

  • This scene creeps me out! STILL!! and The Beauty and The Beast when he slams the doors when Belle's dad was in the room and a you see is his eyes and teeth. If I ever see something like coming towards me or a will-o-wisp I would definitely shit my pants.

  • The music creeped me out as a kid x

  • @Nirvanax25x The music STILL creeps me out and im 21 hehe

  • The eyebrow girl, let it rest. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

  • and WHY didnt the three faeries use their wands on the wall right away????

  • @CrystaBlade maybe they forget the spell?-they restricted their use of magic to prevent Aurora from finding out they were fairies- hence hiding her from malefecents eyes for 16 years so their instincts were probably switched to using force instead of magic. Its a subtle thing anyway, I geuss so your point does make sense.
