  • anybody knows if that piece after the song that starts around 4:07 is a song played by sb else or was it just elbow bored, playing sth between songs

ok, I know The Bones of You is great, but that thing at the end is fucking amazing, begging for sauce

  • @Tosteky

it means he is rushing around with a frown, trying to get things done, overloaded with work :)

  • I try to translate the lyrics in my language, can someone explain to me the line "Charging around with a juggernaut brow" ?

  • driving through the Scotish mountains whilst playing this on a fresh Spring morning will clense your soul....

  • @zorb2000 definetly XD

  • @ShootingStetsons It's an "Angry Face"

  • another great track of the best albumn ive heard in a long long time, musically and lyricaly pure poetry

  • This song reminds me of Assassins Creed

  • I set fire to every momento but hammer works too :)

  • I took a hammer to every momento.....

  • @testietestje

Well, the most of his lyrics concern being consumed by work, when he says juggernaught brow and a purposeful gait I think he means charging around getting work done. Being determined to meet deadlines etc.

  • @testietestje A very serious even angry look i would say. The type of person who has been damaged and has build a wall around himself to keep people away.

  • AMAZING elbow forever!!!!!!

  • This, this right here, this is real music!

  • Would love a Jimi and Guy record.

  • Smells like Porcupine Tree! ( :

  • @buzmaze yeah kinda! especially 'trains'

  • @buzmaze Porcupine Tree is way better.

  • @CuteFluffyLion I agree, it definitely is..Porcupine Tree is Porcupine Tree, but this still just reminds of it.. (:

  • @buzmaze My first thought was like.. Early Genesis or Blackfield

  • @CuteFluffyLion no you PREFER porcupine tree. its all perception really. some people think gatecrasher is harder to come up with than an iron maiden track but its just personal taste. I like elbow better than say... coldplay but I also like maiden better than kasabian.

  • @ubermaster94 That's a good point. :/ But Iron maiden and kasbian are totally different styles of music. Iron Maiden is power metal and kasbian is somewhere in the Um.. that style of music Nine Inched Nails is. Only not as extreme in that and a bit more alternative rock.

  • @CuteFluffyLion nine inch nails is mainstream industrial, same as Marilyn Manson (hense why Trent Reznor of NIN produced the first 2 Manson albums), i probably wouldn't call kasbian industrial but your point about them being alternative rock i agree with

  • I saw them open for Coldplay long ago. they were fantastic. Im just now re-discovering their music.

  • oh my god, how much do you love his voice? so husky and loverly :)

  • heard it yesterday on glasto ! it was great !

  • makes you feel so alive, simply beautiful!

  • amazing

  • lol i typed in elbow b/c my elbow hurt and i found the band. My elbow doesn't hurt anymore :)

  • soooo catchy

  • I'm five years ago...wishing I had known about this amazing band THEN.! They're amazing!

  • I actually gasped audibly and said 'Jesus' at some parts of this song.

  • His voice is mesmerizing @_@

  • really good band for sure !!!!

  • Reading festival= Muse, and Elbow. Live, On the first day. Going to be INCREDIBLE. :)

  • @imunition where & when?

  • @moparman2010 reading festival, 28th of august :)

  • @imunition

They're on the last day, but still... GONNA BE FUCKING AMAZING!

  • elbow are fudging amazing. one of my best bands.

  • Just heard Elbow for the first time and after hearing this it wont be the last.

  • 'I love the bones of you, that I will never escape...' For me, this is about a love that just won't go away. It's a connection that seems to last, no matter how far away or how long ago. It's the kind of connection of souls that some people experience and that just cannot be denied. Mind blowing.

  • This is why I love music festivals. every year I volunteer at reading festival, I love music and although I don't follow new bands that much I will see whatever is on. Anyway I had only heard of elbow once in passing and now , whilst doing my 'research', I have stumbled upon a band whose music I am totally in love with (plus their lead singer looks like Charlie Brooker)

  • saw these live at liverpool echo last night, they were absolutely amazing!

  • Always had big respect for them, but never really listened to them much. But I won tickets to see them live & was blown away, now i can't stop listening to them. :)

  • Its only the likes of bands such as ELBOW and EARTH CULTURE that have restored my faith in music these days

  • I'm from a place called Newfoundland, and some of Elbow's stuff really reminds me of a band we have called Hey Rosetta. Any fan of this band should check them out.

  • Elbow please never lose the Moog baas!

Elbow will be the Beatles of our genre!

Guys you are already the Beatles!

  • FIB 11 :)

  • I absolutly love Elbow. They are so amazing to go and watch because they engage with the audience and make us feel like we were part of the show. On the last song (normally one day like this) Guy Garvey jumps off the stage and sings to the audience. Last year I was so lucky to have him stood right infront of me, singing to me. Simply amazing. Also they sound even better live, Guy Garvey has one of those voices that just makes you melt... Absolutly fantastic. I can't wait to see them again.

  • Fantastic!

  • not really a fan of elbow but this is a tune!!

  • the lyrics are simply genius.

  • how can they be so good in a world so cold and un careing !!!!!

  • Elbow restores my faith in the music industry. At least somewhere out there, there is a band that can write mind-blowing lyrics and add mind-blowing instrumental to make them the most amazing thing ever heard.

  • omg this man's voice! i hate when people try to sing his songs, it's not the same dammit!! mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!

  • This is my themesong to walking alone in the rain.

  • luv it

  • Just heard this band existence today. I'm blown away. Cant stop listening!

  • beautiful song!

  • Oh.. my musical identity.. my pride.. genres.. (the labels the press needs to untangle the way too large pool of ways of music-making)..

I care about them so much. This defines me. I hate it when you call my taste shit, or a band I like shit. I'll go fight you over it. I will need to take a stand, defend my version of events. I must tell others why my version is better- they can either agree or be wrong. I've seen a lot. Know what's best. I know what's best better than you.

    And it matters.

  • @Sidar654231 i like that.

  • @ripplesonablankshore

    It's the only way!

  • one of the best sogs ive ever heard, i love his imagery :)

  • This reminds me of my relationship with a guy when I was at uni - so poignant and true to life

  • I like the part from 0:00 to 4:50

  • I like that mini ending starting around 4:08 ...so calming and sad

    Elbow is so amazing >_>

  • Does anyone know of a good of a good site to get cheap downloads from? I tryed going to gomusic.com but it seems they do not know who elbow is. Allison

  • @etteb84 If you must try Btjunkie its not cheap its free torrenting site so get a bit torrent downloader. Its legal since its in canada apparently... eh?

  • Looks like 7 people accidently missed the like button...

  • I guess we like music that we identify with, but, my situation is a little strange...five years ago, and three thousand miles away from where I am, in May, we WERE sleeping through the day...and I always told him I loved his bones, something I had never heard anyone else say til I went to England. This song gave me chills. Back then, the music was Coldplay, and they were running narratives on what we were doing then, too. VERY WEIRD! but, you gotta love something this strange and cool, huh?

  • The most intelligent lyrics I've heard in rock music for decades.

  • Have been re-visiting this album recently, wonderful to listen to.

  • this guys are great!!!

  • i like 2:32 - 3:05.

how would you order elbow's albumns? I havent listened to them enough to be sure, but so far asleep in the back is my favourite, then seldom seen kid, followed by the other two (cast of thousands, leaders of the free world).

but i havent heard the latter 2 albumns enough to be totally sure of this..

  • the bassline reminds me alot of muse, i like.

  • Anyways I'm a HUGE Muse, Coldplay, Radiohead, Snow Patrol and Sigur Ros fan... (you get the picture XD)

And i think none of them are better than the other... They're all good in different ways.

But I just got introduced to Elbow through Snow Patrol (SP's lead singer cites Elbow as his inspiration)

    AND I"M BLOWN AWAY...

Guess I'll have to include them among the above now... :-)

  • I Have Seen Sigur Ros Live :)

  • @SuperChrislowe jealous lol

  • @5oulPower Loving all of the above!! :) the xx have their charm too. As for Elbow, they've been around for years, it's great to see them back again in such tremendous form!! :)

  • @5oulPower nah radiohead's better :)

  • @gorgolyt

Reminds me of my grandaunt asking me if my (natural scientific) studies are harder than my girlfriend's (cultural scientific). Or if I prefer cherry icecream to sushi or a good conversation to ana..erhm..grams! Argh! Stop comparing..if elbow was a radiohead coverband, a comparision might be eligible..but they are entirely different acts!

  • in that case check out r.e.m and the frey your bound to love then!

  • @scarbzscope yeah I already did actually. And I do love them. :-)

  • @5oulPower

gr8 music taste, love muse coldplay and elbow

  • @5oulPower woow weren't we separated at birth?

  • @5oulPower with you on Muse, Coldplay and Radiohead :)

    Good music taste man.

  • @5oulPower Coldplay are shit

  • @5oulPower Saw them at Reading as main support to Muse. they were perfect

  • @ainsleywalker Me too! Absolutely amazing. Especially as the sun was setting.

  • I agree with HannahsCreation.

Diff ppl fall in love with diff bands.

No matter how hard we try to make others think otherwise, the relative nature of music is ever present...

  • I agree with HannahsCreation, Muse are fantastic!! But i'm really getting into these guys at the moment.

  • What is that tune at the end of this song?

  • Summertime, by George Gershwin written for the 1935 opera Porgy and Bess.

  • @greatdane114 "Summertime, and the living is easy..."

  • A fucking outstanding effort from Elbow

  • Well I like Sigur Ros! I just wanted to join in the big fight thing going on :P

  • pink floyd are the best band of all time in my opinion, i like elbows sound though, muse are ok, coldplay are good as well, pendulum are banging see them at a club.

  • It is impossible to determine the best band of all time, but it doesnt stop us all from trying. :) No matter how much we complain, most of us find a band/artist that we fall in love with and cannot help but think 'This is the best thing Ive ever listened to'. Its human nature. ^_^

For example, my 'best band of all time' is Muse. But Elbow, Pendulum and Coldplay come close in the ranks.

  • Coldplay and Pendulum best bands in the world? You must be joking, Pendulum are a poor man's Prodigy, if that. Coldplay just don't compare to the likes of Arcade Fire and TV on the radio

Muse and Elbow are trully great bands though

  • Yay for Muse :D

Pendulum and Coldplay are by no means varied in their music but what they do create catches my ears, and since I have at least 6 Coldplay songs on my iPod and about 12 of Pendulum's, Im going to have to say they must be pretty high in my ranking of fave bands. I dont have any of Pendulum's albums though. xD

My family have Prodigy, but its not quite as good as it was in the early days, and Ive only ran through the Arcade Fire album once.

  • @oneminutetomidknight You can't compare Pendulum and Elbow, They are on completely opposite genres, Pendulum is a great Drum and Bass group, Elbow is a brilliant Alternative band, and Prodigy is a piece of shit. End of story.

  • @argeque prodigy a piece of shit? I guess you never seen them live...absolutely amazing

  • @argeque Prodigy may be shit today but you're obviously not old enough to appreciate they were once commercial dance music pioneers. Your loss.

  • You're offended by my comment? If so, feel free to elaborate, I don't mind. :) Im a female by the way, so I guess 'bitch' is a better term than 'dickhead' could ever be.

  • there are no girls on the internet

  • Discovered Elbow at the NC Coldplay concert. Absolutely excellent! Elbow and Coldplay are the ultimate band combination!!!!!!!!!!

  • ohh really dont know about Coldplay!!!! I would go more Elbow and Alice in Chains

  • coldplay suck

    elbow are awesome though

  • I strongly disagree. Saying that Coldplay is the number one band, hell, saying that any band is the number one band of all time, is improperly justified unless you understand every band's style ever. This includes indie bands and local bands.

  • I agree with you to a point. My personal favorite band is Coldplay and I think that Coldplay and Elbow are number 1

  • Yup. The guy speaks the truth, there can never really be a single most greatest band in the history of ever.

Just like Donuts, there can never really be a greatest donut... 'cuz when you eat them they all turn to shit you poop anyway.

    Just saying.

  • Call me stupid, but I honestly completely missed the point you made by saying that.

  • Neither did I... I just somehow had the urge to insert some pointlessly random analogy into my comment...

Meh. Best if you disregard that second sentence.

  • Number one band of all time? So actually you're saying that Coldplay's better than, for instance, The Beatles?:')

Coldplay's a good band but definitely not the best band of all time. I also think Elbow makes better music than Coldplay does and ever will make.

  • see, if you like the Beatles, thats great, but I for one am not a big Beatles fan.

  • I fully agree with what you say. Beatles best of all time and Coldplay had a few catchy yet cheap songs (not technically constructed to be up there). Elbow have raw talent and a deep penetravtive sounds which in this case shiver 'the bones of you'.

Everyones taste is just different, i mean even JLS have fans! Best to leave it to rest mate!

  • Pretentious prick!

  • coming from someone who has Shakira on thier homepage? dickwart

  • @Traceurb elbow are awesome but saying coldplay suck is just a bit ignorant

  • elbow r just seriously awesome tbh :D

  • In a world where random crap bands that can't sing at all get nominated for awards, better guys who don't rely on autotune and such devices are left in the dust.

    Elbow deserves the praise.

  • @GCLU Agreed

  • @GCLU yep like cheryl cole, jls, cascada, girls aloud, n-dubz, chipmonk. All the crap, talentless people who get awards ect. Terrible !

  • @GCLU

I'd hardly say that Elbow's left in the dust. I mean, the band opened for Coldplay...

  • @ybrik222 Yes but who is opening for them?

  • Comment removed

  • @GCLU STUPID X FACTOR

  • Fell in love with the song first time heard it in the radio - 7 AM and the alarm just went off - and this song is on... made my day.

took me another month to find what it was. but recognised it immediately

  • My Dad saw Elbow at Glastunbery, he said that Guy sounds like he does on the CD. Well done Guy Garvy, you are amazing.

  • Comment removed

  • elbow are awesome. totally surreal.

  • my faverouite bit is 2:42...its like a release of tention..

  • cough* orgasm cough****

  • If elbow could get with damian marley and compare how he gets his messages across to his people, imagine the messages elbow could get across to our British society that could impact on our younger generations and their actions in this crazy world. I love elbow.

  • i love elbow i dont know why its just really nice and soothing i normally listen to much louder bands like bring me the horizon but i find elbow so calm

  • excellent album

  • ...the tenticles stretch...

We all can relate. Not even sure why i'm commenting, the song says it all. 3:13 onwards

  • there's "Summertime" at the end

    i love that

  • this song is so great i love it!!

    i love elbow

  • great :)

  • The seldom seen kid is one of the best albums ive heard in 30 years of listening to music. The bones of you, for me, is the best song on it. ABSOLUTELY SUBLIME.

  • just discoverd how good elbow are! awesome!!

  • amazing tune, and ablum for that matter

  • cool

  • These are amazing live.

  • Anyone Know The Name Of The Jazz At The End????

Or You Know Anything Similar, I Love That Bit!

  • Sounds like Summertime to me...

You know the one that goes:

"Summertime, when the living is easy, fish are jumping, and the cotton is high..."

  • That is correct. It's "Summertime".

  • Summertime by who?????

  • The creator is George Gershwin and the song orginates from the opera "Porgy and Bess".

  • These songs are putting me to sleep.

    ..

  • melancholy

  • The ending just blows me away. Utterly.

  • it's melodically perfect, beautiful harmonies, and a quite different quitar strumming. And the bass. It's just f*cking good. Period. I was looking for new music to listen to and I found this album.

    I don't regret my search...

  • I blew the speakers on our work vehicle listening to this live at the BBC last night,

  • I love this song so much, but the bass sure is distracting when you're trying to write.

  • The only band me and my mother both like

  • god, so great....

  • <3

    I fucking love this song!

  • after hearing these guys, there's only one place I can go:

HMV with a tenner to buy this bloody album!

  • my dad did the same thing today

    :D

  • ive only just discovered the really really amazing band(unfortunatly)

fuckin hell what a brilliant song!!!!!!!!!!!

definatly on me way to get their albums.

the loneliness of a tower crane driver is amazing to.

  • Goddamnit this bass goes straight to my head, like that fist cigarette XD

Great melody, voice, bass, rhythm, lyrics,

1 of the best songs of the new millennium if you ask me :p

  • *first

  • dreamy
