  • Again, if you preflight check and can already self launch from beach, this should be ok, all lines should be "down wind of you at all times, this is not for beginners. Also doing this with someone who is familar or an instructor would be even better. I put this here because to many people were getting hurt launching from the beach.

  • i launch this way everytime at my home spot, not a good beach, trees n way too rocky. jus with this way make sure the lines are CLEAR and not around you. common sense are worth a lot these days...

  • How do you land the kite when you've finished?

  • So kurt with on shore winds you would prefer a hot launch to the beach?

This is not something for anyone who can already launchand land there kite.

Have been teaching people to drift launch kites for a very long time.

This was adapted becuase of launches that have no room, rocks, or hazards.

If you see this vidoe and dont understand it , i would advise not to do it.

    Either way be safe!

  • hey, drift launches are a no no at any skill level in my opinion. Whenever you have slack kite lines and parts of you body near by there is always a possibility for an accident. As the kite drifts away from you the lines become tensioned, kites can be unpredictable. If it hot launches(launching in the middle of the window straight downwind) it will pull very hard. If part of your body is in the lines that's bad news.

  • to all you newbies. DO NOT DO THIS! This is how people loose fingers, toes, ect.

  • How do you loose fingers etc using this method? I'm new to the sport

  • High tension lines.

  • No it wont!!! Need to do another way as c kites dont have the depower.

  • will this work the same way with a fifth line c kite?

  • for the 5th line kite, just release onto 5th before launching. start at the kite, flip it over into the position you normally carry it in. then keep tension on only the 5th line and walk it all the way back to its end. attach your leash. walk the kite on 5th line into the water. it should float on over. then just relaunch how you normally would.

make sure you dont tangle your lines and if you aren't confident, dont even try it. also, don't try it in high wind.
