    no no thank,,,

i dont like this cobalt car,,,

1 - no have 2 amber yellow lights on the taillights,,,

2 - wrong design gas in hole on the right passage side

  • Anybody else waiting for dramatic chipmunk to show up?

  • it not slow ass is faster than what u got

  • "slowbalt super suckey" - the words of a genius

  • @LandonKijowski i think you own a honda

  • @MRjustin8990 not exactly

  • thats funny becasue my old one had over 70k miles on it and i never had a prob with it. and my new one has 37k miles bitch

  • una pregunta este no saben si va a llegar a mexico?

  • Civics get a lot of chances to have a look at those nice round tail lights. Suck it you dirty ricers.

  • Can someone help me out I'm highly confused, I like the cobalt ss but I thought the ss was turbo? Correct me if I'm wrong because I'm seeing turbos and supercharger? I'm confused someone help me.

  • For 2008 it's turboed. but in the past it was supercharged.

  • A supercharger is an air compressor used for forced induction of a combustion engine.

Superchargers are powered mechanically by a belt, gear, shaft, or chain connected to the engine's crankshaft.

A turbocharger is a gas compressor used for forced induction of an engine. The purpose of a turbocharger is to increase the density of air entering the engine to create more power.

A turbocharger differs in that the compressor is powered by a turbine driven by the engine's own exhaust gases.

  • Besides you don't need to install anything to be making 276whp and 306wtq, all you need is a tune. But really the cobalt's interior isn't that bad, its actually kind of interesting, and it comes with a better sound system than the ms3 gt package. If you want bank for buck, good fuel economy, God-like handling, and huge hp numbers from very little money, then get the cobalt ss. It is a superior car!

  • really the only reason that you should get an ms3 if you are a car enthusiast, is for gps, and a nicer interior. Clearly this thing can handle, even better than an ms3. As far as 0-60 times go, I have seen a 0-60: 5.5 and 1/4mile: 13.9 presented by motortrend. Also the potential of the ss is much better than the ms3. While there isn't very much aftermarket support for it yet, it is still making huge hp numbers from the parts that are already out.

  • The cobalt also isn't limited in 1st and 2nd gear like the ms3 is, the ms3 doesn't have full boost in 1st and 2nd, which means that it isn't living up to its full potential. You also can't fix it because it is the torque management system. The ms3 also doesn't come with such performance features like no-lift shift, or the launch control like the ss has. The ms3 also doesn't get 22city/30hwy gas mileage.

  • First of all I love the ms3, but honestly, the cobalt ss is much more of a bang for buck buy, car and driver got it to beat an evo X in their lightning lap feature, and motortrend recorded that the ss was only .038 sec behind the evo X.

  • The 2008 Chevy Cobalt SS Turbo has the most power of any american made 4 cylinder & more power than many american made 6 cylinders too.

  • Sad that with a Turbo it only makes 20 HP more then an S2000 huh?

  • why is that sad? are you saying GM couldn't develop a 250 HP 4 cylinder motor? No that would be ridiculous, its what is cost effective for the company and it just wouldnt make sense for them to do it.

  • "why is that sad?"

Sad from an engineering perspective. From an economical perspective this is the most power one can buy for under $25,000 new.

    "No that would be ridiculous"

Matter of opinion, an N/A setup is without a doubt more expensive.

  • What doesn't make much sense for Chevy is targeting the tuner crowd, and not allowing the factory warranty to stay in effect once stages have been applied to the vehicle (which was allowed for the Supercharged version) I realize this is the equivalent to a Stage 3 S/C Cobalt, but the market segment this is targeting is really getting screwed. However, Chevrolet without a doubt sells the most amount of power for the money around both with the SS Cobalt & the Corvette!

  • what's even more sad is that subaru's wrx starts at 25k, with 225hp.

  • Ya, I've never actually looked at the stats behind the WRX cause everyone has one where I live, but that HP rating doesn't usually stay there for long, a simple boost controller takes it all the way to? 260-280?

  • depends on the car. and ya, a lot of kids drive them around where i live also. wrx's are way old news.

  • Honoestly, this car will probably be the best car to tune, but I think you what buy is really what you like, I went with the 2004 S2000. It has looks and a semi exotic sound. Probably the toughest car to make more power on since the 4 cyl. is pushing 240 stock.

  • the Cobalt engine is smaller (2.0L)

  • Smaller then the WRX? That would depend on year. The newer versions came with a 2.5, while earlier versions had a 2.0, however I don't ever recall engine size being debated here, just output and acceleration times.

  • caliber srt4 has 285 hp 08 ss/tc has 260 hp, but the quarter mile times varies due to traction control and wheel spin

  • Caliber SRT4

    1/4 mile = 14.6 seconds(autoblog)

    0-60 = 6.2 seconds(edmunds)

    Cobalt SS/TC

    1/4 mile = 14.0 seconds (Road&track)

    0-60 = 5.7 seconds(motortrend)

  • yea caliber srt4 is more power but the cobalt is a tiny bit faster. my srt was faster than both when was stock

  • ya, the neon srt4 2005 model was quicker than the CSRT4 and the 08 Cobalt SS.

  • no, the neon srt-4 is not quicker than the 08 cobalt ss/tc. Let me give you some numbers.

    SRT-4:230hp 250tq, 2900lbs

    08 Cobalt ss:260hp 260tq, 2975lbs

not to mention the cobalt ss also has the launch control system and the no-lift shift feature. The 05 neon srt-4 is not quicker than the new cobalt ss turbocharged. the cobalt has a better power to weight ratio, it is simple physics.

  • correction the 05 neon srt-4 weighs 2970lbs, even better

  • bull shit no its not it has less hp and the same weight. ever heard of power to weight ratio?

    05 neon

    Power: 172 kW , 230 HP SAE @ 5,300 rpm; 250 ft lb , 339 Nm @ 2,200 rpm

    2970 lbs

    cobalt Power: 194 kW , 260 HP SAE @ 5,300 rpm; 260 ft lb , 353 Nm @ 2,000 rpm

2871 lbs so how is it faster?

  • ok u guys know nothing about 4 cylinder cars. Cobalt, civic, evo, SRT4, STI, they can all be fast cars on a drag. Its not up to the car manufacturer to make a fast drag car, its up to the after market companies.

Chevy has a book that tells u how to get a cobalt up to 1000 HP on street legal parts, any car can do it depending on the after market companies. Beating another car in a drag doesnt make ur car model is better, just means u have put more money into it.

  • Either way you look at it Honda civic Chevy cobalt. They both suck if your looking for a fast car. The Civic was meant for good gas mileage at least it has that going for it, the cobalt is just a Cavalier trying to be a tuner car. It is not fast it is ugly and tuner cars are lame.

  • looks like a wanna be Civic, ugly POS

  • yea except this thing is faster then any civic

  • lmao too bad its faster than any of the civics by a few seconds, and the civic is the ugly pos

  • LMAO to bad the goal of this car and many other American cars now is to try to imitate Japanese style. I wouldn't care if this car was 10 seconds faster because it would be embarrassing to drive, Pontiac is another shitty car. The only good American made car is Cadillac the rest are trash. If you want a well made gasoline powered car you need to buy German made or Japanese. If general motors was smart they would stop trying to imitate and develop and electric powered sports car.

  • So continue to drive Chevy Cobalts and Pontiacs if you wish to project the image of 16 year old girl with no sense of style.

  • mazda speeds are chicks cars stupid!! may have some power but looks gay

  • umm... this is a chevy cobalt? not a mazda.

  • Umm, your an IDIOT, I have a 2007 Cobalt LT, not an SS Turbocharged, not even an SS, and I still beat a Mazdaspeed3 lol.

  • sure you did... So I guess your cobalt is faster than srt4's and 350z's and g35's because on you tube the mazdaspeed3 beats them. Lets see, your 145hp cobalt compared to my 260hp mazdaspeed3. LOL, and that was when I was stock.

  • You guys are seriously immature. I'm assuming you guys are all over 21 to be able to rent a car. That's kinda sad that you have nothing better or worthwhile to do (like a JOB!? (No, being retards on youtube won't cut it ;) ). Some day a rental company will fine you, and then you'll be sol. Have fun doing nothing in your lives ;) .

  • It's a turbo this time not Supercharged

  • i thought they stopped making the ss thats what the dealer told me...

  • Your dealer is a dumbass, don't buy from him.

  • acutally in 08' they didnt make the SS, its called Sport....

  • This is an engineering atrocity according to Consumer reports magazine. The most problematic vehicle they have ever reviewed. Also revied as the least satisfying vehicle by customer reports. 248 predicited problems per unit vs civics 7....hahahaha. Enjoooooy shit peice of shit.

  • 30,000 miles.. Driven mine hard.. No problems. Love it. Blah blah blah Consumer reports. I'd rather have problems than be slow.. I've never lost to a civic in the 2.0L class. not even close.. I'm sure they are reliable and there are some fast ones.. but none at my track. And I know 3 other owners of SS/SC's that have never had a problem.. Real work experience > Consumer Reports

  • u sure ....u talkin about the aveo really.

  • really i had two with no problembs...except my newer one the tumblers in my ignition clyinder fucked up and i couldnt start it...but then again that happened to my step dads is 300. guess thats a peice of shit too right?

  • wow 73k thats impressive and u bought another i quess people like u might save the company

  • i got ran off the road and hit a sign at 70 mph so my old one was totaled. so i got a new one =]

  • nice i bet that looks good

  • ... this car is so boring, you can put a turbo into that car, but its still a cobalt.

  • I'll take you in for a ride in my 18psi boosted ss/sc and show you boring. Beating the overwhelming majority of street cars at the track with a 2.0L Cobalt is pretty entertaining to me.

  • or I can take you for a ride in my 17 psi meth/water injected mazdaspeed3, with a list of other mods, making sti's and evos look dumb ;)

  • or I can take both you for a ride in my blown 3.8L buick making all you little 4 bangers look dumb. bwahahahhhahaha I love this game.

  • lol, blow it all you want, but unless you are pushing 450+ hp to the wheels, don't be talking ;) fun game, love it too, cause I win.

  • hp doesn't win races. neither does a boost number equate to power. 18psi means diff things on different engines. fwiw

  • yes, I know, my standback, forward ignition timing, my boostingto 17 psi with meth injection is what gives me my power, turbos love that meth... ;)

  • I wasn't aware this is a game? Why is it a game.. Performance is good in all ways.. I used to be a single minded motor head. As long as your car give you goosebumps its doing its job.. If this is a game lets take a ride in my 383 procharged WS6.. 9.90 quarter.. But I try not to make it a pissing contest. Just have fun.. Christ.

  • tight. 18 psi huh? thats sick!

  • i have a 2.4 cobalt sport basically same thing without the supercharger and minor differences

  • i didnt know they still made the cobalt ss?!?!

  • They've discontinued the SUPERCHARGED ss, the new turbocharged ss is coming out in a few months! : )

  • xD lol im a junior and i have an black 2007 Cobalt SS

  • im a jr and i have a 2008 350z :)

    i win

  • lol

  • yeah,he does

  • wow!!!!

  • It's just mostly highschoolers who are only into car looks, but end up fucking up the car by ricing it out big time.

    typical highschooler mindset =

"Man that car looks baller, I bet if I put some ugly ass vynils that i think look good on it, and a big ass fartcan on the back of it and paint the STOCK rims black, it will go like fucking 200mph yo!"

  • Hey man I'm a high school senior! And I have a silver 2006 ss/sc and I haven't wrecked!!! I have a lot tickets though!! :( I have had it almost two years! So not every highschool kid fucks it up!!!!

  • people people... the Cobalt SS supercharged.. i Own one... is a very fun ride.. but this one the 2008 is not supercharged... it's Turbo.. 260hp 260 ft/lb.. so all you Civic fans... :p

  • actually i own one too, and i work for chevy and i yet to see the turbocharged, the supppercharged has been pulled from production, but the turbocharged isn't out and i am not sure if it will, but i have seen some cobalt special edditions, which are besically ls's with strips, and my limited coblt, but no turbocharged, believe me i will drive that befor it hits the streets (if it ever do)

  • well it has been confirmed from GM i have a friend that works for a GM plant in Ontario, so the release will be first or second quarter of 2008 and will be taking orders in first quarter. that is what i have heard, but yes it was confirmed.

  • I thought the 2008 turbo Cobalt SS was going to be 240hp?

  • nope 260 hp 260 ft/lb

  • Looks like it will be a fun car! I am most impressed by the Torque figure, for a 4 banger... I'm still debating if my S2000 would be more fun

  • S2000;

    0-60 = 6 seconds

    240hp

    2008 Cobalt SS;

    0-60 = 5.6 seconds(approx)

    260hp

    Cobalt SS > S2000

  • S2000;

    0-60 = 5.5 Seconds Personal Drag time* 14.0 1/4 mile 5.7 ModernRacer 5.6 seconds Automobile Mag.

engineering pov, 240 Hp N/A vs 260hp Turbo? Honda's Vtec motors have GM beat hands down, I suppose thats why most people that purchase the Ariel Atom get the Civic Si motor instead of the Ecotec? The final and probably most obvious flaw in the 260 vs 240hp reasoning is that crank HP means nothing. Bhp is everything

  • WHO CARES, the Cobalt SS is going to be quicker than a S2000, plus it is going to be 11-$12,000 less with more HP. Sorry but when you go to buy an S2000, you are just buying something that is more unique, than worth it. Fuck the S2000, I'd much rather go for a 350z for 8k cheaper, which is better around the track AND in a straight line + torque.

  • 350Z & S2000 are almost identical on the track. I love how you insist it will be quicker even though almost all documentation shows the S2000 is faster. BTW whats the BHP? crank hp doesn't mean anything

  • Maybe this will help....HELLOOOOO, "brake horsepower" and "crank horsepower" are the same thing, the measurement of horsepower without parasitic losses. You were incredibly redundant. As for "wheel" horsepower, your average stock S2000 puts out around 190-195. I've raced against Cobalt SSes (the old, supercharged, "205bhp" versions) in SCCA Touring 3 class racing, and I can tell you this much, even the old motor was underrated.

  • my point? = Raodster 350 is heavy and slow and comparing a coupe to the s2000 isn't fair, you might as well compare it to a CCX...

  • I've also seen Pontiac Solstice GXPs (same 260hp Ecotec motor as the new SS), running in Touring 2, keep up with Evo's and STi's - running the Touring-allowed ECU and exhaust modifications. Your point was invalid given you were calling out the wrong thing, but especially when you consider wheel horsepower (which is what you meant) the Cobalt SS has an advantage. (directed at redbaron520)

  • If were just going to talk cobalt... The current version doesn't get its power to the ground very well, nothing is going to change unless a wider tire is implemented... and i wasn't making a point w/ whp and crank hp i just wanted to know what it was for the Z...

  • I like how you didn't mention the 300ZX TT either... cheaper than all these cars, and the fastest production Z yet... I think you should get your facts straight before you reply, I already had to make you look bad once

  • Make me look bad, like I care? This is YouTube. The S2000 is almost close to the 350z, but in an overall package the 350z is better and cheaper. All an S2000 reminds me of is a hooked up Miata, it's ugly to me.

  • The S2000 was on Car and Driver's Ten Best list for 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2004. Highest Ranked car by JD power and associates 04' 06.

The F20C was featured on Ward's 10 Best Engines list for 2000 and 2001.

Best Affordable Sports Car for 2008, U.S. News & World Report

    TOP GEAR voted #1 CAR!

  • Sorry your wrong... Top gear said their 2 best cars were the Ford Focus St, and some subaru

  • Please "()" me before you say I'm wrong from something posted four months ago. I'm a fan of top gear though, thanks for watching too. BTW Top Gears car of the Year changes from season to season. When the S200 was compared to the Porsche Boxter and Mazda Miata, it did win unanimously in one catagory, fastest production top ever produced, and S2000>350Z roadster, as also mentioned on Top Gear

  • "the 2 best cars".. i'm talking about the most powerful.

and that focus has only 140HP and subaru isnt american

  • These "205bhp" cars often dyno above 200 to the wheel (look around, there's a ton of videos on youtube documenting this), I've seen an Ion Redline Touring 3 car with the same, older supercharged Ecotec, that had nothing but an ECU modification and a cat-back exhaust (as mandated by Touring class rules) outrun an F22 S2000.

  • ECU and exhaust are huge modifications when forced induction are involved, the point is null because a vehicle with modification isn't stock

  • When your wrong, your wrong, just admit it... i get it though, your mentality is simply"Man that car looks baller, I bet if I put some ugly ass vynils that i think look good on it, and a big ass fartcan on the back of it and paint the STOCK rims black, it will go like fucking 200mph yo!"..... right?

  • Oh for your information the *350Z Roadster* does 0-60 in 5.8 seconds and MSRP is $40,000. so its slower... and more expensive...and heavier, at least compare roadsters to roadsters.... do your research next time eh??? and whats a hooked up miata never heard the term "hooked up" before describing cars atleast

  • No the Baseline model starts around $28,000, in America atleast. And the line that you quoted me on in your paragraph above, I'm not sure if you were emplying that that's how I like cars to look, it isn't, I was saying that I hate it when people do that to cars that have no power to it.

  • As for the civic si being the biggest POS.. Trying driving a NEw civic si and a cobalt ss supercharged back to back. After this you will realise what is the biggest POS. I done this and it was the cabalt ss which felt like shyt in comparision. I'm not the only one who feels like this.

  • I'm so glad Chevy stopped using that weak ass supercharger. Can't wait to see you guys on the street!

  • What's the big deal? I'm not impressed. Probably better than the last one but that's not saying much.

  • better and faster than you sedan.. civics are probably the biggest pose out there after the tiburon v6 gt... wait a minute, maybe its the other way the tiburon is the biggest pose out there after the civic SI,, haha rice, rice!

  • I don't own a civic si smart guy! I own a 08 Mazdaspeed3. However, the cobalt ss isn't as nice as the civic si either! I drove a 07 cobalt ss I wasn't impressed at all. I've also owned a 07 civic si sedan before I tradded it in for the MS3. The cobablt didn't impress me at all.

  • so you stayed with the wagon.. big deal.. and if the cobalt didnt inpres you at all .. maybe is wasnt the supercharged.. since i drove one back in 06 when i was 19, i was impresed, alot more power than the civic si, quieter and more comfortable than the srt4 and better looks than the ms3, stage 2 gives you the power the ms3 has, and you keep the sporty looks.. haha.. for some time i wanned to buy the ms3,i look ant different pictures of it, and i just cant find anithing attractive about it

  • I drove the supercharged one and wasn't impressed. As far as looks for the MS3 a lot of ppl don't like Hatchbacks period in US. However, a lot of ppl do and some don't and still buy it because they aren't so concerned about what other ppl think. It's the performance that counts more for a lot of ppl.

  • People who buy cars purely on looks instead of performance, are the biggest puss bags.

  • I agree!

  • This is why its a big deal.

Cobalt SS Turbocharged from 0 to 60 in a scant 5.7 seconds. In fact, GM set a Nürburgring class record for FWD sport compacts with the turbo Cobalt, lapping the Green Hell in 8:22.85.

  • Those are just numbers I'm sure everything else will suck as does chevy in general.

  • This is why its a big deal.

Cobalt SS Turbocharged from 0 to 60 in a scant 5.7 seconds. In fact, GM set a Nürburgring class record for FWD sport compacts with the turbo Cobalt, lapping the Green Hell in 8:22.85.

  • Mazdaspeed 3 does 0 to 60 in 5.4 .. The time it did the Nurburgring some tool with no experience driven the Mazdaspeed 3 nor the ring drove it so go figure.. Soon another attempt will be made and I'm certain it will be faster than 8:22

  • I´m waiting for the New 2008 Dodge Challenger. HEMI of course! (MOPAR)

  • This car looks like a Jap Car...What happened with the American Muscle Cars???

  • C6 Z06, Viper ACR, Roush 427, Cobra,

    Supercars

    Mosler MT900, Saleen S7, Vector W8

    Not good enough?

2009 Camaro, 2009/10 Challenger, Common? They doing htis cars to dominate and take market off hondas and that they doing well by showing performance.

  • What is your point? There are cars out there much better!

  • much better? there is no better than Mosler MT900

  • first of all i love chevy so get your head out your ass!!!!!!!...ok...need a tampon, ZISSU1 ?...all im saying is that i hope for the love of God they dont follow the same road to fuckness just like Ford did....read a paper or watch the news...see if im kidding!!!!

  • they why are you bitching.. compare the cavalier to the cobalt.. a huge difference. chevy is doing everything perfect, except they still use cheaper material on the inside of the car.. ford and chevy are too different to compare. go seat inside the new malibu.

  • Good to see that the 'Balt SS continues to rule into the '08 model year.

So Honda's and Acura's, don't put away your tissues just yet.

The 05-07 SS/SC's whupped your buts, and now the turbo version is gonna embarrass you even that much more ...

  • for the 2008 models is it still Supercharged or Turbocharged?

to be honest i'm not a great fan of US compact street cars such as this one but that doesn't mean I do not appreciate Chevy's efforts to get into this type of category.

does anyone know what the engine block puts out for HP without the super/turbo charger?

because a 2.0 liter making 260 is pretty impressive but i need to know how much the actual engine without the super/turbo charger puts out before i'm really impressed.

  • Actually is originally Ecotec engined invintem in europe by Opel/Saab. Same one was used in Astra OPC

  • any clips of the engine?

  • all i got to say is this...."same shit, different year" just like the Ford Fuck-us

  • your stupid,, and really gay, i had not hear someone mention a focus in a long long time.. haha i wonder, maybe you got your ass beat by one. this cobalt is the real deal.. i wana see what you ricers are gona try and put up agains it.. just do me a favor and go order a louder fartcan for your matchbox

  • What a piece, I'm tired of all these crappy budget 'performance' cars.

  • whats wrong with 0-60 in 5.7 sec? see link

  • man GM sux so bad, they have the potential but just dont use it,they need to hire younger ppl to show them how to make a car,i mean he 2008 ss,is the same damn thing, different wheels and a gay spoiler,im ashamed...all i can say is GO HONDA,AND ACURA...

  • Haha i laugh at this, its a Better engine also dude, this cobalt has a 2.0 260hp 260tq LNF engine in it. same as the Sky Redline. Honda doesnt make anything but torque-less wonders but they are much for reliable haha

  • maybe your forgeting about the new 08 accord,or the acura tl or tsx,i mean its great to have a fast gm,until it falls apart and you have no warranty,gm is shit, and is no competition to the japs...id love to drive an amaerican car thats better than the japs but that is as rare as seeing palm tree in alaska...

  • the Tl and the tsx,, are both family cars.. they both weight too much,, they are The TL is only good if you get the S type but then you end up paying somewhere around 35k without takes and dealer fees. with that money your better off buying a slightly used M3

  • 10k - 15k more for all the cars you named.. You can't compare cars in different classes.. And my SS outruns them all day with nothing more than a $20 pulley and an air intake.. I mean 10 car lengths.. not even close.. Warranty?? 100,000 mile warranty standard..

  • get off the hondas and acuras's nuts bro

  • us cars r liek 2 years behind the japenese :\

  • I love american cars, but wtf is that. No wonder american have lost to Japanease cars if that is what thay try to sell us.

  • Actually the SS is the GM's best line of defense against Japanese cars.. This outruns any of them in the that price range or class.. Its also faster than nearly all of the stock muscle cars.. So I don't get what you are saying.

  • um, I will put my Mazdaspeed3 up against it, I doubt it will out run me.

  • Too bad it will, seriously it will.

  • um, seriously it wont, it has about the same power ratings as my speed3 and it runs in the 8:20s on the nurburgring with a guy that knows the course, knows the car and was on a closed course. The mazdaspeed3 ran in the 8:30s with car and motorcycle traffic and a new to the car and course driver.

  • Cobalt has a smaller engine than the MS3

  • nice car not my type a bit boxy but i like the new audi rx8 i think that my style lol

  • cool

  • uh, what a beaty! :)
