He told me when he asked a police officer how many people were at the protest and he said it was estimated at 2 million by 2pm. I don't know if it was the biggest protest to date, there were 2 million people for Obama's inauguration as well.

Um, Trentduke, I got my numbers off of Metro's website. Good try though. Why don't you talk to DC's fire department, which said about 70,000? Or Farouk El-Baz, probably the biggest crowd estimation expert in the country when the Capitol grounds are concerned, who said 75,000?

Any reports contrary to this are false. The DC Fire & EMS Department does not estimate crowd sizes.
A Twitter posting estimating the crowd gathering at Lafayette Park only as large, possibly as many as 60 thousand stated that it was an early estimation of that specific area (Lafayette Park), not the number of participants in the event.

I give it about 700,000 on this camera. Who knows what the number was coming in from other streets. After all ou cannot see the mall from this angle.

Even if nobody else came to the March, and we know they did by chartered bus and by carpool, the theory that only 70,000 people were there is off by roughly 335% - debunking the 70,000 claim. A best guess estimate was between 300,000 and 450,00.

He told me when he asked a police officer how many people were at the protest and he said it was estimated at 2 million by 2pm. I don't know if it was the biggest protest to date, there were 2 million people for Obama's inauguration as well.

That argument doesn't necessarily have any merit. First it would depend on where that flag is. If it's not a civic or government flag, or rather under the control of a private citizen or company, well, they may well have chosen to half-mast it. The flag was also half-masted the day before, so if that flag has artificial illumination, it may well have been from the day before. All in all, mighty inconclusive.

The first Saturday after Labor day would be appropriate but you have an excellent point about the storm.
Bottom line is even MSNBC's folks on the ground said they estimated 100s of thousands of folks were there. I was there with my family, easily 400,000 folks there that day.
We left the rally at about 1pm just as the main speakers were starting. Just as many folks were still arriving as were leaving.
When the protest ended it was almost as clean as when it started.
It was a blast!

Both New NZ and Australia were very much in danger of invasion during WWII, what diverted that from happening was the American successes at Midway and Guadalcanal that diverted Japans resources away from that plan. The Fire Department already gave an official number of the crowd on 9/12/09 - between 70 and 80,000. There's no real reason to dispute that.

Any reports contrary to this are false. The DC Fire & EMS Department does not estimate crowd sizes.

A Twitter posting estimating the crowd gathering at Lafayette Park only as large, possibly as many as 60 thousand stated that it was an early estimation of that specific area (Lafayette Park), not the number of participants in the event.
This statement was from a government website. Sorry statists, your 70k crowd attendance has officially been debunked.

You're welcome. I've been using ixquick for at least four months and love it. If you click settings on the main page you can select the settings according to your taste. The setting page w/also answer any/all questions you have & show you how to do expert research. It's great! Pass it on to your friends and family. I forgot, they changed the name recently to startpage (dot) com, although ixquick still works, too. "Start Page" is just easier to remember. Glad you like it.

This video clip is only less than a 1/2 hour long. It does not cover a four hour span. If you match play and fast forward it for a half hour it will cover a 50 second span. Which means we would have to believe that 1 or 1.4 million pass this section of the street in less than a half hour. Never happened. DC fire department put the number at 60 -70,000. I believe them.

You should check out the Heritage Foundation article and its comments. He made a few cherry-picking errors and there's been some really good, and civil debate. The end result is that the Metro ridership shows about 40,000 extra people on 9-12.
