I like the drag strips where people who live in the area come to have fun drink beer and race some cars. Not a professional strip where you cant stand near the cars, where i go i can stand right next to the cars when their doing their burnouts and watch them take off the line. Why dont you race to have fun instead of being dictated by a large drag strip.

I don't know what "huge professional drag strips" you are going to but I highly suggest visiting Bandimere near Denver, AKA Thunder Mountain. I've watched top fuel burnouts and launches from the deck over the left lane, at around 30 feet directly behind the start line. There is a concession stand/viewing area where you can buy a beer and then try to hold onto it when the nitro cars roar past at the 600 foot mark.

You can visit the midway, where they sell beer, and stand about 10 feet from the nitro cars warming up, that is if you can stand the fumes and noise. When you walk from the east to west sides of the track, you walk directly across the staging lanes, with nitro cars, and pro-stocks, and super stocks, bikes, everything rolling by!

I had front row seats in the main grandstand last year around half track, when the nitro cars went by, you could feel your internal organs vibrating.
