we installed a 6 colour xl with aqueous at my firm. It runs really well. only thing is, it replaced 2 machines costing 10 jobs. We have to much work, but can't employ anyone new because of the redunancies. I run a 6 colour cd74 plus coater.
i have ran both komori & heidelberg including XL & 2004 lithrone but now im production manager at a envelope printing company and they have these little presses called HALM Jets they are simple and old but can run envelopes at 40 - 50k with no problems at all and perfect at the same time
Wow 18 eh! I run an old 102 6 colour + coater. It's got superblues, a bastard for marking!!!! Plus she's got 250 mil. on the clock. I run her flat out at 13000 most though.
beauty press eh ! lol yeah Heidelbergs are the best sheet fed press ,, newest Komori LS 40 P it perfects at 13500 safely lol.. but after being on it for 9 months now I still hate the thing,, it's just to to touchie not like heidlebergs ... 3.5 million canadian 8 colour perfector with coater.. piece of S@#$
the company i work for just bought a heidelberg XL105 when we run stock less than 100gsm the back corner of sheets folds under @ 17000 p/h ???? work that out. the demonstrators just tells me that they are working on it. when we run 74 gsm alpine if we increase speed to more than 15500 p/h the back edge of the sheet just shreds. i am sure it is a reason why venturi transfers are not the answer. c'mon guys when are you going to make a printing machine that dosent need a tradesman to run it
Just wondered if you got this problem sorted, we have a 4 month old xl 105 and we have exactly the same problem, anything under 100g and the back corners start turning under!!!!
@oscarplu i get that on mine and the corners rip aswell, anything about 13'000 iph. we were told to use the paper smoothers on the edge of the sheet and put the venturi blower up to 80. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

it would be nice if heidelberg makes a perfector press of the xl series..

heidelberg are testing the xl series to be perfected right now in europe. It is supposed to be released in 2008

They have them, I'm going to see one perfect 640micron carton board

great press! if only heidelberg would make a perfector out of XL 105 then we'd get a LOT more work done!

the problem is usually caused by the perfector. or inconsistency in the gripper transfer between the cylinders.
