If you want an intelligent argument, start right here. These videos, while being comedic, are educational at heart, teaching the wider public about topics such as smoking, technology and copyrighting laws. If you do not enjoy them, simply do not watch them, and please refrain from making abusive comments about any person in the video or who has commented on the video.
man, if people don't like intellectual property so much and want to stop SOPA or other IP enforcements acts... they should start paying or supporting local content creators that they've enjoyed. Just keep on donating. Then we could have high quality materials que for miles for the public to have them... because the public know how to give thanks.
But currently... there's just a lot of ungrateful pirates roaming around overshadowing people who want to give thanks.
This is the first time I haven't learned anything by watching one of his videos. The Mickey Mouse voice was so hilarious I ended up rofling straight through educational parts!
Drum covers are horrible... I've posted two drum covers, but gotten warnings from them, had to send explanations to Youtube Copyright-stuff explaining why my drum covers should be allowed... The warnings to my videos are now gone, but it's really annoying that you have to quote the basics of "fair-use" on every cover you post.
Interesting but you were wrong on some points....for example even after death + 70 years you still have to attribute the original source (composer or what ever). Intellectual property is divided in to two parts....the economic right and the right to be named/attributed with you work.....the last mentioned is ever lasting, it's just the economic rights that has an expiration date ;)
same thing with books, at my uni everyone very hush hush makes copies of whole books .. so nerdy me checked the law, it says (mind you in Switzerland) you can copy anything you need for educational purposes so if you need the WHOLE book ...
In the agreement you make with YouTube, you grant them royalty free non-exclusive distribution rights to the video. This means if a TV show wants to show your stuff they don't have to ask you. They can just ask (and pay) YouTube and you wont see a dime of it.
Not strictly true, unless the legal copy deprived this right of the users, because when you make a video you can turn off syndication, which will make it impossible to be shown on mobiles or on TV.
only thing is that no one care about copyrights.

But sometimes copyright organisations go way overboard (i mean WAY too much).
For example such german organisation called GEMA (i call it GEMArhoid)
blocks all the private music from other countries.
Stuff from talented youtubers that just happen to be non-germans (nazis back?)
And it is not even a property of umg, wmg, sme or other shitcorp.
GEMArhoid even blocked some of mysteryguitarman, daveyboys and destorm videos.
What a morons really -.-'

A pretty nice video, but how come it is not licensed under a free license? The (c) at the end of it is, how should I put it... very hypocritical?

@ProkonsulPiotr
He was explaining copyright.
Not saying people shouldn't avail themselves of copyright protection.
So he wasn't being hypocritical at all. You were being silly.
