Sadly, there's only one spot that's out of whistle ban territory on this line. It's about twenty miles to the west. I railfan it from time to time and am hoping to head back soon.
The NS unit made me wonder if it was an NS coal train, but then the two BNSF ACe's are thrown into the equation. The BNSF ACe's made me think it was a BNSF coal train.
I have to say it is consider to be a BNSF Conterpart, and should be one. And I think they distributed that NS C40-8W because maybe BNSF didn't want to run them as lead power and probably grabbed one of NS units from their yard.
I'm not too sure. It made for a cool sight, though. It's the second time I've seen an NS on the point of a coal train (on this line). The other time was quite some time ago, though.
