  • GREAT ACTION morgans are the BEST!!!

  • Are they supposed to look like saddlebreds? Or is that original to the breed?

  • It'a all breeding...i used to show em and now it's liek and Extreme Horse Show! Awesome though...still gives em chlls..

  • What a beautiful horse. I think that the way they are shod and genetics has a lot do do with getting high action.

  • Thanks! It has a little to do with shoeing, but mainly breeding, then training. The shoes are fairly light. I would assume that proportionally it would be the same as a human wearing sneakers. This was back in 1997 and regulations were much more strict then. I believe they've allowed for more length and weight on the shoe now, but you do not want them going unnaturally, a judge can spot that a mile away.

  • do you know how to make a horse prance i have a 13 year ols morgan mare but i dont know how to teach her how to prance lol

  • getting some chains for her might help

  • wow he is rly pretty he has a nice park trot and dosent acted up and the whooping. nice comformation too. great packed!

  • OMG it says this is French Market but this was quite a few years back it might not be the same horse but if it is the 1 then i own this horse now. I have a 23 year old Morgan horse named French Market and i think this is him :D

  • These, boys & girls, are what Morgans should be notice that they are not white or palomino in color also notice that they are not "gaited" nor "sports horses". You cannot breed "sport horses" and get the quality of horse you see here. There was a time when white was NOT allowed above the knee and you'll notice these horses comply with the time honored tradition.

  • Figure bred to numerous pacing horses back in his day that went on to be included in the registry. Gaited Morgans have been gaited from the beginning. Of course I'm prejudiced to them as that is what we raise and ride. We also buy outcrops from many lines who did not mean to produce gait but got it anyway. Let me know if you run across them, we'll come and get them see our stallion Silvershoe Colorado Morgan on our website at Missouri Morgans a typey gaited Morgan

  • morgans waddle like ducks?????

  • i have been riding saddel seat for 4 years now and i have been around morgans my whole life.. i showed academy for three years and last year was my first year showing in the ring.. I LOVE it... what is his breeding very pretty horse

  • Thanks for the explanation, good luck in everything

  • is a good horse but not my type, long back is a sure kidney problem,,not kidding.i prefer Arabic

  • Arabians are not very athletic, hence their tendencies to get sore and lame while attempting to do the same thing. But to each his own, and I've had no "kidney problems" with any of my horses. These horses get better treatment than humans do.

  • Plus, this video was accidentally stretched out. I have the same video albeit with less views on my account that is not stretched out.

  • These are modern morgans. Traditional morgans don't have long backs and don't waddle like ducks either. Look into those if you look at morgans. =D

  • Morgans dont have longer backs?! and no affence but i hate this type of riding, imagine how they feel, i used to have a morgan and all i did was work to get him relaxed because he was so tense from doing this, we found his true passion lies in jumping, hes now very successful x

  • they dont look very elegant!!!!

  • Don't post vids on teh public internet if you don't want opinions, Idiot.

  • What a horrible way of riding. I'm sure your horses really appreciate it.

The horses are stunning. Do you use artificial aids to enhance the movement?

  • ??? u dont know anything about saddleseat....so keep ur opinions to urself

  • omg i ride junior exhibitor with my saddleseat morgan if i went to that show this year i would have been in that class!! haha i wish i wenttt!!!

  • These horses are so ugly... Their long backs really bother me.

  • morgans dont have long backs. the cutback saddle allows the rider to sit a little farther back making their backs seem longer.

  • Um...

    no.

  • Morgans dont have long backs!!!

  • Well, actually, Morgan's backs typically are a little bit longer than many breeds, but the cutback saddle does make it appear really long. But as far as ugly...yeah, don't think so.

  • beautiful breed

  • what year was this?

  • Do they sore Morgan't like they do to the Tennesse Walkers and some of thos others gaited horses? That makes me so sad :(

  • No, absolutely not....I've never heard of a Morgan or a Saddlebred being sored.

  • That makes me feel better, cause they move really pretty! Thank you for anwering :)

  • polaris10895: these horses are trianed to pick there feet up that high. it comes naturaly. they even pick up there feet when there in the field.

  • I would LOVE to meet French Market...does he do parties? lol [just kidding]

  • what do you use to get there feet up high?!?!

  • Phenominal.

  • gorgeous horses. and that looks like a great ring to ride in.

  • what year was this flimed in?!

  • thats my other user name thing. i go on this one more often

  • do u work at peeper ranch or something?!

well.. me and my morgan just started riding saddleseat.. i luv it!! he is a U.V.M morgan.. hes adorable!

  • Why would you think I worked at Peeper Ranch?

  • idk ahaha. becuase they have really nice morgans there. and i love ur horse!

  • i ride at peeper ranch!! lol

    what state are you in?

  • lol Vermont.. i watched ur video thing thats why i asked

  • ohh right lol

  • lol ;-)

  • I have a morgan like that!! I show at places like that!!!

  • I'd take a Morgan over a Saddlebred any day absolutely!

  • I love that horses tail! cool vidio!

  • morgans arent given enough credit, i think they are gorgeous

  • Incrediable horse!! why anyone would want to own another breed is beyond me. I have a dressage Morgan and she still has a way to go,but I'll get her there. Awesome Morgan and rider!! We can all hope to look that good!

  • i think people should take a second look at the morgan breed, they seem to be pushed to the side, they make wonderful mounts park or pleasure

  • Some of these comments are rediculous. You are a very good rider and this horse is beautiful. Good job.

  • looks like stirrups were too long

    =p

  • those stirupps were not to long. It is the style of riding,it is called saddleseat. I have a saddleseat horse and it is very fun to ride. He is a morgan also.

  • haha ohh ok about the stirrups thing. ya i ride saddleseat lol ive tried diff things but saddlebreds r my fav =]

  • amazing...i just love the way those horses move. theyre beautiful

  • Fun! I used to show Sport Morgans at the NY Regional and Southern States. Never made it up to New England but went to OKC a couple times for the youth competition. Nice blast down memory lane. I don't ride anymore but I do miss it!

  • Despite all the negative comments you have a beautiful Morgan! I have riddened and shown saddleseat since I was 8 and was trained by Judy Witney Harris. You both look great!

  • The morgan is such an absurd looking breed of horse. And the rider sitting right over the soft part of the back must be very uncomfortable for them as well.

  • If you think it's absurd, I'd like to see what you think isn't...

  • The saddleseat saddle is meant to have extra padding where the rider sits. All saddleseat riders sit to the back of the saddle. It doesn't hurt the horse, otherwise they would all be lame. It's much better than the horse having to haul around a 100 pound western saddle!

  • Also, if you think riding english style is absurd, the mere fact that humans riding horses should be absurd as well. It wasn't what they, or any animal was intended for. But alas, we do...

  • I'm English, and I've certainly never ridden like that in about 12 years of damned good tuition.

And, well, an Irish draft, hanoverian... anything that doesn't stand like those things do.

  • As another poster stated, we sit back on the horses back to free up the shoulder and kneck for them to raise their heads and pick up their front feet in high action. Morgans generally have a very nice curved neck which allows them to have a higher head set and they are althetic enough to keep up the high motion with their legs, sort of rock back on their hind quarters, and give a more elegant show horse look up front.

  • Nice horses for a discipline that doesn't appeal to me...but GAH I can't stand the noisy crowds o_0 *turns sound off*

  • wat een lange paarden lelijk!!

  • I like it. I rode English Equitation and Pleasure for six years. I realy miss it.

  • i live in the same town that show is in!

  • John Lampropoulos looks so young!!

  • hey my horse stable wnet 2 that show 2

  • Enjoyed watching... Thanks for posting.

  • i was there!! awesome job!

  • Nice class too!!! awsome job! Very pretty

  • HAHHAHA i saw john L!! hahah gooffffy

  • is he coaching celab? lol

  • Pretty horse..

I love saddle seat horses, and especially morgans. I ride hunters now, but my heart is always saddle seat morgans.

  • I will be uploading several more videos tomorrow evening. Make sure and check them out. There are going to be more of French Market, Particular Red, On Center Stage, UVM Nappi, OH Inspiration, and Funquest Chiaro. Just got to get with my audo/video guy.

  • God I love a nice Morgan. They always have such style... The horse version of a Jaguar X-type.

  • Nice road trot. Reminds me of a mare we had at Glenn Bouvier's about a dozen years ago.

  • Glenn Bouvier has some nice horses. I remember fondly "Schaparelli." She was one of my favorite horses of the time. I loved it when one year at Oklahoma Glenn Bouvier presented this chestnut park horse, (The Name Escapes me at the moment), but he was sort of an old-timer park horse they brought out of retirement to present at Nationals. That was one of the highlights of my career.

  • oh god....damn...what was it's name. It was a gelding. I took care of Scapp (that's what we called her). She was there right before retirement. (She was a FREAK) I've never seen anything besides a Hackney or Harness pony go that high, and I come from Saddlebreds. He had some lovely lovely horses. Minion was with him then, and had some really nice stock. It wasn't superman, was it? The chestnut? For some reason, that name pops into my mind.

  • No, it wasn't a gelding. It was a stud. I want to say his name started with a "V" but I'm not sure. I don't think the horse was actually in training with Glenn though. I think that he just rode him for the presentation of horses at the show.

  • Was it when he was with Mike Goebig?...I vaguely remember reading about the horse...this was before my time. I remember reading something about him working the horse VERY early in the morning to beat the Louisiana heat. Victorious Command? Viking Command? Thanks a whole lot: this is going to drive me nuts! LOL

  • AAHHHHH!!! I just remembered! It was "Legacy's Viking." Truly amazing horse!!!!

  • THAT'S IT!!!! HOORAY! lol

  • Wow this is a blast from the past. I grew up showing on the NE ciruit. The funny thing is that when I clicked on this video the first person I saw was my trainer standing on the rail. What year is this? For all I know I could have been in this class.

  • 1996.

  • Who is your trainer?

  • John and Sherri Lampropoulos at Northgate Stables

  • Yeah, I think that is John on the rail next to the cameras right?

  • Yup that's him

  • This video isn't as good as the other "French Market at The New England Regional" video. For some reason when I did this one my computer stretched the screen. I hate it when it does that when viewing horses, it makes them look so long and strung out. If you look under my profile you'll find the better New England video. It's the same, just not stretched.

  • Where you at that show, or in the class?

  • I was at the show but in 96 I had a classic pleasure horse and an eq horse. I was in my last year of the 13 & under div.

  • Do you remember my sister, Lori Green who showed a horse named OH Inspiration? She was in the 13 and Under English Pleasure Division and Equitation Division on "Funquest Chiaro."

  • I remember the horse... NICE HORSE.

  • Yeah I remember both of those horses

  • I showed with Peggy Alderman of Salem Farm in Vermont. My name is Philip Green if that helps you remember anything.

  • Both names ring a bell. I was assistant to Glenn in, let's see.....Rose was 3 (my mare) so it would have been 94?

  • i reallly like your horse. whats his name? i ride with judy nason also.

  • My horse's name was French Market. We called him "Max" for short.

  • do any of you guys got to the morgan gold cup in spring field oh. i was driving there this year

  • Was that from 2006? I was there if it was, haha. I show with Judy Nason.

    Congrats on your win. :]

  • Beautiful horse! Well riden too.

I have two 14yo morgan mares and a handsome 11mo morgan colt. All of them have that same movement and way of going if you ask them for it.

Are the shoes on yours heavier than standard (weighted). If so what weight?

    thanks for sharing the vid.

  • They are standard weight for a Morgan English Pleasure horse. If he threw a shoe during the class and it was overweight, we would be disqualified, and embarrassed. I'm not sure what the exact weight is, but he is naturally talented up front. Too bad he isn't so hot in his hock action. Otherwise he'd be a Park Horse.

  • That is what I thought! Its absolutely beautiful.

Congratulations, you two make a great team!

  • I have other videos under my profile name. If you just click on the PhilG380, you'll see French Market at some other shows with me, and the class that I particularly like is of him at the Connecticut Show with my trainer, Peggy Alderman on him.

  • I've never seen such a strange enterpretation of english riding, I live in england and I can assure you none of our riders sit in the middle of the horses back miles behind their horse's center of gravity. And ever heard off the head, knee, heel in a straight line way of sitting? Can tell you guys have been isolated over there for a couple of hundred years. lol x

  • For this particular type of "English" riding we sit on a flat "Saddleseat" saddle and not a "Hunt" saddle. The Saddleseat saddle allows you to sit further back on the horse which allows their front end to have so much motion and causes them to "squat" slightly on their back ends. I have to ask if your horses typically pick up their feet as much as ours do?

  • Certainly, we have some gorgeous cobs who flick their feet about like no-ones buisness. But picking their legs up over here is in the breeding, not the riders position. it looks like your horses are certainly bred to pick up their feet too, rather than your strange positions doing much for them. x

  • You might take a look at some of my other videos of the same horse if you wish. The one from the Connecticut Show is rather good. My trainer is on him in that video. I also have my first World's Championship Win on video. Just look under my profile for the other videos. Have a nice day across the pond!

  • Shall do, your horse is rather gorgeous despite my distaste for your riding style :p x

  • I have ridden "English" style in the USA for 50 years, and with the exception of exhibition classes at events, I have NEVER witnessed this style of riding. Of course I know it exists, but it's by no means the standard. (If you came to see me ride my Morgan, it would probably look just like what you are used to.) The way-back position is also used with gaited horses, as it frees the shoulder, as the other poster said. But, again, that's not what I am used to here in the Northeast.

  • What a glamerous sport. It not only takes a great horse to win an event like that it takes an outstanding rider to pull off such a glamerous show. I gave the video a 5 star rating and I hope to see more videos in the furture! Great job.

    Maintain3081

  • It's nice to see such a beautiful example of a Morgan horse on youtube...congrats, he's gorgeous!!

  • Nice horse! We have a morgan filly out of Stonecroft Trilogy at the farm I work at. I love morgans!
