Hey do you have to bow the slurs with stoccato to make the spicatto slur sound or do you have to slide the bow across the strings for a slight second and stop it then move to the next note all of this being really fast?
@carrottoponcrak if you edit, it's so much easier to not suddenly mess up during the later parts of piece when you dont want to. Play a few measures, stop, play a few measures, stop...replay if mess up...play a few more measures... continue till the end. =D
@timw4653 Naw dude he is so good that he can play Caprice 1 and pull bow hairs. Man... what school did you study at? You must be back in the 2005 style.
This kind of playing is really hard to do and should be taught by a teacher not on yourtube. Hehe. Some bows just don't do this very well. Some bows can do this kind of playing much more easily. That's why many artists carry multiple bows.
The technique is performed by throwing the bown onto the string with the wrist and controlling the natural bounce in effect to in order to make even notes. You can grasp this technique by practicing on one string. Try throwing your bow onto your G string and creating even sixteenth notes out of the bounces. Once you have a handle on this, you can move from the G to the E string. Something to look for to know you have control is the doubling of the first and last strings. (GDAEEADGGDA...)
nice, fantastic way to play this etude. Pauses are too long between sections but it's obviously a work in progress (at an already extremely high level of playing, of course).
0_0 I thought I saw a piece of bow hair hanging from the tip of Yang Liu's bow at around 1:23-1:27. If I am or am not seeing things, there is one thing that I am sure that I had seen - the skill, talent, and virtuosity this violinist has.
This is an excertp from a student of sassmanhoause something like that he has a website that has all kinds of instructional violin videos. He is a teacher at some university i think.
I wish I could cheat like that :)

I appreciate all the angles and close shots--a very generous video to help with an exceedingly difficult piece. Thank you. Excellently played.

not cheating, just editing. without multiple takes you only get to see the peice from one angle

Yes, I watched that, then this. Very different, and I admit I like Shlomo's performance much better.

Ew.. what is this such an ugly sound to a violin.. feels like cracking doors

It is how it should sound. A hundred and fifty years ago this song was written by Paganini and playted by himself. He really astonished his crowd.

Sounds great. I like the way the violin sounds too: it has a nice tone to it - a deep finish so to speak.
MichaelCaracena 4 years ago
Good violins are suppose to sound deeper and richer. Mass produced violins will never sound like that. only hand made.
