Great video (as usual). Have you thought about fitting a speedo on your bonnet/hood, so we can see what speeds you're reaching? I can hold 25mph on the flat on my recumbent with shorter 30mph sprints, and on a steep downhill 40+......but I'm guessing you're going a fair bit quicker?
@PedalPowerPanther I cruise on the flat at about 30mph (45km/h) or so and downhill I can go really fast. The fastest I've been in my Mango is 101km/h (see the Canungra Ride video).
@damhooligan Hi! Fancy seeing you here :) I received the Mango in December 2010 so yes, it's quite new. I've already put almost 4000km on the odometer though!
@damhooligan Yes, it's Dutch. I first learned about them after reading David Hembrow's blog and I was intrigued. I bought one after much research and they just posted in a big box, fully assembled. It's beautifully made.
@tmpttt1 Yes, the new bikeways really are very, very good. The problem is getting to them! People usually drive to them and then take the bike - ridiculous, really... I'm lucky in that I live close to them.
Its stupid, here in Newcastle people want to restrict bikes to rediculously low speeds on our so called bikeway the Fernleigh track. Yet nobody here places any restrictions on car drivers.
@KrunchyJD This is the problem with authorities seeing bicycles as vehicles (like car, trucks, etc). There is little comparison. To me, cycling is more like running quickly...
@nitramluap At least here in Newcastle what annoys me, is that people in general talk about cyclists going too fast on the Fernleigh track, one bloke even wrote into the paper suggesting that cyclists be restricted to 10 km/h, yet in the same article he bitched about how cyclists "forced" him to slow down on the road. If it was just one lone nutter suggesting things like this it wouldnt be a problem, but this general attitude is all over the place. It is like they cannot see the Hypocracy.
@KrunchyJD Dont get me wrong, it is a shared path and when its full of pedestrians and kids it is reasonable to slow down, but some people want some permanant slow speed on the place, but will not apply the same logic to consideration of cyclists on the road.
@KrunchyJD I know what you mean. Speed signs for cyclists are silly. It is easy to cycle at a safe speed depending on how many people are around. Here in Brisbane many cyclists ride though Southbank at breakneck speed, dinging their bells incessantly, as if that is all you need to do... fools.

You should have filmed yourself biting into a mango in your mango! Its a wonderful means of transport. Perhaps the future.
