  • @AGearHead4Life I was afraid of the compression ratio too at the beginning, I did have the heads milled to make myself feel better. I wanted to be around 10-10.5:1. Looking back on it all now, I should have done something cheaper for I could have been at this point sooner :) Which link were you trying to get to work?

  • I wanna see it get sideways

  • Love it

  • damn! Roar like hell dude !! Amazing!! :)

  • excuse me sir, did you bought a special adapter for the R4 ac compresor?, or adapt the OEM?

  • I don't know what the MPG is on the truck yet, still doing body work on the truck before paint.

  • what kind of mpg are you getting?

  • Most parts listed in my build thread at 67-72chevytrucks. com/ vboard/ showthread. php?t=386109&page=1 I keep slowly working on the truck most current work is listed there!

  • @thefrankus I couldnt get that link to go through. got another?

  • MSD 6010 from summit..

  • what MSD ignition kit did you buy?

  • I'd say I have 4500+ in everything the way it is, which of course I got some deals on parts and traded out work on others..

  • about how much would a swap like this cost i want to do it to my 91 but i think i want to keep the factory EFI

  • Knock sensor plugs are installed, no knock sensors under them. Didn't want any dirt making its way through the valley plate, but also wanted the ability to have everything there if I go EFI in the future. Truck is shaping up, been working interior/exterior on it. Recently put in a 14 bolt rearend, had the axles worked to be 5x5 lug pattern.

  • With this Carb conversion did you just leave the ecu/pcm in place to continue to read the knock sensors and oil level indicator and leave the MSD to handle just the ignition. I just thought I saw the knock sensors still in place. Also, if you dont mind, what kinda of budget of you been working with so far? I know the cost involved in good heads and a shortblock, but I was just thinking about doing one myself and was wondering if you managed to save by pulling the L92s out of a yard or anything

  • @WesMoran Wait huh? If the MSD box is controlling the ignition, what good does it do having the ECU read from the knock sensor? It wouldn't even be able to pull timing to control the knock first of all. If anything it's either the MSD box handles the knock as well or you simply don't use the knock sensors at all.

    Or so I think....

  • Sorry for the no comments on this, been too busy!

Alipontiac - no, havent took it to the track or dyno, still a build in process

Chevy23123 - it was an lq4, replaced everything other then the shortblock

71chevellerider - they are schoenfeld headers, they worked great, be sure to get the motor mount kit they have listed

MrRickjames26 - No computer, it is controlled by MSD ignition kit as it is a carb'd engine now.

Kandyce1323 - Carb conversion, all of the plastic along with the EFI removed

  • @thefrankus I'm really curious how well it'll output with that compression ratio. Those L92 heads are like 70 cc or so and then the -7cc from the dished lq4 pistons would equal about 9.5:1. I'm currently building a LQ4 swap. I've built the short block but trying to pick heads now. Those L92 heads flow very well but the combustion chamber is too large unless i go turbo. Id like closer to 11:1. So far I've decided to go with ported 5.3 heads to reach 10.7:1.

  • nice

did you take it to the track or dyno?

  • is this the lq9 or lq4 6.0? how much hp and tq you pushing? and what tranny do u have in it? thanks

  • sounds mean! has fast throttle response. If you dont mind me asking, where did you get your headers from, and how much were they? i need a set for my LS truck swap. Thanks

  • how did you hook up the computer? im trying to put this motor in my 68 bel air thanks

  • where do you get the intake to accept the carb? and how about adjusting computer? i have an 03 and it looks like somebody shit a bunch of plastic under the hood

  • That depends on the year model of the engine you use. This one was out of a 2003, so it was correct for it.

  • i thought the 6.0 needed the msd 6012 due to the 58 tooth reluctor
