Hey, I don't like war, and am in no way a war monger, but he is sadly right. Unfortunately, at least the way it is today, people don't care enough about enlightenment. War pressures and forces people and governments to think differently and adapt, which comes in the form of technology. And yeah, lots of things were created without war, but most leaps were made by either the pressures of war or the threat of war...simple as that.

Hey, I don't like war, and am in no way a war monger, but he is sadly right. Unfortunately, at least the way it is today, people don't care enough about enlightenment. War pressures and forces people and governments to think differently and adapt, which comes in the form of technology. And yeah, lots of things were created without war, but most leaps were made by either the pressures of war or the threat of war...simple as that.

Even if the entire state of California was blown off the map, it would not make any visual dent in the overall population. In fact its quite common that those going to war will have kids before they leave increasing birth rate. This also assumes that the earth cannot sustain the number of people on earth, this is far from true. The whole idea that we don't have the resources is not scientific.

Instead we allow these diseases to fester, continue pumping chemicals and waste into the food supply, and people die. MUCH MUCH faster than any war.
One thing to think about. When people die does your quality of life and supplies get better? Have you ever been to the store and thought "more soldiers should die" when out of stock?

If you for example have the property, toys, cars, food, etc. of a family of 6 in africa, think about if it was more evenly distributed. Some people literally have portions for thousands.. some less fortunate in america still have twice what is needed and feel poor living in a wasteful society. Too much overhead.

I can think of several amazing leaps made without war. Things like the wheel, art, music, etc. Most of the leaps motivated by war are counterproductive like 'spying' 'stealth' 'speed' 'explosive energy' etc. One big factor of why military brings leaps (not war but military) is due to the large amount of funding, unfettered access to resources and ill regard for life.

We went to war to prevent another attack. Not for oil, or even to find WMD's. Bush couldn't have said, "We need to go to prevent another attack." That isn't a concrete enough reason to gain support. But saying, "There are weapons we need to find," THAT can gain support.

Stop watching action flicks. There isn't any larger a population of terrorists there than there are in any other part of the world. Assholes are everywhere. What you've got is a war. One side has a lot of weapons technology and blood money available, the other side doesn't. They use guerrilla tactics because you work with what you have.

Although in reality if you look into it, war is the cause of terrorism in almost every case. Terrorism is low budget war generally waged by smaller armies. i agree a cover is a tribute, but the tribute doesnt have to be terrible. i mean, look at Devo's cover of "Satisfaction" or The Ramones versionof "Let's Dance".both nothing like the original, yet still great. the shitty bands doing the shitty covers just sounds like a "oooh, look at us, were cool, we know who these bands are, all the punk kids will like us now" so saying that its a tribute is bullshit. if you were making a tribute to something, it would be good, this is just a travesty.
