I play AHEAD Sticks, too. The Lars Ulrich Signature Sticks. Get the official AHEAD Grip Tape, then it will work.

Vater stick holder is the way to go. i dont mess with the bad that ties to the floor tom. they also have a cupholder thats pretty cool. they are about $20 and well worth it

You know what's the solution besides practicing (because even if you practice you are not perfect you will always fail at times) is buy a stick holder that you put in your floor tom, put many drum sticks inside so when you drop the stick you quickly get one from the stick holder and if you practice a lot that, people may not even notice. I'm going to do this as soon as possible. Good luck =)

Expensive sticks to have multiple sets of, but i always have spares just incase i lose one during a set, or on occasion even those will break. also... the easton grip works best, if any.
