Good work cops. Seriously all you want is a confrontation with police and get your photos in the newspapers so you can all look like awesome hardcore activists. Fucking homos..
I really dislike these protesters. Don't get me wrong, I utterly support their message, but the protesters are to unintelligent, act to much like English soccer players, and blame the wrong people. The police follow the commands of their superiors. The laws can be changed by the governments. The police have to follow the orders given to them. If you don't like the policies, go to the policy providers and scream your simplistic slogan 'shame' at them.

@kryckeestrooff Right... and those out of court settlements never hurt either ;)
idiot.... The police behaving like that ends up with government out of court settlements which end up costing US the tax payer money... idiot.... That guy who got trampled will get compensation.
@daymyth It's you that is the Idiot mate, he won't get compensated for anything, wakeup stupid!! Insurance companies don't pay out on "civil unrest" cases! Try reading any insurance policy before opening your trap, dumbo!!!

@kryckeestrooff Wow... you certainly sound like an educated individual... So I'm going to take everything you said into consideration. (that was sarcasum btw, see what I did there? Because you actually sound like a "dumbo!!!"
@kryckeestrooff Doing a bit of reading, and I'm fairly certain as I had initially assumed that when settlements occur in the case of police brutality, insurance companies are not paying for it, the payouts are through the funds of the local governments involved and the district attorneys office authorises it. This is definitely the case in the US although I am not 100% sure about the procedure in Australia. Perhaps you could cite some sources rather than just raging.
@badpanda84 Yet even millions don't discourage police brutality it seems. Police need to behave better if they want people to respect them and help them. Australia is alot better than other countries I will admit that. Then again the type of people that the police force attracts aren't exactly the greatest crowd. The police need some form of PR department that tell them how to behave.
@daymyth "Police need to behave better if they want people to respect them and help them"
Police actually do have the respect from most of the people who are not protesting -- in fact the majority of people ( who arent hippies protesting -- actually agree with the police -- those hippies need to leave)
@kryckeestrooff And lets not forget the legal team required for prosecution and defense that is alos a waste of resources. Those police should be demoted and other less expensive ones should be put in thier place....
@daymyth You are an idiot, you expect to go to protests inciting civil unrest, and expect the cops to go around handing out bunches of flowers to the protesters... Wakeup stupid the Revolution of the 60's is dead! Anyone and I do mean Anyone that attends these events, is asking for trouble and those that ask for it, will often find it!

The police should utilize force when required but never excessive force. Police brutality is always bad pr for any city. Just slowly drag people away one by one... done...
"Anyone and I do mean Anyone that attends these events", generalize much? You can't definitively place EVERYONE in a single population.
You were asked to leave, you didnt, they made you. You were breaking the law and they dragged you away. Stop Bitching. You are a very small minority of the 99%. You are the 1% of the 99%. The public dont back you.

@lotsoflove90 Um, maybe we shouldn't be putting horses in unnecessary situations that make them nervous. You can't say that's the horse's fault. The horse is acting as nature intended it to.
cops lol, feelin tough on horses, in riot gear against hippie uni student pacifist protestors. go home tonight and jack off about how cool and tough you are in your kevlar.pathetic steroid fags
Hard to tell whether he did that on purpose. The horse seems pretty antsy to me and seemed to surge forward as horses sometimes do. You can see after the event the horse is still agitated. I can say from experience when a horse wants to surge forward like that there's not much you can do to stop it. @SCAMG1 It doesn't matter if he did it on purpose - why the hell are cops using horses in this instance? Police horse or not, horses get spooked - and then generally don't like being surrounded by large mobs of shouting people from what I know. It's just ridiculously unnecessary, cruel, and as this video demonstrates - dangerous.
@SCAMG1 I see the same thing. ALSO, frame by frame, as even excited horses usually do, it looks like the animal stepped OVER, not on the fellow. I feel terrible for OCCUPY MELBOURNE. I want their voices heard and I want them safe, of course, but please let's not assign blame unjustly.
@shreddakj your right I don't, neither does the other 99% of us. That's why this protest is a huge FAIL. You are alienating those who you seek to fight for. #CanWeGoBackToWorkNow?
@chappo1185 I understand it, the information is out there. Some people are just wilfully ignorant and would rather maintain the pathetic status quo than fight for a better society. The only people who are alienated are those who live under the delusion that one day they can be a part of the ruling elite and wish to continue with the kleptocracy of capitalism.
@shreddakj not everyone can rule you communist fuck or nothing would get done it would just be arguing all the time and that does not make for a better society, and there is no way capitalism is a kleptocracy, ANYONE has the opportunity to make something of themselfs you just need a good idea and to work hard, u and the other protesters think you deserve a perfect existance and to decide how the world is run???? grow the fuck up and work for your achievements dont expect them.
@ainsleywainsley No one is asking for anything to be handed to them on a silver platter, all we're asking for is to get a fair shot. 40% of the global wealth is held by far less than 1% of the population (closer to 0.1% I think). They have a disproportionate share of the power, and we want to put an end to that. Our goal is for a fair and equitable society and an uncorrupted political system.
@lotsoflove90 I'm not even from Australia, I'm from New Zealand. Just because other countries have larger wealth disparity than us doesn't make the situation in our countries any more acceptable. The 99% is a global movement for equality.
@Tinakano1 yet you expect the rich who have worked hard for their money and power to share their wealth?? doesnt sound like you are hard workers to me sounds like your communist's who expect free handouts, btw im 20, have been unemployed for a year and a half and have $300 to my name. but unlike you i dont expect the world to wash my balls, i know life is tough and to get what you want you do something about it, you dont camp in a city and expect shit to change just because you want it to.
@jiveghost I'm not unemployed but it seems unfair to condemn the unemployed in an economic system that requires unemployment to function properly. You want everyone to have a job? Enjoy the inflation dude.
@xkristianx Full employment actually has more stable prices, the mass unemployed become less employable viz the Job (Education and Training) Guarantee scheme.
@xkristianx actually, I don't condemn unemployment. At all. I was questioning the person I was replying to in order to start discussion, as it seems bizarre to me that someone who was unemployed and sitting on less than $300 would criticise the occupy movement.
@ainsleywainsley Actually the protestors are asking for resources to be distributed FAIRLY. "From each according to his ability, to each according to his sacrifice or effort" seems reasonable doesn't it?
Because it is not what you get under capitalism chump.
@mojorhythm so you believe that bill gates at one stage the richest man in the world should have to share his wealth with the entire world? you had no input into the creation of microsoft how do you deserve any of the money and the power that comes with it? that goes for every one of these "evil" corporations you had no input into buliding, why should they share the wealth with anyone?
@mojorhythm well microsoft is a global company, they got their money from everyone and sure bill gates didnt get that rich on his own he would of had software engineers marketing team ect.. working for him, but you think just because you bought the product that got him so rich he should have to pay you back? if thats ur logic ur a fucking idiot
@ainsleywainsley Do you think Bill Gates would have became one of the world's leading entrepreneurs if he was born in Somalia? No! It is thanks to all the resources that the community has worked in joint to maintain (peace, security, roads, transportation, clean air, clean water, etc), that he had the opportunity to go to school, collaborate with like-minded people, and develop his ideas.
Horses are not to be messed with you stupid bitch. Completely disgusting.

As a non violent protester who was arrested, I'd like to state that:
- most of us have jobs and some of us have multiple jobs
- some of us work while we study
- there are people from all walks of life, not just the stereotypical 'hippies'
- there are people of all cultures and nationalities
- and most protesters aren't on 'the dole'
- most protesters who were arrested were released because we were not breaking any laws (including myself)

@mojorhythm so you believe that bill gates at one stage the richest man in the world should have to share his wealth with the entire world? you had no input into the creation of microsoft how do you deserve any of the money and the power that comes with it? that goes for every one of these "evil" corporations you had no input into buliding, why should they share the wealth with anyone?
ainsleywainsley 4 months ago
@ainsleywainsley Just with the country that helped him accumulate that wealth. NO-ONE got rich on their own.
mojorhythm 4 months ago
@mojorhythm well microsoft is a global company, they got their money from everyone and sure bill gates didnt get that rich on his own he would of had software engineers marketing team ect.. working for him, but you think just because you bought the product that got him so rich he should have to pay you back? if thats ur logic ur a fucking idiot
ainsleywainsley 4 months ago
@ainsleywainsley Do you think Bill Gates would have became one of the world's leading entrepreneurs if he was born in Somalia? No! It is thanks to all the resources that the community has worked in joint to maintain (peace, security, roads, transportation, clean air, clean water, etc), that he had the opportunity to go to school, collaborate with like-minded people, and develop his ideas.

@ainsleywainsley and where do you think Microsoft get their materials to make components?
